my camp experience was really so powerful and so transformative I really wanted to pass that experience on new things because there's so many friends here so many good people it just looked like it had everything that I would want to do when I was a kid we've tried to other camps besides Tamarack this seemed to be what camps should be eg a skateboard not in Viking Foday archery gymnastics dance swimming fishing since I've been going here my seven old twin daughters they have no fear of anything they always push themselves and it's very athletic and very sporty now they've tried new things here they wouldn't try it for me our mission is that every child learn to grow through success they have these summer piggy Union things you got to go in like the woods and learn how to make a fire he also made like TP houses out there the instructors are teaching them a skill and then they're working on it their project or game utilizing that skill today I'm actually having a private lesson I'm making a video to edit it and then we make it into a trailer or a movie when I grow up I want to be a photographer it takes us a couple of tries to be successful at something you can build that resiliency it you're just better prepared for the rest of your life my daughter started here not being able to swim at all and now she's swimming across the pool learning how to fail learning how to compete learning how to be in a group learning how to get along with other kids that's all part of the magic of summer camp I didn't want to do the rope so I was scared like maybe I'd fall but now they like helped me and I can do all of the ropes - you learned how to play Terrace here they have bigger areas they have better food they have a bigger zip line we've done a tremendous amount of facility updates a brand new Olympic sized heated pool brand new ropes course creative Art Center brand new resurfaced tennis court commercial kitchen which allows us to prepare our own lunch you know exactly what's going into the food that we serve your children the food is really good here oh it's great that they make it fresh lunch at Tamarack is a happy time chicken patties are world-renowned I love the chicken patty the door-to-door transportation is really one of the best things about this camp because getting two kids ready in the morning is definitely difficult we are obsessed with making sure campers are physically safe as well as emotionally safe everybody's really friendly here when I came which I didn't expect it's easy to make friends here everybody just has a smile on their face it feels good have a lot of friends it's about how to get along people how to communicate directly in a world of electronic media and texting and Facebook one of the most important things at camp is really those social skills an advantage of being a smaller camp is that each camper is able to get individualized attention the counselors are really committed to the children they're really patient they're very encouraging they love their counselors kids are really excited to see their counselors they're really enthusiastic they're kind of role models in sports how to play fair and we have good sportsmanship we do try to instill this sense of camaraderie with the kids establish friendships and they're always greeting them with a smile or a hug or my daughter will run and they'll pick her up they're putting our needs before theirs if they have a problem if they just need someone to talk to like that's what we are here for the benefit to any child coming to Tamarack is not that you're just getting a state-of-the-art facility but their self-confidence their ability to believe in themselves my daughter has had a wonderful summer and I just find that my daughter's confidence has been raised tremendously by being in camp they just have been having a great summer they really enjoy it the activities they enjoy the experience we've just been very happy I want to come back next year because I can be really good I want to come back here because everybody's friendly around here it's really fun you're gonna have a good time you know people and other camps are missing out like it was a place where we want to create independent functioning adults ultimately the parent that realizes that their goal is for their child to launch and be a successful individual that's the parent that you send their child to Tamara if you want your child to have a great time in a great summer and just have fun and play and be outdoors and in a world that doesn't really allow you to be a kid very much anymore and they should come to Tamarack
