What does it mean to be privately owned?
A privately-owned company is a company that is not publicly traded. This means that the company either does not have a share structure through which it raises capital or that shares of the company are being held and traded without using an exchange. -
What is an example of private ownership?
Privately owned firms are run the same way as publicly traded firms, except that ownership is limited to a relatively small number of investors. Some of the most famous companies in the world are privately owned, including Facebook, Ikea, Cargill, and Mars. ... Shares are then traded on public stock exchanges. -
What are the examples of private property?
Private property may consist of real estate, buildings, objects, intellectual property (for example, copyrights or patents ). This is distinguished from Public Property, which is owned by the state or government or municipality. -
Why is private ownership important?
Private property promotes efficiency by giving the owner of resources an incentive to maximize its value. The more valuable a resource, the more trading power it provides the owner of the resource. This is because, in a capitalist system, someone who owns property is entitled to any value associated with the property. -
Are Banks Public or private?
Banks are classified as public sector or private sector, depending on who holds the majority shares in the bank. Those banks where the Government holds the majority stake (more than 50% of the shares) are known as public sector banks. -
What does it mean for a private company to go public?
Going public refers to a private company's initial public offering (IPO), thus becoming a publicly-traded and owned entity. Businesses usually go public to raise capital in hopes of expanding. Additionally, venture capitalists may use IPOs as an exit strategy (a way of getting out of their investment in a company). -

How long after IPO can you buy stock?
The IPO is a bit of a hurry-up-and-wait, as employees usually can't sell their stock for up to 180 days. This is called a lock-up period, and is meant to prevent employees from all dumping their stock and depressing the stock price. -
What is the difference between IPO and private placement?

Is it better for a company to be public or private?

Staying private means you have more autonomy to operate without having to answer to potentially thousands of outsider shareholders. -
Is Private Placement good or bad?

hey folks weeks ago i was asked to talk about uh some scripture uh in particular the the the scripture that is found in jeremiah chapter 18 beginning at verse one um i'm going to read it to you it's the story of the potter's house this is the word that came to jeremiah from the lord go down to the potter's house and there i will give you my message so i went down to the potter's house and saw him working at the wheel but the pot he was shaping from the clay was marred in his hands so the potter formed it into another pot shaping it as seemed best to him then the word of the lord came to me he said i can can i not do with you israel as the potter does declares the lord like clay in the hand of the potter so are you in my hand israel if at any time i announce that a nation or kingdom is to be uprooted torn down and destroyed and if that nation i warned repents of its evil then i will relent and not inflict on it the disaster that i had planned and if at another time i announced that a nation or kingdom is to be built up and planted and if it does evil in my sight and does not obey me then i will reconsider the good that i had intended for it now therefore say to the people of judah and those living in jerusalem this is what the lord says look i am preparing a disaster for you and devising a plan against you so turn from your evil ways each one of you and reform your ways and your actions but they will reply it's no use we will continue with our own plans we will all follow the stubbornness of our evil hearts this is the word of the lord this is a an immense piece of scripture it's a beautiful piece of scripture there's so much in it as i was reading it preparing for this particular reflection there's like four other reflections that i want to give out of it and one i think that i'm probably going to do later on this week this passage is often presented in a way that warns us about how god treats nations treats disobedient nations and treats nations that repent that god will tear them down or god will plant them or whatever whatever may be based on how the nations are behaving how the people of those nations are behaving and there's a value there there's there's value to that i'm not going to argue against that point but when we speak of this passage strictly from the point that god is going to punish a sinful nation or god is going to god is going to relent when it when a sinful nation repents of their ways it becomes it it becomes really it can become dangerous i think probably especially in our in our current christian culture because it becomes incredibly easy for us to point our fingers and to say okay you know god's going to punish us for being a sinful nation my pastor said so so i know i'm not sinful but those people over there are those people who live like that they're the sinful ones those people who who obey that law they're the sinful ones those that law and that law and that law those things make us sinful and we need to we need to cast those things aside or god god won't relent and god will punish us severely he'll he'll uproot us as christians we should never find ourselves in that place right when we find ourselves in that place where we are judging others our number one responsibility in that moment is to repent and to change directions to find out why we're judging to find out why we're pointing our fingers to find out why we're not looking in the mirror instead of looking at the people around us right for christians we we're not supposed to judge right we follow the gospel of grace we follow a gospel of mercy we follow a gospel of love we follow a gospel of self-sacrifice and giving and compassion we do not follow a gospel that says the people around you are sinful and you need to punish them you need to make them change their ways you need to make them change direction that that's that's not that's not the christian way as i understand it and and so looking at this passage there is value to it there is beauty to it but there is a slippery slope to it like so many other pieces of scripture there's reason for us to wrestle with this passage and what i would encourage you to do rather than to see it as a passage that speaks to how god's going to treat the nation i would encourage you to take a look at the metaphor of the potter and the clay and put yourself in the position of the two players in that metaphor the potter or the clay and reflect on that meditate on that if you are the clay in the hands of the potter what does that say to you well it says that god had a plan has a plan for me it says god has has a design god has an intention god has an expectation of how i will turn out but even when i don't turn out the way that god expects or throughout the process maybe there's there's something about me that that doesn't quite fit the initial the the initial intention god doesn't just throw me out god quickly and and decisively shifts and changes god's expectations and molds me into something else something as of as much value something of as much use something as a as as a with with as much beauty to it i'm still cherished i'm still loved i still have a purpose and that no matter what happens throughout the course of my life that's how god is is using that's how god uses the clay that's how god forms the clay it doesn't matter what happens it doesn't matter what may take place it doesn't matter what i choose to do the good the bad the ugly none of that matters god will use me in beautiful meaningful important ways i just have to remember that i'm the clay and that as i walk through this life i'm being formed and as i see what i see and learn what i learn i'm being formed it's my responsibility as clay to be formed and to allow the potter to do their work and then equally from the potter's perspective and please i'm just spitballing here but from the potter's perspective you have this clay in front of you and maybe that clay is the entirety of your life maybe that clay is is a single moment maybe that clay is a dream a a project an intentional an expectation something that you're working towards and as you as you dive into the clay and work with the clay yeah you're going to find moments where maybe this clay isn't going to turn into that thing that i wanted maybe it's never going to be that thing that i wanted it to be but that doesn't mean throw it away that doesn't mean i'm a failure it simply means maybe to put a little more water on my hands and to form it into something else but it is still valuable it is still wonderful it is still beautiful and what it will be will be and as i continue to work with it and as i continue to cherish it and love it as i continue to to pour my gifts into it over time i'll see it develop i'll be a part of its development over time when it's finished it'll be something that i cherish because it is it is of me this this story of the potter and the clay the story of jeremiah watching the potter work in in the potter's house is incredibly important and valuable and it's wonderful and it shows us the immensity of god's love it shows us the immensity of god's power it gives us an understanding of how we as individuals can receive god in our life how we as individuals can can work how we as individuals can can apply a sense of godliness to what goes on in our life may the lord bless you may the lord keep you may the lord's face be made to shine upon you and be gracious to you may the lord's countenance be lifted up to you may you always know the peace of being in the lord's presence and i pray that as you move through the scripture on your own and as you think about it as you talk about it as you reflect on it i pray you will see what god is saying to you what god is offering to you what god is calling you towards amen
