thank you for choosing the Park Ridge Park District summer camp program when dropping off your camper please make sure you are dropping them off with a Park District staff member camp staff will be visible in green camp shirts and campsite coordinators will be wearing blue please check the location of your camp site as many of our camps are located at various sites throughout Park Ridge at pickup time we ask to see a photo ID to make sure we are releasing your children to a person indicated on your participant information for him we will check IDs until we recognize the pickup person please talk with your campsite coordinator if you need to add or remove someone from your pickup list please indicate any allergies or medicine your child is using on the participant information form if your child needs to take medicine during the camp day you will need to complete a medical dispensing form as summer is supposed to be fun we don't want to think about discipline policy and procedures if a situation arises we will contact you and work through it to create the best solution for your child other children the staff and yourself the goal is always for a fun and safe summer for camps that go on field trips please complete the field trip permission form prior to the day of the field trip your child will not be able to attend the field trip without a completed field trip form and will be sent to an alternate camp for the day if you would like to participate in our optional lunch program lunch forms are due the Wednesday prior to the start of the week so we can properly place your child's lunch order all camps will have a camp cell phone you will be able to communicate with your campsite coordinator via phone email or a text message if you call and they are unable to answer the phone please leave a message and they will return your call as soon as they can staff only check messages during the hours of camp participant information forms and medical dispensing forms are located on the Park District website at www.irs.gov release form in the participant information form all staff are trained on emergency procedures including lost child tornado fire intruder and earthquake staff will also lead your child through these drills Park Ridge has a thorough guard system that detects cloud-to-ground lightning staff know if they hear one long blast they will seek shelter fast and move all children and staff to the nearest indoor location if there are three short sounds is safe to be around and staff and children can resume outdoor activities if for some unexpected reason we have to close a facility because of things like loss of electricity flooding or unsafe conditions the facility closure will be posted on the website we will send you an email and update the message on the camp cell phone we will indicate if the camp will be relocated or move for the day again this is just an emergency procedure the Park District uses Park district 14 passenger buses and first student charter bus company to transport the campers throughout the summer we transport campers from before care to the campsite the campsite to after care before care to camp swim lessons camp swim lessons to the campsite and we also transport 8 from worlds of wonder to our summer school option camps creative camp and SSO nature camp if the campsite is not close enough to walk to the pool we utilize transportation to get the campers safely to the pool for camps that go on field trips first student charter bus company will transport the camp to and from the field trip location for camps that go swimming we swim at the Centennial Aquatic Center Youth adventure camp also swims at Hinkley pool early explorers enjoys the Prospect Park splash pad for campers that swim at Centennial Aquatic Center and Hinkley pool the lifeguards will conduct a swim tests during their first visit to the pool if they will receive a red wristband they will be able to swim in the fenced-in wading pool area only if they receive a yellow wristband they can swim in the shallow areas and if they receive a green wristband they can go into all areas of the pool for camps that do not go to the pools they will participate in scheduled water play days which include sprinklers and shallow top pools we ask that you apply sunscreen to your child prior to arriving at Camp you are welcome to send them with their own sunscreen and staff can remind them to apply their own sunscreen throughout the day if you would like us to spray your child with sunscreen during the morning break and before going to the pool please make sure you initial the program information form to allow us to spray your child thank you for spending your summer with us
