Digital signature nonprofit donation consent
hey nonprofits Janette here with the digital marketing Academy for nonprofits in today's marketing tip video we're going to share how to find donors online I'm going to talk about the biggest mistake that nonprofits make and some tips and tricks on how you can find donors online so what's the biggest mistake that nonprofits make it's that they think they can create a fundraising campaign put it up for the entire world and get results now why doesn't that work it doesn't work because you haven't built the relationship so oftentimes nonprofits will create a really great campaign and they think that people will just stumble across it that their current followers will share it and that they're going to get new donors and what happens most of the time is nonprofits will put out really great campaigns and the only people that donate are people who have previously donated in the past if you can relate to this comment below with I can relate so what's the trick to find new donors the trick is to focus on finding new supporters instead of new donors because you have to build a relationship with people before they're going to donate this applies to in-person or online so I think the biggest mistake overall is just thinking that the Internet is magic and that you can put things out and get results and that can happen sometimes but you really need to be strategic in finding new people and building the relationship so let's talk about how you can use some tips and tricks to find new supporters online because once you find the supporters and they get familiar with you then you can convert them into donors so step one for our tips and tricks is to make sure that you are discoverable online and this can be as simple as showing up in a Google search if someone's looking for your nonprofit name or for the services that you provide and a great way to make sure that you're showing up in Google search is to use the Google Ad grant Google gives nonprofits up to ten thousand dollars a month and free search advertising so that you can have the visibility that you need to promote your services and your cause and if you don't have a Google Ad grant act there is a link in the description where you can access our free training on how to get a ten thousand dollar monthly Google Ad grant so make sure your discoverable online other ways to make sure you're discoverable online is to optimize your about page on your Facebook page to also optimize your Instagram bio so that people know exactly what you do you can also add things like hashtags to make sure that you're more discoverable but make sure that the people who are looking for you can find you and once they find you they'll follow you on social media or they'll subscribe to your email list and that is the start of a relationship and step two is that and this is big you need to think about who your donor is so you need to create what we call a donor avatar and a donor avatar is more than demographics a donor avatar or persona some people like to call it a persona is drilling down on exactly who you want your donors to be who your current donors are and you want to drill it down so that you create a person so you can name this avatar let's say it's Bill for instance bill is 45 years old he works at a law firm and he has disposable income his income is $200,000 he drives a BMW you want to get that specific so that you're creating somebody very specific in mind and when you are creating your social media posts your emails your thinking about this donor so that you can directly relate to him and or her and you also want to make sure that you know what their interests are and that you are part of what their interests are and giving back in such step three is once you know who your donor avatar is and you can have multiple donor avatars you can have one for corporate you can have one for individual donors it's not just a one-size-fits-all so think about how you might have multiple donor avatars and then once you have those you want to think about all the places that they go online so are they part of Facebook groups are they reading local publications online are they on social media channels and once you get that list of where you know that they go online you can then step four are to the trick is you can then start to strategically think of how you can connect with these people so let's say for instance that people read a local publication of your donor avatar reads a local publication you can look up a journalist who maybe covers charitable aspects in the paper or on the online publication and reach out to them and say hey my nonprofit does XYZ we are really trying to create awareness for XYZ would you be interested in coming to our nonprofit to talk with us and to do a site visit and just by reaching out to that journalist they may be interested they may have some time or space and it may fit a need that they have to cover and they could come out write a story about your nonprofit and when they write that story because you know that your ideal donor avatar is going to read that you are creating an opportunity to connect with that and so same thing happens on Instagram Facebook you want to find out what pages these people are following when it counts they're following what groups are participating in and then you can start interacting as your nonprofit with these groups you can give them advice you can tell them about things that you're doing you don't want to make this something where you're just making it me me me this is what we're doing you want to actually engage in the conversation and so these are some great ways to identify who your donors are and to start engaging so that you can make those connections and get the results that you need and so after you've built the relationship a little bit and you do put on a campaign that's where you're gonna get your new donors so there are people that became supporters but are new donors so that's how you find new donors online and so if you found this video helpful we'd appreciate if you give us a like and if you are interested in learning more about donation driven marketing we are developing a course and so if you're did join our list to get notified when we launched that there's a link in this description and if you're not subscribed to our YouTube channel go ahead and subscribe below I'm not too sure what site it's on but we are going to give you new marketing tips for your nonprofit every Tuesday next Tuesday we're going to talk about how you can make the donor the hero so thanks for tuning in
