what's up guys welcome back to the channel I'm Jeremy with jeremy Lu photography thank you so much for tuning in today today's a very very simple video on why you should be selling get certificates we're gonna talk about that right now what's up guys welcome back if you guys a new channel please consider subscribing if this video helps you anyway give a thumbs up and then click that bell for notifications it'll tell you every time I come on hanging out by the toaster dirty stuff over there else lazy to clean but I do want to get this video out for you guys I am it's almost Christmas we're about two weeks before Christmas 2019 and I every year sell a ton of gift certificates and I kind of mentioned this on social media pushing it out not only for people to buy them but just for people to know that I sell them and offer them and we got some questions from photographers I'm like why am i selling gift certificates how does that work who do I sell it to what happens and I realize that maybe a lot of people don't understand how good certificates work or why they work so I'm gonna talk about it and if you guys have questions or comments please let me know below so guys every business sells gift certificates for the simple reason of future sales it's money now but for future services later now sometimes they can suck most of times it's really good I think statistically it said that 40% of gift certificates go unused and I want you to kind of think about the gift certificates you may have in your life that you haven't touched or used or maybe even lost as a business owner it's actually a good thing for us to go oh 40 percents not used so if you somebody spends $1,000 or you say don't sell $1,000 worth of gift certificates theoretically $400 of that is free to you you don't have to do anything with it in the state of Nevada gift certificates do not expire which means that you kind of have to keep a log or or maybe put on the gift certificate that they have to have that to redeem it which I do because after like two or three years you don't want somebody to come to like I have a gift certificate with you that I've never used and can I use it and also you know still want to be a jerk about it and say no so you may do the retail value of it meaning that if it was like a $100 gift certificate of 500 hours worth of services they can use $100 towards services since it's been so long the deal that I have going on right now is kind of a mini session so basically they can get a session fee ten digital's that's normally a $395 value for a hundred and fifty dollars they can buy as many of those as they'd like as of today running the sale for about four days I've sold thirty three of those gift certificates looking at my last year I sold about a hundred and twenty I think only like 40 people have redeemed that those gift certificates I did have an expiration date of December 2019 so it was a full year of expiration on that but I will honor that or honor the price that it's put on after that so it's not just gonna be a thank you so much bye and you know sometimes people change your mind sometimes it's given us gift and we never see it again but this is a great strategic business plan especially the end of the year for you guys to make some more money to get your name pushed out further to let your clients gift you to their friends and family ultimately build their businesses I know I've been talking about people not using them but I really want people to use them how cool would it be if 120 gift certificates were used this year and then this year they bought those gift certificates again and then they bought it for friends and family and then every year your business builds and grows from that so you should be selling gift certificates and if you're not start selling them all I have guys if I made a little 5 by 5 card on the back in front a little gift certificate empty spots that I can fill out little you know invoice number or the number of the gift certificate who it's from to is from the value on the back it says here's how to contact me in book everything's on one so if the Handy gift certificate they turn around this is how I book with Jeremy not a how do I book with Jeremy kind of thing and then I have an Excel spreadsheet that I keep on Dropbox so I don't lose anything that says the the number who bought it who it's for how much they paid and when does it expire and I keep all that stuff steady with me I don't sell a crap ton of gift certificates but I do also this is the easiest way that I can donate to organizations like the Red Heart Association cross the cross see people just individual nonprofits that want me to donate gift certificates I can actually create these use these and donate and track that as well so if you guys have questions on that I'm happy show you guys on what I use and how I use it and it's very simple thank you guys so much for tuning in I will talk to you later bye
