there are two major deadlines February 15th and March 1st at 5:00 p.m. if the deadline falls on a weekend or holiday that deadline rolls forward to the next business day February 15th is the earlybird deadline that means you can submit your application by this deadline and if it is complete and error-free you will be entered into a drawing for an additional thousand dollar scholarship if there is an error you will get an opportunity to fix it March 1st at 5:00 p.m. is the final deadline for the scholarship application which includes all required documents in order to complete a scholarship application you need to go to WWE on student aid gov there's a button that says student portal the student portal is the home for all the asset grant and scholarship applications you must create an account within the student portal this one account will be used for all the OSAC applications for both scholarships and grants you must enter a valid email address we use this email to contact you about any information regarding your application or your application status for security purposes passwords are required to be 12 characters long contain one digit one uppercase one lower case and one symbol if you have forgotten your password you can use the forgot password on the login page here you must enter your social security number if you do not have a social security number click this box if you do not know your social security number click I will enter my social security number later the application will remind you to enter this information before you submit your application once you click the Create account button you will see this page this page lists every application that OSAC has to offer please read the grant application requirements completely before applying here you can see that the account is registered and a verification email has been sent you need to verify your email address you will not be able to submit your scholarship application until your email is verified in order to start your application click the apply button before moving on to the profile page we are going to take a closer look at some of the tabs and the links on this page in the header you have OSAC programs tab this takes you back to the main page with a list of all the applications that we offer my profile this is the page that we are currently on my scholarships tab takes you to the list of scholarships that you are recommended for or that you have applied for we'll talk more about this section later my history tab will take you to any previous year's scholarship applications that you have completed in the far right hand corner we have the feedback button this is a place where you can submit questions we usually respond within 24 hours or 48 hours during the busy season another tab to note is the messages section found here this will show you every email that you have received from OSAC unfortunately you not be able to view the actual email message but you will be able to see when the email was sent and to which email address it was sent to if you haven't received your email and it shows up in your my messages page please check your spam or junk mail folders when you first visit your profile page you will see a lot of red text this indicates the items that you have not completed you will need to complete each section in order to submit as you can see the submit button is greyed out meaning you cannot submit your application because you have incomplete sections there is a progress bar in the right-hand corner showing the progress of the application we have distinct colors for our scholarship program in each of our grant programs the scholarship application progress bar is green the Oregon promise application is blue the Chafee application is purple and the childcare application is orange this is helpful if you call in for assistance we can quickly know which application you are working in now let's take a look at our first section of the scholarship application this is called account settings here you can update any account information that may have changed for example you can update your email or your password you can also resend your verification email if your email has not been verified clicking the continue button and moving on takes you to section 2 which is identifying information this section should be auto populated from when you first registered the first question asked who is filling out the application if you are a high school junior or below parent or counselor then you should indicate the you are a test applicant otherwise you should indicate the you are a student applicant we make sure that your transcript has the same name as your application so we ask that you provide us with these names you can list several names here finally you must certify that you are the person listed above in the one completing the application parents may help students but they should not be the one completing the application continuing on to section 3 which is contact information please provide your physical address here and do not use a Pio box we have drop-down menus for state city and county the options are based on US census data some cities may not be listed however you should pick the city closest to the location where you reside if you have a different mailing address you can provide us with that address even if it happens to be a Pio box here you can list your phone number and indicate if it is a cell phone and if you can receive text messages currently we are not texting applicants but it is a feature that may be coming in the future now in section 4 is where you can provide us with one or two additional contacts you can list a parent a spouse or another individual who we can contact if we are unable to contact you you must indicate here that you are giving OSAC permission to email and/or speak with this individual of regarding your application status this also allows us to provide the best customer service if this person contacts us on your behalf now in section five is where you tell us a little bit about yourself there are several background and demographic questions listed here if you answer neither under the citizenship status all of the FAFSA references will switch to or sir references organ students who are undocumented including students who have daca status must complete the orsa not a FAFSA please list the date that you complete your FAFSA or orsa in this section FAFSA or set completion is important because a lot of our scholarships need the information on the FAFSA or or set to calculate a remaining need based on your college choice under the demographics question you can multi-select or choose not to identify with the gender question here we ask you to self-identify your race and ethnicity OSAC does not provide individual ethnicity data to donors and scholarship selection committees at the end of this section you need to answer yes or no to the publicity release some donors like to announce their award recipients on newsletters or on their website this is up to you if you want to allow this lastly here is the privacy agreement this lets you know that your application will be read by a selection committee donors review staff who will then determine recipients you must agree to these terms to move on in the application in section 6 we collect information regarding any children marital status and parents information these questions mirror the FAFSA or orsa questions and you should stay consistent with what you have filled out in the FAFSA or the orsa moving on to section 7 this is the high school information section here you will complete information about your high school and graduation date if you are attending college as a fifth year high school senior where you are waiting to get your diploma for an extra year you are not eligible for OSAC scholarships and you need to check the box here you list your unweighted high school GPA in March of 2016 the SAT changed their scoring if you took the test prior to March 2016 you will check this box and provide us with your three scores if you took the SAT March 2016 or later you will not check the box and only need to provide us with your two SAT scores this is not a required question please indicate here if you have worked with an aspire mentor and the location moving on is the college history section if you have never attended college you can click the button in the right-hand corner here and it will allow you to skip this section if you have made a mistake you can click this button again and the college history section will reappear this is where you will live to all college or universities that you have attended high school students who have attended a college while in high school can also list the college they were attending if you are a high school student this information is not required this is where you pick your college of choice and tell us a little bit about your college plans we understand that when you complete your application you may not know which college you plan on attending we recommend that you give us your best guess if you change your mind at any point you should update this information in your application even after the March 1st deadline in this section you can list multiple degrees again we understand that this is a plan and may change in the future make sure you update this section as your plans change this is the scholarship section we recommend that you complete the previous nine sections because these sections identify which scholarships that you are recommended to apply for click here to see a list of your recommended scholarships usually you will see 14 to 25 recommended scholarships at the bottom of the page you can see which grants you potentially qualify for we encourage you to apply for these grants as well they are a separate application you can go through your list and hide scholarships that you are not interested in you can unhide your scholarships by going here if you are interested in applying for a scholarship click the apply button and this scholarship will move to the my selections page please check the memberships employers tab since you must be a member or employee of a certain organization we do not list these on our recommended page however you may apply for these additional scholarships if you meet those requirements if you do not see a scholarship that you are interested in within your recommended list you can keyword search for the scholarships in this tab here let's click on the profile page and see all the steps of the application here you can see the previous sections and what you have left to complete you can also see your selected scholarships at the bottom you are able to add up to 40 selected scholarships after you have chosen the scholarships that you would like to apply for you can move on to the transcript section missing or incomplete transcripts is the only reason that you may have a rejected OSAC scholarship application we review transcripts to ensure that they match information in your application we pass the transcripts to the selection committee so they have an idea of what type of individual they are reviewing high school seniors are required to submit a transcript with their first trimester or first semester senior grades on it these are usually available in January or February college students must submit transcripts from each college that they have attended and include any fall term grades homeschooled students have additional requirements and details of these requirements are found on our website at Oregon student aid gov this page has specific details for your transcript according to your profile here is an example of what a high school senior might see below you can see that the high school transcript is required high school seniors can request their transcript from their school and their high school Registrar can upload it on your behalf you can upload the file yourself or mail or hand deliver it to our office whatever method you choose please indicate it with these buttons follow the instructions carefully after moving on from the transcript section you will move on to the activities chart this is where you will list your school activities volunteer activities and any paid work history this section lists up to 20 activities and selection committees like to see a good balance between the three volunteer activities could include church activities and coaching for a child team and more here you will put the name the frequency of your activity the weekly hours and the total hours in the responsibilities section you are allowed 150 characters so it is very brief again the selection committees like to see a balance in the three activities preferably three for each category after completing your activities chart you are taken to the personal statements section o s AK requires you to complete four personal statement questions at a thousand characters each this includes spaces this equates to about a hundred and fifty words here are the four questions that you will need to complete one what are your specific educational plans and career goals and why and what inspires you to achieve them the selection committee is really looking for you to provide them with a plan and the inspiration for that plan - what have you done for your family or community that you care about the most and why this is for the selection committee to get to know you a little bit more this will give you an opportunity to explain a part of your life that a simple line in the activities chart just does not do it justice three describe a personal accomplishment and the strengths and skills you use to achieve it 4 describe a significant change or experience that has occurred in your life how did you respond and what did you learn about yourself we encourage that you complete these statements outside of the application and then copy and paste however the application will auto save your work inside of the application after you have completed the transcripts the activities chart and the personal statement you will be able to submit your application some individual scholarships require additional essays or documentation check here to make sure you have completed these requirements you you will notice that on your profile page the submit button is no longer grayed out it is blue which means that you can now submit when you hit the submit button it will take you to the certification and agreement the final page you must indicate that you understand that we are using your FAFSA or orsa information and we will be sharing your application information with Mitty's you will also be asked to review your transcript one last time if you are submitting your application without uploading because you intend to submit it in a different method you will not have to review your transcript again as a reminder you are able to submit your application without having a transcript but your application will not be complete until we have your transcript your scholarship application will be rejected if you do not submit your valid transcript you will now see a confirmation page and receive a confirmation email saying that you have submitted your application in your my profile page you will see a review pending status message at the top after your application has been reviewed you will receive an email from OSAC and your application status will be displayed here check back frequently at the bottom of the page there is a print button you can print your entire application back at the main page you can also see the status of your scholarship application you will be able to add and remove scholarships update your activities chart and revise your personal statements up until March 1st
