all right hey folks welcome to the channel in this video we're gonna talk about an inadvertent wind that we've had for the the channel and for the society as a whole you share in this - it's really really cool changing the mind of anti Gunners sociologically politically it's real cool and also by popular demand we're gonna talk about what our logo means and it kind of plays in to the whole change so anyway buckle up because here comes our snazzy little warrior-poet intro and I hope that was as good for you as it was for me hey let's go ahead and say hello to Evan Evans in here how's it going guys yep and Evan has found a helmet and is wearing that for the video when we start talking seriously you're gonna probably have to take that off it was every time I look at you I need protection and he's sitting in a beanbag chair comfortable fantastic alright anyway so first let's visit the logo whether it's this stuff this stuff this stuff we got to put the logo everywhere and people ask what does it mean and so I wanted to real quickly do that Evan was the designer that's true so Evan will get to play in he'll get to say things but what it means to me specifically first off is the dead space in the cross right there represents kind of a sniper reticle and so you look at the warrior part warrior-poet society the warrior part is exhibited by like a sniper reticle where skilled we're dangerous we can kill you but the cross a symbol of sacrificial love means but we don't like to kill we don't want to kill and so we're ready to lovingly sacrifice in the defense of others that's kind of our whole big stick we want to lovingly sacrifice defend protect that kind of stuff much like a soldier or a good cop they want to defend they're not out looking for a fight they're not out looking for a war that's us we're warrior poets right it's also kind of in the and I think you had this in mind I've been kind of like the monastic nights um well when I was designing it I was thinking of the Templar knights and the Crusades not in the way that people mistakenly get the idea of people going to just kill for no reason no but these defenders of faith and and they really had a mission statement of loving and helping people and they wanted to free people and they were trying to keep people from being killed and whatnot and that's where the shield comes in protectors and defenders of the faith and the cross in some sense that's gone there's a lot of misinformation about the monastic Knights in general Knights in the Middle Ages they weren't good dudes these were usually pretty rough and gruff bad these were hired hands they'd kill you for money kind of thing so a lot of them were just thugs hired guns there was inside that a vein of monastic night so that that's like the Knights Templar that's the hospitalist that's the Teutonic Knights where they truly believed in a mission from God to serve and protect and not all of them of course and not for all time either so in hundreds of years existence there's gonna be very different cultures where all the sudden you amass a bunch of money and it becomes corrupt and it can become some people or under the guise of spirituality but really they were just after money and killing and so you can find all people perverting a pure idyllic name as you saw in some Templars were really good and some Templars were really bad and so that's just how it kind of goes so there's a mixed history about monastic Knights in general and we are really in the in our society referring to the to the good ethos the the one that was not misguided right so that's logo stuff now I just got back from the NRA NRA show had 886 thousand attendees which was really really awesome oh it was cool for me personally to meet other YouTube gun guys like SOOC and military arms channel mr. guns and gear who was already a friend Jon Patton of the gun collective gun drama Johnny yeah said that ride of gun gossip one of my new favorite channels Iraqi veteran 8888 22 plink stir a whole bunch of guys and so sorry if I left Joppa it was really cool for me to rub shoulders with those guys and hang out as well as be part of a big panel with a huge audience where they asking questions real cool my favorite part of NRA and we're getting to the important stuff about the sociological stuff and anti Gunners 1-over but I really wanted to quickly pause and be like one of my favorite parts of the NRA show was interacting with you guys on the other side of the computer and camera screens of yeah I was hanging out shaking your hands as y'all were coming from all over the country to this Dallas gun show and yeah it's a gun show trade show this is pretty truck trade show yeah that's fine I should know what anyway at the NRA show so we had a real good time just shaking hands and hearing your stories and doing the whole picture thing really really fun to meet you guys it's always funny to see some folks who've been watching the channel for a while they get a little bit struck right when they first meet you because something's weird it's like holy cow Jon Jon's like it's Shawn and 4-d how did you get out of what do you think about that yeah I mean it's okay of like I get it but it's that part of your brain that doesn't really believe that how did that person get out of my computer screen and that's part of part of it and I've experienced that too but it's funny to just now it's been happening for a year or so it's it's it's yeah but mainly a lot of what's going through my head is I want them to feel at ease and so I'm quickly by Oscar come on give a hug and photo and how you doing and tell me your story and that's the kind of stuff so spending some time with you guys was probably my favorite part anyway I want to get to the the unintended victory of the channel and changing anti Gunners minds because this is really really cool stuff that frankly when we founded this it didn't really it wasn't in play it was really of looking at the gun industry and being like he you know of yeah that I'm not that dude where you know I have a functioning brain and I want to be a good dad and husband and and so there there's those poet aspects that are as real to me as my military background and my you know um what is the word I'm looking for uh you know uh fighting ability and skill and martial arts yeah whatever all that stuff of I am a I am both I'm fully both I'm not all one or the other or you a lover or fighter I'm both bro I'm a lion and a lamb and that's the warrior poet ethos anyway so we've gotten all kinds of messages like this so I wanted to read something real quick this is a email from Chino through our Facebook if you're not following us on Facebook do that I'll provide links below and Instagram because lots of content that's not on YouTube that's coming through here we go actually I have something I need to thank you for before I asked the question my fiance was dead set against guns she hates them she said I can never have a gun in the house and she would never support the idea now this has been an area of disagreement as I'm an avid supporter of not only the Second Amendment but as a shooter and a protector of life then the email goes on and it says basically I had her watch a video of yours with me including the warrior-poet series on King David who is also one of my favorite and for my birthday which was this past Saturday she bought me a Glock 19 quite a big change and she wants them to teach her how to shoot now so we we had somebody who was completely anti-gun that's now warmed up bought him a gun and it's now requesting instructions when you think of that Evan yeah we've gotten tons of stories what I noticed is it wasn't through the pedantic screaming exclamation all capital letters through Facebook posts as if eyebrow bead people with my political opinion hard enough that somehow they just break under my superior logic and they come to the pro-gun err side there's really smart people on both sides of the debate there really is as much as we'd like to cast the other side and say they're all a bunch of idiots and if they were smart they'd all agree with us and that's just not true a lot of it is they they you know people who were fundamentally against guns a lot of them don't really know pro-gun people and instead what they have in their minds is this idea of what all gun people are like and it's some toxic rendition of an active shooter with a terrorist mixed with a guy's about to lose it and go postal right and so there's a lot of negative perceptions of gun people and a lot of times they're turned off to guns just frankly because they don't know any so in this day and age I think it's so easy to get sociologically pigeon-holed and what that means is you hang out with people that already agree with you so if you look down at your phone and scrolled through I'd say hey pro pro to a guy how many people in your contact list are anti-gun or are any bot is anybody anti-gun and I think it's very very easy and possible that we are not really hanging out with anybody that doesn't ideologically disagree with us but if you did and y'all were able to just hang out all of a sudden it's harder to cast everyone on a political opposition is all wearing dark hats and black coats they're the evil devil and you are the bright light you know III think you know there's you can be the extreme right the extreme left and the farther you are from anybody you know on the other side the more demonic you can cast your opposition but if you actually know somebody who's a caring left-winger not not some of the the the worthless scumbag left or the worthless scumbag right but somebody who actually cares about people but just has a philosophical difference of opinion with you I think that exists and if you don't think that person exists you're probably not winning any arguments because you have failed to understand how your opponent really thinks you want to cast them all as absolute morons or Devils incarnate and that's just frankly not sure it's true for some people some people just suck and they're idiots so are you saying so are you saying that you've got some friends on the opposite side I'm saying I do along with them I do get along with them yeah we um now when this type stuff comes up its spirited debates but at the end of the day I want to be able to you know hit him on the shoulder smile laugh it off now works yeah be nice to people and it doesn't work online right it doesn't work online of course where everyone's you know internet what is it called when somebody's brave online but not in person yeah armchair credit but there's something oh yeah Patrol is what it is no but I mean you know if III think there's a sympathy and empathy that is essential to actually making progress in any type of debate and understanding but here in this example here Chino had a fiance they knew each other they become respect each other's viewpoints and only then can we learn and actually be influenced right the Bible says a offended brother is more unyielding than a fortified city which means from an argument standpoint if you want to just make a point a lot of times we don't want to change someone's mind we just want to make a point we want to be like here this thing you're an idiot I got it together and and you know if you snub their nose you excite their pride you tick them off all you did was make them want to you know walk away soak away and be like I'll get them next time and then they go find data that supports their viewpoint and come right back at you you know if like you offend someone's pride you're not gonna be able to convince them or change them it's only through I think having real conversations being nice to people asking questions and hanging out with people of a different ideological viewpoint that from you here's a challenge to everybody in the society hang out and make friends with people who have different different life or worldviews than you what's gonna happen is you are going to grow as a person and don't try to piss them off try to be nice person have have good manners right you said I think that it make that do far more just like and you'll be like I can't change the country right just change one change one person not forcibly changing their mind is there a moment to do that to be like no you're wrong that's my question because the we get a lot of times where the left comes at us and is just browbeating us with no you're wrong no that's not true here's our myriad of bad data in facts what are you know what do you think that's a good question you answer I guess so I mean sometimes I would think maybe more in a political debate or a debate where people are watching but definitely it doesn't work online I think there is a good distinguishing point if you're if you're know you're in a political debate or your lob you know you're in front of Congress and you're talking about you know good legislation or something like that you're a Supreme Court justice interpreting the law you know if like I think calling a spade a spade is really important and speaking very direct and very passionately can be good but an interpersonal relationship we're not we're not in a public debate here I'm just trying to be a friend and being a decent human being and understand where you're coming from I think until you cross that you know no-man's land until you kind of extend that olive branch of hey I'm good with you even though we have a presuppositional disagreement I'm okay with you I'm fine with this agreement will be okay and let's just have a good conversation about I think that's the only stuff that's really going to break down ultimately the sharp divide that's arisen just be a friend or be a friend to them and let politicians fight how they should fight it's not so bad after all maybe I have a misconception about them I think that's really really good and so at the grassroots level at least I think that's good wisdom that's what I try to do and I just don't have a lot of enemies even though I do have a lot of people that are from all kinds of different walks of life that's great other the people that you meet with that have these strong opinions of light and how many what percentage would you guess has never touched a weapon or seen a weapon in person or you know a lot of them or no I'm sorry uh I don't meet tons it when you're in a college campus or college university they're everywhere it's basically our entire generation and those who come after us are anti-gun not everyone obviously I'm speaking in hyperbole here but here you when Evans full-time warrior-poet but when you're not you also have another job because you work way too hard what's the culture like your other work for an enterprise fortune 8 company I will name them but um and the culture there is anti-gun you're not allowed to bring it in the building I know a few people who actually do bring weapons into the building anyways at the sake of at the rate of being fired immediately but with the climate today and all the shootings and whatnot they figured that they didn't they'd rather be prepared than unprepared at their own you know peril of being fired but if active shooter showed up in that building no one would be able to get out and he'd just go around the building picking them off one by one so let me ask you this if you're I mean you're an artsy nerd you're not as much a gun guy but to them you're gonna me right you're a guy who steals my equipment and helmets and loves when you come over here and I say you know but I've trained Evan Evans had some of my classes so uh he'll be the most dangerous man in his building but he's not in this building out of the NRA by quite a long shot anyway so when they find out that you have guns that you're pro-gun what is the reaction in that environment uh nine times out of ten it's a shun you get a wall up and it takes months to break down now to your point just being a civil guy just being a civil normal human being could just likes people has broken that down a little bit but they don't want to talk about those I thought you said that there's guys who you know work with you who now have like society shirts then watch all the big types of designers I have been able to win over some of the designers but for the most part the upper management and the left-leaning and it's not like maniacal won them over either it's just they had a perception about gun people and that perception was broke and so I think that's healthy until we deal with the perception all the baggage that comes with gun people or not we're not crazy and so just the existence of our society in general we're lions and lambs new and I think when people realize that and we're normal and we'd like you and we're okay with disagreement what not here here's a fun story um this was a few years back there's a major major television network that came to have a place to shoot and I was kind of the shooter guy that was helping this television network so I was there was probably a smarter way to say that but my brain is already four steps ahead and so my mouth is struggling to keep up anyway they're a bunch of California folks that absolutely were against guns I could see how much they were standing off and so I really went out of my way to go shake hands look them in the eye ask him their stories and kind of get to know woman then they their whole countenance kind of relaxed but I had one Bulldog thing that I did I kind of bullied into them them into this just in one little way I was nice for the rest of it but when we were out on the range I took this little 22 pistol as a silenced 22 pistol I loved it and I made sure that all of them shot that gun they didn't want to they felt really bad about it but after the very first shot and I remember the head guy like producer-director guy he took a shot and all of a sudden I mean you saw his whole countenance afterwards like all of a sudden I knew it and he knew it he was like that was fun that was really fun and then all of them did it and they wouldn't what they didn't want pictures taken because they would have been shunned you know I bet they felt like terrible hypocrites but what I watched is a wall come down right I watched some very very very left-leaning anti-gun or people all the sudden have a worldview that was crumbling we grew up with a different culture but all things remain equal I mean in a different world you might have liked guns too and that's okay if you don't so anyway I think this has been a good discussion what do you think Evan you got anything to add yeah I mean one thing is my brother and he lives in Australia is married to an Australian to your point when they came over and we took him for a fun shoot and she pulled the trigger she was like in awe of this thing but then completely changed her mind about how how unsafe they were right just because the person was in control as opposed to the object being in control sure a lot also could said about the information of hey why guns and then there's all kinds of statistics the left has their statistics and the right has their statistics just understand whatever side of the debate you're on everyone's got bullet points and statistics to birth you know to support their own worldview now I personally I understand both sets of statistics I've fully heard both sides out and I believe the right pro-second amendment as we've been for you know hundreds of years is the better way to go it holds true but this video isn't really about that it isn't about saying we are right and you are wrong it's more about how do we break down barriers from one perspective to another and so the purpose of the Second Amendment is really out of out of the scope of this but out of the scope of this video but it's really important stuff to cover and other people have done it in other video so anyway anything else to add we good know other than the logo having your initials in it and you hating that yeah so the last thing about the logo people talk about the logo and if you look it'll be like okay J and an L John Lovell my name and then the T for temple and that is not something I like but it's something you had in mind right yeah yeah when you design a logo and most people don't think how much don't recognize how much thought goes into a logo and the preparedness and you know simplicity of design but also having something to throw a little bit of homage to the owner the founders in there is is a good thing to have so okay and I personally despise that I don't like it I'd like to ignore it so that was his purpose and I reject that I like the cross I like the sniper reticle I like the the kind of the spirit of the monastic tradition I don't like initials because I want it to be a movement it's the warrior poet Society it's not mine it's yours and mine it's ours we got our movement we got some more art look at that we got some more art coming so t-shirt design in the mix when are you gonna actually get to work and quit playing around on Photoshop that's not real work yeah this is work talking can do a camera that's work actually it does work so um anyway all right guys hey train hard train smart and go go meet some people that disagree with you be nice to him and eventually get him to the range and have some fun right see you guys
