all right guys we're coming you from the jail see live event here and we're gonna be talking about fluid applied flashings and specifically the Huber's zip system now if the only of you have seen my video Huber's zip 2.0 I'll put a link in the description by the way that's an interesting method of not using tape but only using fluid applied we're gonna talk about that method today I'm gonna give you a couple tips and tricks we're gonna show you how it works I'm also going to show you a tool or two that you may not have seen before including this one right here and I'm also gonna answer some hard questions I did the same demo yesterday and we got some great questions like what about exposed fasteners what about jobsite damage and have you seen that video on the internet Matt that shows water leaking right into the cavity on the Zipp wall install I get that question all the time and I'm gonna answer that in today's presentation so stick around we're gonna be here for about 20 minutes or so first let me talk about what we're talking about here or show you what we're talking about here this is a fluid applied flashing now we've all seen the tapes Hueber zip tapes been around the market for a long time and if you've seen my videos I honestly was it was a bit of a skeptic on a tape bait system you know we've all used tape for our whole lives as builders right when was the last time duct tape stayed around on a house or very long before it fell off so when this system came on in the market I don't know it's been 12 13 14 years ago now I was like are you kidding me a tape based system that's a dumbest thing I've ever heard but over the coming I don't know five to seven years they started testing this in Austin at the UT durability lab and believe it or not that's right in my backyard where I am in Austin and this head scientists there who's also a construction building science guy David Nicastro gave me a couple tours and I got to see some of this exposed to the Texas Sun for years and see that years later even exposed to the Sun way longer than its exposure level it was incredibly stuck to the wall still and then all the competitor flavors of all the different style of house wraps and fluid applied in all those were in various stages of ragged raggedness after a few years and shockingly this system and this tape still looked amazing that's when I started thinking okay maybe I should look into this a little bit more but when it comes to today's demonstration as we're talking about fluid applied I think the marketplace in general and us as builders need to start moving...
