hi i'm robert from the CIA ops academy i'm here to talk to you today about driving office 365 adoption one of the key things that's overlooked by many people especially technical people when it comes to adopting or actually implementing techno technologies is the belief that there is only a single path taken by all users from beginning to end the reality is in fact that there are two very distinct paths the first path is taken by those in the technical area so their job typically is to install the product get it up and running handle all the licensing and basically make the product work the second audience is the user audience these are the people who have to actually utilize the services and technology that have been implemented to help get their job done to actually produce things for the business to generate a profit now many cases the technical people tend to overlook the fact that users are not like them they have different needs they have different requirements and they learn at different periods also their goals are very different a technical person is really aimed at solving a problem getting things done checking the boxes and making it all work the user however is always about adoption wanting to get the product understand the product you don't understand how it can work for them inside the business and allow them to do their job better now the way that these two different paths are brought together is via the creation of a suitable adoption plan this is something that is generally overlooked in many cases when it comes to implementing technologies such as SharePoint such as Yammer such as anything really these days to do with the new services around office 365 why is that because users generally haven't seen these technologies users don't understand or have not seen how these technologies can be used and can be can help them in their day to day job so what happens is is the users start out on some path but then they receive no additional support or training and they're left to their own devices to try and get to the end point and generally most never make it and this means that you generally see a failed implementation of technology because the adoption component of that has been more or less ignored if we take a moment and have a look at the demographic of our user environment basically what we see is across all of our users we typically see a standard bell curve style distribution so if we break this down into its relevant sections what we find is is that the initial 2.5% of our population are what's known as innovators a very small group of individuals but very key because these are the people that take to the technology first these are the people who will be your beta testers even alpha testers the people who will use...
