director of system planning um we have a pretty good agenda this afternoon for you guys uh so i i would like to just welcome you to this um this workshop it was in concept we we put this together in fairly short order i think over the course of about three weeks but i think it's it's very timely i took some statistics just just to kind of introduce kind of where we're at with svp's footprint we had over seven gigs gigawatts of wind installed great marketplace in 2014 and at the time we thought that was a lot uh we've exceeded 27 gigs registered um not all all of them are commercial yet but uh 26 gigs or more are commercial uh 27 gigs installed or registered and uh so that's about quadruple we're about 400 percent just about in seven years time in the amount of wind resources we have over 13 000 individual turbines i don't know i don't have the statistic on how many registered wind farms themselves we have some fairly large ones so um so yeah we we've been integrating wind for quite some time we're fairly good at it we've exceeded 82 percent i think our peak wind serving load was 84 right on the dot uh just a week a week ago in may and i think at the same time we were 87 and a half percent renewables that was hydro since usually our wind peaks are always at night so solar doesn't contribute and uh and now we're kind of asking ourselves what will it take to go to 90 what will it take to go to 100 we still have a lot of wind in the queue i think at least from my personal um thought is that solar is going to be our next frontier we only have a little bit of solar on the wholesale electric system and the bulk electric system and that amounts to about 215 megawatts of solar so we're we're pretty new i guess from an rto perspective on a solar flight we have upwards of 10 gigawatts of electric storage resources in our gi queue so from an inverter based resources uh perspective we have a lot of ibr installed and we have a lot more coming and and you know some of the statistics you probably have seen we exceeded coal winds exceeded coal for uh energy last year in 2020 just barely but it became the number one resource for spp and so we're embracing it uh wind is is definitely here to stay but with inverter-based resources comes a new uh new challenges it's not what we've traditionally planned for or operated for as good as i believe we are as a membership and svp is a footprint at managing wind we've installed four you know great forecasts and great policies and tools reliably there are there's much more to learn and more technical aspects to ibrs...
