London's Olympic Park and the Olympics was the most ambitious project ever undertaken and it was narrow up to us to embrace that opportunity and take it to that next level as great have the Design Council involved with LOCOG in the briefing document because it gave us a really constructive and concise brief rather than creating a visual identity that was just rubber-stamp to everywhere in in all environments we created a design system that could be interpreted by different agencies so this grid system allowed it to be very flexible across execution of the designs this was delivered by a team of people all of who shared the same vision the same view and wanted that same end result well one of the key themes of creating this piece of city of course links back to the promise that was made as part of the London bid which is that of convergence to make sure that people in East London have the same opportunities as people in the rest of London the vision was to use the power of the games to inspire change and specifically to connect young people with school British consultants leading the world in many ways about how we can integrate all of those measures into architecture what makes this torch a British torch is the collaborations that went on behind the scenes we've proven as a nation that we can deliver incredible design I think people can see that we have some fantastic sports venues here I mean you know they've won awards they've been internationally recognized and my hope is that as we move forward that people will pay the same attention to the new neighbourhoods we're creating we really achieved something magnificent here the fact that it was embedded into every part of the city it was actually how that came to life for the communities that was very important to us I think there have been huge huge accomplishments across this area if we think back it was a brownfield site that was strewn with the old tires refrigerators and we now have a parkland that will be open to everybody we have a set of which are absolutely fantastic we are an amazing nation for actually kind of creating and producing both shows and kind of different design aspects and it was important that London showcased that I think we were all astonished really we will knew that it was going to be a big thing that I had no idea just how momentous it was and the way that it really brought everyone together for that 70 day period the overall design and architecture of the park as it stands today makes me feel quite proud I think that there's honestly some incredible talent in the UK and I think we see evidence of that in the park lines through the venues and through some of the smaller projects that are starting to come on now I really...
