hi this Daniel Elena from wci consulting and today we're going to talk a little bit about the merge dimension feature within web intelligence which is the main reporting tool for the Business Objects platform so I'm gonna start off by creating a simple query here using the support of our sample databases called efashion so I'm going to bring in a couple of dimensional objects so spring in a year will come out your store and bring in state and then we'll bring in a measure so sales revenue now I'd like to do for simplicity's purposes I like to rename these queries to something that makes a little more sense in the report so I'll call this one revenue we're going run this query okay so this year we have the year the state and the cells brother need mom who want to add a second query we want to pass an additional metric that we can see here we can come up here a bit access and to edit I'm going to create a new query an indication I'll go ahead and choose the universe again and choose our efashion universe now create I'll bring in the same dimensions from the first report first query others time going to select different measured so this time we'll select quantity sold change our query name here okay so now we have two queries revenue and quantity coming in the same interval some of them running to query and well you know their fear is it asks me if I want to write the new query data into a new table many report vision Dylan is this the two queries as the currently stands did not have a correlation between the two of them so they can't be merged in the same table so for now we'll select interested table in the current report see here on the Left we have sales revenue number as we have quantity sold now we try delete this table here we try to bring in quantity solely to this report table you'll see it's repeating the same quantity sold item for every line every year in every state and this is what we want so to associate these two separate queries revenue in quantity that's what we'll be using verse dimensions so to do that come here to your data access tab and select universe okay so for right now we're going to select year as our dimension and click OK so you'll notice here the quantity so items change but we still see some repetitions the reason is it's since reflected year is able to differentiate between the years or 2004 we have fifty three thousand two thousand five we have semi nine thousand but we're still giving repeated values for the different states so if we want to include States as well they will need to also merge the state and that's it okay now as you can see we have for...
