Merge esigning proof
Hi, everyone. So my name is Francesco and this week ConsenSys is at DevConnect in Amsterdam and we’re meeting with many of the core devs behind the Merge. So today we’re going to catch up with a few Merge experts, Ben and Justin on what to expect in the leads of the biggest change in Ethereum since the launch in 2015. Cool. Great to have you here, welcome. So with me this morning, as I mentioned, we have Justin Drake from Ethereum Foundation and Ben Edgington on what’s new in ETH2 fame. And I love the blog, by the way. And you guys go on and introduce yourselves and and just mention what you guys are doing on the Merge side. Right, so I’m Justin Drake, I’ve been at the Ethereum Foundation for four and a half years now. Initially, I used to do research and help write the spec, but now to a large extent, the research has been done. So in terms of the Merge, I’m helping coordinate a little bit of the the security effort behind it. We've hired a security team recently, and I'm working with Fuzzes. And I'm also starting to think about, you know, attacks that could happen after the Merge because there are still things that we need to patch. And it’s going to be a whole process over several years. You’re famous in the ecosystem. So you almost don’t need to introduce yourself. So the day job is product lead for Teku at ConsenSys. Teku is one of the Ethereum proof of stake clients and it’s been in production for 18 months or so and we'll talk a little bit more about that later. But I as you mentioned, I also do a lot of writing, education around the future of Ethereum and the technology that’s behind it. Cool, cool. Yeah. Thanks for the intro. So now there are three primary circles in the conversation around the Merge. So the first and we actually discussed a little bit this morning in your colleagues interview, was this debate on on proof of stake where we reduce the carbon footprint on the Ethereum network. The second was more of a technical debate on proof of work and proof of staking issues ranging from crypto-econ and network participation, client diversity and more topics of scalability. And then there is a third one that we actually didn’t really speak a lot about, but it's the meme around the sound and secure money. And both crypto-twitter and the mainstream audience were talking over the past few weeks. I know you, Justin have been talking about this for, well, one year now or even more. And I think we can we should definitely follow up this space more closely. So let's actually start with some basic concepts, right? How do you think about money? I remember you were mentioning, you know, the candidacy money and monetary premium. You want to talk a little about that. Right, so money...
