welcome back everyone my name is joel feld and today we are going to discuss the topic of merging two photo libraries together or maybe three libraries or four libraries doesn't matter you have one library two libraries and maybe you're using icloud photos maybe you're not but regardless you have more than one and you wanna squeeze them together let's rock and roll so you might be in this instance where over the years you've created multiple libraries or you have a new computer and you had an another photos library that you didn't know that you had but long story short you want to take two photo libraries and merge them together and there's a couple different ways to do that depending if you're using icloud photos or not i'm going to show you a few methods that you can choose based off of your current situation on how to merge those together the first step is really figuring out where these photo libraries live and there's a couple different ways to do that number one let's do a search on the mac so first we're going to open up finder and usually by default photos is automatically the photo library is automatically stored in the pictures folder so if we go to pictures over here on the left this is where you will typically find your photos library now this library could live here it could live in the documents folder it could live on an external hard drive so there's another way that we can do a search so if i came to the top right of search and start to type in dot photo library it pops up all of these different libraries that i actually have i can actually click once on them and down here at the bottom it shows me the file path of where that lives now another way to find where this photo library lives is if i close out of the finder if i hold down option on the keyboard and click on photos it's going to bring up a list that shows me all of the recently opened libraries also so if they've never been opened actually they may not show here but here is another way that you can tell if you have a library that is locally on your computer or on an external that has been opened so notice i have two options two libraries here an old one and a new one and it also shows me the path of where this library actually lives and so it shows me it's in the users folder learn with joel pictures and then it resides there now the last option of how you can figure out where your photo library lives is just by opening up photos so if i open up photos here and i go to preferences in the top left of photos i have this option where it shows me the general on...
