so hey you guys welcome back to my channel i pray all this well if this is your first time here welcome if you aren't part of the family welcome back i want to start with my you know like housekeeping so for one just want to say congratulations to the winner of the giveaway it will be posted today because this video is posted on a sunday um also i am going to try and do a giveaway like if not every month then every other month so make sure that you subscribe so that you don't miss any future giveaways i also want to let you guys know as my channel is growing and i know you know everybody wants all these videos just so that we can all be on the same page and know exactly what i'm going to post every wednesday at 8 00 a.m so that you know my nine to fivers can listen to on their way to work or during lunch break or whatever and then i'm also going to be posting every sunday at noon give you guys some time to roll out of bed go to church do whatever you got to do and then you can head on over to my channel and watch my video so this video is particularly for my notary publics and signing agents if you have no idea what either of those are you need to stop what you're doing and go to my playlist it's not republic signing agent go check that playlist out and then come back and head over to this video and so just a few tips um i have my little list here first and foremost um because so people are going to call you for both general notary work as well as um signing agent stuff so refinances heloc's reverse mortgages etc when these people call you a lot of times they're going to say okay what's your price whenever you um whenever you give them this price number one you need to say it confidently if they say what's your price and when you're like um well you know i think it's you know that that doesn't look good so if you even need a second to kind of calculate a few a few things and figure out some details that we're going to talk about later simply say um no problem let me check my calendar and then put them on a brief hold or if you say um all right hold on one second i'm going to put the address into my maps so i can calculate the mileage you have to just figure out little lines to buy yourself some time the other thing i would say is to always um have i love a planner a lot of people use google calendar but the thing is a lot of times when people are calling me it's extremely hard to be on the phone looking at google calendar and trying to do all of that stuff so i i'm old-fashioned okay so i have a planner where i have everything written out the other tip i have which is just very important and actually getting consistent on work whether it's being a signing agent or notary public is how you handle that call so you know this may sound crazy but you know before having my own business my only my friends call me or my mom and i'm like hey girl or did i have to switch all of that up okay you you need to know how to you're going to answer your calls because people from all over are going to call you so you know how i usually say hi it's sophia or hi this is sophia with martin's notary services um the other things i would say just to follow up in the case that you know maybe you're an appointment maybe you're busy or you just don't hear your phone you want to have a professional voicemail set up not yo girl whatever music playing in the background no that's not going to cut it you need to set up a professional voicemail so that when people do leave you messages they know um this is the business that they were looking for and that you're someone that they're going to want to hire also a little tip that i have is because i'm always on the go if you have an iphone or even for androids um if you use the notes app or the sticky note notes app i already have a little template ready um to send out to anybody who calls me that made you know maybe a potential client so thanks so much for choosing um martin's notary services if you're looking to schedule an appointment please fill in the following information and i will get back to you at my earliest convenience lastly before i um start to get into actual numbers um you need to know what questions to ask when people do call you so what i mean by that is um you need to know what time what time is the appointment where is the um appointment taking place how many documents are you going to be notarizing are you going to be printing anything i can't remember if i said it but more importantly the address you need to know the address because the difference between notarizing um something up the street and notarizing something 30 minutes away that is definitely a price difference and with that being said i just love giving y'all little side nuggets um learn your area learn what areas that you service i know when last month when i first started um just doing this business in general people would call me and say yeah i'm located such and such and i would have no idea where that stuff was i remember like i took a signing 45 minutes away just because i didn't look up the um the location in the map so get comfortable with your area know know your local cities know where you are and where you are not willing to travel for starters um every state is different this is where i just made a video about it about knowing your state laws you need to know your state fees the state has already set a maximum that you should know like the back of your hand of how much you can charge per stamp so those are set in stone you cannot change those whatsoever but the thing is we can up charge on convenience and travel fees printing fees and all of that other good stuff so me personally um i have put it in my head i don't leave for under 25 unless you know it may be um somebody who i've you know notarized a document before in the past i may give them a little discount or something or if it's somebody that i know but the thing is you have to realize um if you're out here charging five ten dollars you're not going to make any money and if anything you're just going to be in the red this is a business so where you sell yourself on especially in general notary work is value and convenience and and also the thing is a lot of times you know these documents are very urgent like people will call you like hey i need to get this document notarized now are you available all in a frenzy okay the thing is um that's where convenience come into play if somebody's calling you and they're trying to get something done within 10 um 20 30 minutes you're providing value to that situation so as i said i don't leave um for under 25 i'm looking at my um thing right there where i mean my notes where i got that number from is bare minimum it's going to be one stamp so one stamp is five dollars then i added twenty dollar travel fee that's how i get to that twenty five dollars included in that travel fee is a twenty mile round trip okay you can um change that listen i want you to tailor this for your business but i know here in the city of philadelphia um 20 minute 20 mile round trip with traffic can add up very very quickly okay so you want to base it on your city um and honestly however far you want to drive this is i'm just giving you guys what i charge so that you can figure it out on your own additional things that i also um charge for so um if it's outside of my business hours that's an additional five dollars you can also charge um more if it's on the weekend i will be very transparent with you guys i don't usually up charge too much um unless it's like if it's eight o'clock at night um i just put my pajamas on or something because i go to bed really really early somebody calls me and they're trying to get done that night then it's like okay you know i am going to apply an additional fee but i don't try to up charge too much because you gotta remember these are still people in your community and the last thing um holidays holidays you know there's some people who work a lot and the only time that they have off is on a holiday so how the holidays is another opportunity for you to charge more and so for me i usually do ten dollars more if it does follow on any holiday with that being said as i said we're not trying to price gouge the community that is not what this is of course you want to make your money but you're also trying to foster relationships that can help build your network to where you're going to go in the future so what i do is oftentimes i may get um property deeds or i did one today where it was like a combination of wills powers of tourney it was like seven or eight different stamps i have a fifty dollar cap so if um we do um if we do the charges the travel fee and then charges per stamp and it exceeds fifty dollars i don't go over fifty dollars so that's another way that you can print um provide value and make it seem like you actually can last little nugget i would say with the general notary work is um you know i sometimes do notifications for free um depending honestly on my mood or you know if i don't know sometimes the spirit leads you to do certain things for free you can just hear it in people's voice so every now and then i would definitely do my part um and then the other thing that you can do is you could have like specials so like you could say i don't know on every friday um all seniors get ten dollars off of notarization or you literally can create whatever you want so just a few ways that you can market yourself as a notary a referral system of course um so just by providing a good experience with your company with your business that automatically creates referrals i did a signing today there were witnesses there you know they were like hey we were actually looking for a notary you did a great job we'll be you know contacting you in a few weeks so just by providing good service that's an automatic referral system the other thing i love love love i get at least three to four calls a week guys google business pages is free you have absolutely no reason why you do not have a google business page i'm working on a video i have to figure out how to like screen record and put it on my phone and all this other stuff but get you a google business page and so lastly um lawyers and realtors so um i met somebody a few weeks ago she said she's like she has a relationship with the local lawyer who sends her referrals all the time for power of attorneys 150 per power of attorney okay not saying you may get that necessarily but um if you foster that relationship with somebody who um like has access to people who are going to consistently need your services that is powerful okay as always thank you guys so much for watching this video if you guys have any questions whatsoever if you charge differently if you have any recommendations if you have any articles or just any information that would help not only myself but also this um beautiful notary community that we're building definitely go ahead and leave a comment down below send it to my email or you can even drop it in our facebook group and i'll put that right here and i'll also put in the description box below bye guys
