I'm Dr. Robert Lee Kilpatrick, and I'm the chair of the Health and Medicine Member led forum here at the Commonwealth Club of California in San Francisco. We were founded in 1903 and we pretty much attract some of the best speakers in the world to talk about the most interesting topics for our members and for society more broadly. During COVID, we had to make a quick switch from in-person meetings to virtual. We had a team that has been doing virtual programs for about two and a half years, but now we're back to a hybrid model, which means some of our programs are in-person and some of our programs are online, like today. So I am really excited to welcome Dr. Margaret Milstein, who's going to talk about his new book, The AIDS Proof Brain. And I think that most of our members want to understand how to have better cognition, a stronger, healthier brain longer. And we're going to learn a lot about that today. Dr. Milstein is highly qualified. He earned his Ph.D. in biological chemistry and his Bachelor of Science in Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology from UCLA. Dr. Milstein has conducted research on topics including genetics, cancer, biology, neuroscience and infectious disease, and his work has been published in multiple science journals. So he's going to demystify the brain today, and I can't wait to hear more. So without further ado. Dr. Milstein. Thank you all for joining. I really appreciate it. I am excited to share with you the latest insights into how to age proof your brain. And we're going to be talking about how to maximize productivity, slow aging, boost memory, and really, we will also touch upon Alzheimer's and dementia. And, of course, that's a very serious and intense topic. But we're going to talk about it today in terms of hope, because we now know that there are little things that we can do each day that can lower our risk of Alzheimer's and dementia, anywhere from 30 to 60% based upon lifestyle factors. I like to say little things that have a big impact. And so really my big take home message is that it's all about keeping your brain young, making your brain younger than your actual age. And so that it turns out your brain can be older or younger than your actual age. And by making your brain more youthful, that really does protected. And so people say, well, what's the secret? How do I do that? How do I make my brain younger than my actual age? Is it all about this stuff? The Sudoku, the puzzles, the brain games? Is that the answer?
