Signnow is extremely useful and convenient. Just one suggestion would be when sending out a form with 2 signers but to one email address to make it more convenient for the singer to sign both signers.

Print initial collector

hey Harry Potter fans the Potter collector here welcome back to my channel where we are a community of collectors I'm holding in my hands a first edition set of Harry Potter books printed by Bloomsbury in the UK they're only worth about a few hundred dollars keep watching and find out why so many book collectors sometimes get confused about the difference between an addition and a printing what do they mean so a printing is the entire print run of a book so for example if you had written a book and ordered a thousand copies he printed once all of those were sold you would go back to the printer and say hey I want 500 more printed the 1000 books would be the first print run and the 500 books would be a second print run does that make sense an edition only changes when there's been a major change to a book for example new cover art or a major plot change within the book so when you're looking at rare and valuable books it's usually the printing that counts all right so let's look at the first printing points of the Bloomsbury Harry Potter books now I covered philosopher's stone in one of my recent videos but I'll go over the the printing points again quickly if your book does not have every single one of these printing points which are points to look for to see if you've got a first printing or an authentic first printing or a true first printing if your book does not have every single one of these points that I'm going to mention it's not a true first printing alright so the first thing you want to look at is on the front cover you'll find a quote by Wendy Cooling a terrific read and a stunning first novel one of the most important points in a first printing is of course the number line if you see 10 down to one the one shows that your book is a first printing also on the copyright page you'll see credit to Joanne Rowling which was later changed to JK Rowling and no space between Taylor and 1997 and on page 53 you will find that there is an error in the other equipment list one wand is listed twice the most important issue point in my opinion is on the back cover check out my video about the first printing of philosopher's stone for more information about that there are two printing on the back cover the first you find wizardry and witchcraft backwards it should say Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry not heartwood school of wizardry and witchcraft as well as philosopher's stone is misspelled it's missing an O now this first printing issue point is extremely important so make sure you check out that video about Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone first printing I'll leave a link in the comments below alright chamber of secrets is next there aren't many issue points to look for that are necessarily important except for the number line here which has that all-important number one to show that it is a first printing chamber of secrets also has a first state dust-jacket you'll find in the fourth and fifth paragraph Harry Potter on the Philosopher's Stone and down here Harry Potter is not italicized that was later changed and between these two names and ages there is a missing a comma which was also later added Prisoner of Azkaban is a little bit more tricky because it doesn't have one printing it has two printings we'll start with what's called the first state on the copyright page we see that very important number line ten to one the one showing it's the first printing and credit to Joanne Rowling it should say JK Rowling in addition on page seven as you can see the text was dropped at the word burnt this was changed quickly mid printing so in this in the second state of the first printing so they stopped this printing mid print to fix these errors you'll see they changed Joanne Rowling - JK Rowling on the copyright page as well as the drops text on page 7 the first state is worth significantly more than the second state I'll get to that in a little bit starting with the first printing of Goblet of Fire they removed the number line and added the words first addition to show that the book was a first printing the second printing they added the number line so it would be ten to two third printing ten to three fourth printing ten to four and so on so I'll show you quickly each of these copyright pages to show you what I'm talking about there's no number line but we have the words first edition that shows that it was a first printing you see the same thing in order of the Phoenix half-blood Prince and last but not least deathly hallows now that you have more of a sense of what makes an edition and a first printing and a Harry Potter book let's go over some values many of you have sent me emails or messages asking about an article that was written about first edition Harry Potter books now we know that first edition doesn't necessarily mean anything special printing is what's important and when it comes to first printing or even earlier printings in Harry Potter books Philosopher's Stone chambers secrets and Prisoner of Azkaban the only ones that holds significant value when it comes to Harry Potter in the Philosopher's Stone the first printing a fine copy recently sold at heritage auctions for $80,000 some of the other earlier printings also hold some value but first printing is definitely the most desirable the first printing of chamber secrets had a first printing run of ten thousand five hundred which is a number agreed upon by most collectors a first printing in fine condition can sell for upwards of 1,000 to 1,200 dollars the later printings of chamber of secrets however do not hold any significant value the first printing first state of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban in fine condition is worth upwards of fifteen to two thousand dollars and in fine condition the first printing second state of Prisoner of Azkaban is worth in the 450 to $500 range any later printings after the first do not hold any significant value the first state has an estimated 5000 book print run before the errors in the book were changed starting with Goblet of Fire value can get very confusing many collectors will have a first printing of either Goblet of Fire or the Phoenix half-blood prince or Deathly Hallows and think that they have something really rare and valuable unfortunately that's not the case why because the first print run of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire was 750,000 copies Harry Potter had really taken off after Prisoner of Azkaban so the demand for Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire was very high so if we compare Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire 2 chambers secrets for example chamber of secrets had at 10500 first print run Goblet of Fire 750,000 print run that's a massive difference in first printing books this book can very easily be purchased this one is a lot more difficult to find when it comes to value that's also significant first printing in fine condition of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire can easily be purchased for in the 50 dollar range for order the Phoenix as well as half-blood Prince these hadn't even larger first printing run four million first printing copies 6.3 million first printing copies these are not rare books guys while it is harder to find them in as new or fine condition they are still easily found in the 30 to 40 dollar range and the largest first printing print run out of all seven Harry Potter books is Deathly Hallows with 8 million first printing books printed the demand for the last book was so high they needed to print so many to fill the demand for the book within the first 24 hours of the book being sold this book in fine condition can be purchased in 30 to 40 dollar range so I'm actually filming this video live on Instagram right now and we're gonna do a small little Q&A about printings editions values of the Bloomsbury Harry Potter books so let's see yeah see who's asking questions what's the most valuable book out there it's actually the first printing of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone the hardcover which is it's on top of this book oh that was scary the last copy and fine condition this one's not fine condition but the last copy that's sold in fine condition went for 80,000 US dollars Thomasina Taylor says what is a good place to start collecting to start collecting Bloomsbury books I recommend eBay to find those --my bay you can usually find a bunch of them there but for other books I usually recommend Amazon or hey've bucks that underscore unicorn underscore Voldemort underscore killed asks how many first editions do you own on this video as we learned printing is king when it comes to a dish and printings first printings of philosopher's stone for example I own one hardcover and two paperback first printings one of the paperbacks is signed I have a first printing set in hardcover of the Bloomsbury editions merlina underscore and Morel says do you have any books with mistakes like grammar errors or something actually yes I have some on corrective proofs which have some grammar errors and some spelling errors in them as well as some of them the earlier printings have some errors yes my casket would be made of Harry Potter books I take one more question about this topic that we're talking about looks like there no more questions about this topic I'll quickly answer Jakob finkles question he says the value of an uncreated proof copy in fine condition they can go upwards of 12,000 dollars really condition is becoming less and less important when it comes to the philosopher's stone an attractive proof so you know upwards of 10 to 12 thousand dollars for an uncorrected proof unless it's in horrible horrible condition what is an uncorrected proof Justin says Justin I have a video on YouTube that you can check out to learn about a nun corrected proof go check it out so I hope this video helped answer some of the questions you might have about editions versus printings as well as the value of some of your Harry Potter books if you have any questions about Harry Potter books please feel free to leave a comment below I'm happy to help or you can send me an email via my website the Potter collector comm got links down below please give me a thumbs up subscribe so you don't miss future content and until next time [Music]
