hello everyone today i will be talking to you about how to apply for british passport online welcome back to our channel my name is cherlene and here i talk about my british citizenship journey i've already created a few videos relating to this journey and i hope that you can check them out as well when you see this um playlist i'll be discussing three main things today relating to british passport the first one is how to apply for a british passport online the second one is the processing timeline of my british passport and the third one is the unboxing of my british passport when i finally received it so once you've received your naturalization certificate you can immediately apply for your british passport so today i will show you how i've done my application for my british passport online this is the website where you will apply online for a uk passport so if you go down at the bottom you will have to click start now and then it will ask you if you live in the uk and then your date of birth and ask you have you had a uk passport before if you have any passwords from other countries yes for me and if you have a naturalization certificate and it's a yes for me then this page is just confirming that we are actually applying for our first adult passport and it also says that it may take six weeks for the application we'll then click continue and these are the steps to take to apply for your first adult uk passport it says here you have to get a digital passport photo and then apply and pay online and then ask someone to confirm your identity for this step here are the details of the person that you can ask to confirm your identity it says that he or she should be 18 years old or above and living in the uk have a current uk passport and have a recognized profession down at the bottom are the list of the recognized profession going back to the steps number four is to send them your documents and number five is to go for an interview and then here are the information that you will need to have with you when you continue your application here it includes your naturalization certificate details and your parents details and this will show you how to get a digital passport photo you've got two options here either you take the photo at home or you go to a photo booth or a shop to get a code and this will tell you how to use a photo code for my case i chose the second one which is i have a code to enter and here i will discuss to you how i got the photo code so to obtain my digital photo i went to a photo booth that is available in sainsburys or tesco's it is called the photo me so you just have to go inside the booth and take a photo of yourself and so i went there and i took one for me and this is what i got i won't show you my face but it's got four passport photos there and there is a code at the top if you notice and this is the code that you will use to input in the form and it will automatically show your digital photo so i entered my photo code here and there is my digital photo normally the photos from the booths are compliant to the requirements of the passport office so you just have to click yes you're using this photo and any reason you have and then it will ask for this information for your new passport and it asks if you have ever used any other names it is a yes for me because i used my maiden name before just enter it here and then asking for gender were you born in the uk eternal for me and then i put my country of birth in the town of my birth and then it will ask for your naturalization details followed by your family details this will ask for your parents details their names and date of birth both for your father and mother and also if they were married or in a civil partnership it will then ask for your home address where they will deliver your passport and then your email and your mobile phone number it asks you what sort of updates you would like is it through email or text i chose both and then it asks you which sort of passport size you like i'm not a frequent traveler so i chose the standard one which is 75.50 and it just wants you to confirm that you understand that you need to sign your passport and then confirm that the passport is for you or for someone else you can then double check your answers here on this stage and edit them if you have to and then it says here you'll need to ask someone to check the photo is actually you and they will tell you the details after you have paid so let's just click continue and then these are the documents that you will need to send for me it's a naturalization certificate my passport used to enter the uk and my current passport and at the bottom there are some additional documents that they would require if it applies to you so have a read through this and have a look if it applies to your circumstances they would then ask how should they return your documents i chose the secure delivery which meant i have to pay an extra five pounds and so the total amount i have to pay is eighty pounds fifty and then here is the declaration if you agree just click the box and continue to payment and then enter your details for your payment here are the next steps after you have done your payment first is to ask someone to confirm your identity and the next one is to get your documents ready notice here that you have your pex reference number and this is what you are going to use to sign in so if you click sign in at the bottom and use your bex number this is what is going to show you so here are the steps for asking someone to confirm your identity again it specifies who can do this and who can't do this have a read through this to make sure that you choose the right person in confirming your identity they can do this online so if you click continue here are the things you need to do you need to contact the person and give them these details your date of birth and your current address and then you will need to enter their name and email on the next page so here are the information that they will need from you after you complete this section the passport office will send an email to the person that you chose to confirm your identity and in that email there is a link that they will have to click and in that site they will have to answer a few questions when my friend was completing her questionnaires she asked for my birth date and my address because i think those are the information that she will need to input to complete that part so you have to have this information given to the person that you've chosen to confirm your identity again your birth date and your current address after this the status would be waiting for your identity to be confirmed so as soon as the person you chose to confirm your identity has done it the passport office will notify you that they have received it and then you can move on to the next step which is to send your documents they will also give you a list of the documents that you will have to submit the next status then is to send your documents they will specify here on which address you have to send your documents if you want to recall what documents you need to send just click the link on the right which says what you need to send for my case i had to submit my naturalization certificate my expired passport because this passport showed the date when i first entered the uk and my latest or my current philippine passport so i put them in a strong envelope and then sent it first class recorded just to make sure that it will be received by the passport office i will discuss the details of the processing timeline of my british passport in a minute but i just want to share here how great it is the service of the passport office i'm talking about the email and the text notification it is good to know the status of your application at any given time so you will know if they've received your documents or they are processing your documents or your application you will also know when it is already approved in even the time when you will receive it so by the way about tracking your passport it is important to share this in little information with you as soon as i was notified that my passport has been printed and has been sent i was very keen to find out um where is my passport in terms of delivery so they provided a tnt delivery tracking link and when you open that i will show this to you here and when you open that you will notice that you have to enter your postcode a consignment number or a pan number so i tried putting my information at first and it was giving me some error so i searched online and looked at how people has done theirs it was suggested that in putting your postcode don't use a caps lock but put a space in between the two parts of your postcode and on the pan number just put your e x number but remove the p e x and there shouldn't be any space in between the numbers so when i tried that it went to um another page and it's given me a consignment number and there i saw the status of the delivery of my passport so try doing that if you would like to find out where is your passport so next up is my application processing timeline and here i will show you the application history that you can easily access when you have your pex number you just have to click the link that they will provide on the email enter your pex number your email address that you use in this application and then your date of birth and then they will show you your application history or the status of your application so here i will show you mine here you will notice that my application was submitted on 21st of december and then it is on the same date that i sent the information for the person that i would like to confirm my identity they sent the email to the person on the next day and my friend received that email and she confirmed my identity on that same day as well after that they confirmed that they received my application now the next step was to send my documents if you notice here they said that they received my application on the 22nd of december on that same date i went to the post office to submit all my documents and if you notice there is a big gap between 22nd of december and on the date that they received my document which was on the 30th of december of course this is due to the holidays christmas day and the delays on packages and on posts i started the processing my application and that same day when they received my documents i waited patiently i kept checking my status i'm telling you and then after nearly two weeks my application is finally approved on the next day they printed and sent my passport so from the day that they received my documents it only took them 12 days to process my application and the next day after that they've already sent it immediately and now on the third set of my video i will show you the unboxing of my passport so today i received two posts one big one and one small one so i'm guessing this is my supporting documents and this is my british passport shall we open it let's have a look so this is my passport so yes i finally got my british passport finally so if you look at the color it actually doesn't look like blue it looks like black but does the color really matter now that we've got it no doesn't it so yeah i'm just so glad i finally have it so where do we go then anyway um just what's just to talk to you about what's inside the post we've got this little note that says here that you must sign your passport immediately so there is a space inside the passport where you need to sign um with a black point pen immediately and you cannot use your passport unless you sign that bit so i'm just checking the inside i won't show you the inside but i'm just checking the inside and yeah i found the space where i have to sign it they've also got this um little space here where you can write down your passport number and um the date of issue just in case uh it get it ever get lost or stolen if you have this note then you'll be able to contact them and tell them the details right away so i think this is helpful yeah so now let's open the other um paracel or the other post this is just to show the state of the documents that i sent let's see if it is still intact yep i've got my two passports and my certificate which is still okay and because i've been reading that when they return your certificate it's kind of like creased or not in a good condition but mine has been folded on the half folded half or on the middle but it's fine it's still okay so yeah now we are happy to have the passport and i just want to congratulate myself so yes looks like we got to the end of the journey after a long wait and after all the things that we had to go through to get to this point we finally reached the end it only took me 10 years and four months from the first day i entered the uk to finally get this and now i don't have to worry about visas and immigration anymore and speaking of which i might start talking about what are the advantages of a british passport on my next videos so yeah watch out for that i want to thank you for watching and if you like this video i hope that you can click like and please don't forget to click subscribe so you will be notified when our next videos are uploaded i also hope that all the videos that i made will be helpful for you when you apply for your british citizenship and also this video would be helpful for you when it is your turn to apply for your british passport it will come one day it will so please don't give up on your dreams and just keep on going thank you for watching and have a good day bye
