so today we'll be talking about my favorite subject and that is printing your photos [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] hi guys it's great to see you all again yeah so today I'm gonna be talking about my favorite subject printing your photos I just love getting results like this when you've spent all that hard work and you have climbed a mountain or got a sunrise in the summer and you've got the magical image and there's nothing better than seeing it come out of the printer so I did this print video the end of last year and it's one of my most popular videos I think that's because everyone engaged with it because it's just something tangible about getting your print out of the printer I love it when people buy my prints not just because people give me money to put poor my prints but it's just so nice for me to be able to send my prints to other people but what's even better is when you print your own prints and you get that pride and satisfaction of seeing your own print in front of you and it's a physical tangible thing and I wanted to sort of redo that video but just have a different take on it so I'm gonna go through with you seven mistakes that I made when I started printing things that now I don't do but if I don't know and about them right at the startled me massively so things like paper types things like settings on the printer okay so the first mistake I made was having my monitor too bright and not profiling my monitor so it's really important to make sure that you profile your monitor there's loads of spiders out there that allow you to profile your monitor monitor and get the right color correction on your monitor now you can get specific monitors that are much better than other monitors with a much wider color gamut and more accurate colors but I use an iMac it's an iMac 27-inch I think it's a four 5k model and I find actually out of the box that was pretty good even when I calibrated it didn't change very much so I found the color on that to be fairly good but it's always a good idea to calibrate your monitor and there's I'm not gonna go through that there's loads of videos out there on how to do it so I'll link one here it's gonna have a look at that but there's lots of others as well more importantly than that is the bright your monitor so I set my monitor to a brightness level of between four and five so four or five I change it whether whether the ambient light is slightly different as well so if it's dark I set it to four if it's brighter set it to five so if you've got your monitor too bright then then...
