understood how to work a 3d printer from that moment on active work began in the family garage i'll get ahead of myself to say that in order to build the body of the car bakus and his son worked on it for almost a year and a half they printed separate panels from durable and most importantly ecological plastic and soldered them together afterwards at first they did not believe that they would actually be able to make an exact replica but in the end they built a body that was an almost identical copy of the original they decided to use nylon with carbon fibers to make the car's interior in order to make the car more durable and most importantly safe the family had to first weld a steel frame and only afterwards could they attach the mounted details of the car's body after a year and a half they realized that they would need to purchase many parts because the printer could not make movable parts this didn't scare them what they already accomplished gave them hope when the car's body was almost ready and all of its elements almost assembled backus began to search the internet for parts that they were missing for example they bought the wheels on ebay and selected an engine with two turbochargers from a 2003 chevrolet corvette that they found in a salvage yard they purchased the windshield mirrors side lights wipers and door handles from either china or from official lamborghini representatives they set a really high bar and they wanted the car to look like the original as much as possible they did not want to retreat from this stated goal they bought other missing components such as small electrical parts and blocks online or from salvage yards it's impossible to say that the printed lamborghini did not require any investments the dad spent about twenty thousand dollars on building the car but spending time with his son and being able to see his joyous face and just how interested he was in the project was a lot more valuable he was very happy that
