hey guys boolegan here with boolegan shooting sports taking a look at this thing what is it you might say a ruger 1022 you'd be wrong this isn't a ruger 1022 at all it uses ruger 10 22 parts but the actual firearm itself isn't anything at all this is a 3d printed 1022 style receiver that has been floating around on deterrence dispensed and as soon as these files hit the internet i fired up the printer and printed this bad boy um let's go over it and talk about the process the legalities of 3d printer 3d printed firearms and what i did with this to become the firearm we're looking at today if we take a look at the receiver you'll notice the markings really of any sort because they're nothing to mark on it um on any given firearm the part that is actually a firearm the part that is a controlled item which if you are purchasing one that is already manufactured by another company can vary on an ar-15 pattern firearm it is the lower receiver on a ruger 1022 it is this receiver portion up here um it is in general federally perfectly legal to print your own firearms now there are some caveats to that but in general that is the case on a federal level as long as you are not prohibited from owning firearms in the first place you can make your own firearms you can go down to home depot you can build a slam fire 12-gauge you know pipe shotgun if you will um as long as you meet all of the other federal firearm requirements that is 100 legal to do so with something like this you are basically manufacturing um a virgin receiver it's not a pistol it's not a rifle it's just a receiver until you build it into one of those configurations in this case i started with this receiver and i purchased some parts when i knew that this the file drop was coming on this i ordered some parts i ordered a take off barrel that is a factory barrel uh from somebody on ebay ordered the rest of the parts on ebay really this thing was almost entirely built on ebay and a few local transactions um the barrel was cut down to i think it's six inches long um and threaded half by 28 uh by our good friend over at barrelthreading.com i talk about him in several videos because he does astounding work and i highly highly recommend them for any barrel work that you need done so before this was assembled at all had the barrel done so then this thing has always run a six-inch barrel it has never had a shoulder stock equipped this started life as a shoulder stock was never installed on this gun but it was a shoulder stock that i shortened up the front i chopped off the back i reshaped it i stained it i gave it some good coats of true oil and now have this sort of little dueling pistol pirate blaster it even looks more like a dueling pistol when you don't have a or when you have a short mag in it but i could not resist running the big boy magnet the files for this upper for this receiver if you will to print um they come in two variants they come in a flat top variant and they come in a variant that can use a railed setup i didn't really like the railed setup that was there so i printed this as a flat top but i also designed and printed an interface to allow me to install ebay rmr style site i mean this thing's a 22. i'm not too worried about recoil forces on it but it has essentially an integrated uh red dot sight up in the top which is this thing weighs nothing it weighs like two pounds maybe but you've got you know for easy one-handed shooting for two-handed shooting for gangster shooting whatever really you kind of feel like doing this thing is uh certainly able to do so um but yeah so in general as i mentioned before it is generally legal to print your own firearms you just have to follow the law could i print this and build this as a you know with this bearable with the full stock no you would still have to do a form one and manufacture of a of a short-barreled rifle you don't get to skirt laws just because you're 3d printing a firearm you still have to follow all those federal laws but when you do you can build something fun like this pistol for really inexpensive i think these takeoff parts that i got from ebay cost me like a grand total of like 120 bucks so really i built this thing for about call it 130 total really kind of impossible to do without the magic of 3d printing um so yeah i will be doing more 3d printed firearms i've already designed and printed an uh 22 caliber ar pistol we'll get a video on that here pretty soon um but yeah i will probably do just a separate video on the intricacies and and how that works with 3d printed firearms but for now i just sort of wanted to show you what kind of cool things you are capable of doing with the right application of technology a little bit of know-how and a little bit of money so thanks for watching we're gonna get this thing out to the range do some videos with this and stay tuned for more so thanks for watching
