what's up hannah gardner here wow i feel like i haven't posted a video in a long time this is so weird talking to the camera again sorry i've been gone for a little while i had to take a little break but i'm back in this video i'm gonna be showing you guys how i do fulfillment for my etsy customers so from start to finish from packaging to [Music] everything that goes into fulfillment i'm going to show you everything that goes into fulfilling an order on etsy from the back end inside my etsy account and and offline so and if you also have a shopify store my next video is going to be how i fulfill an order on shopify it's kind of similar but there are some things that are different about it so let's hop right into it and yeah that's um i gotta get better at my intros [Music] i'm gonna show you in the chronological order the steps that i take when i am fulfilling an order on etsy so we're going to hop into my computer right now and i'm going to show you step by step these steps is the inside of my shop manager so the first thing that you're going to do when you get an etsy order is you're gonna get a little notification here under orders and shipping and you're gonna click orders and shipping and you'll see here that i have six new orders so here are all the orders that i got for today and i think i got one yesterday um so the first thing that you're going to want to do when you get an etsy order is you're going to want to purchase the shipping label so this label look before etsy i had never sent any packages i've never even sent a letter because we just like we're millennials we don't we don't send things via post mail so um i had no idea what a shipping label was i know that's like super sad but it was so the shipping label so let me just explain it real quick um so a shipping label is the the thing that you buy that says that you paid for this package to go from point a to point b and etsy you can buy shipping labels from its from etsy on usps for a discounted rate than what you would pay at the post office so i encourage you to buy your shipping labels through etsy so in order to purchase your shipping level you're going to want to come here and press get shipping labels now there it says their address right here you're gonna i'm gonna cancel this out this like you won't be able to see their address but um you'll see that there's this little green check mark that says usps verified so if they put in the wrong address or something's like messed up this will give you a notification saying like this is like a non-usps verified address and then you're gonna have to message them and say yo you gave me the wrong address or whatever so you want to make sure that when you click here to get the shipping label um you have these two check marks here that it should arrive on time and that um it's usp that's verified if there's some other like message here like this um order needs more information like it means like the address needs additional information you may have to come in here and um edit some things within um the specifications of the actual product that you're sending so like sometimes with international products um i'll get a message saying additional information required and all they want to know is just like more specifics of like what how much the product weighs and stuff so just make sure the address is usps verified you're going to click review your purchase and you're going to say yes i want to buy this shipping label this money is going to get charged to your etsy account so if you go to payments and accounts you can see that this 309 is going to get deducted from your profit um you're going to purchase the label and then you're going to hit print shipping label and they come here click here and you're gonna print it now i am gonna jump out of my computer and show you the next step that i do to actually complete this fulfillment process i wanted to mention that as soon as sorry i wanted to mention that as soon as you print your shipping labels it's automatically going to notify your customer that their package is about to be in transit so they will have a tracking number they're gonna get a message like with a tracking number um that their package is being sent out because their label has been purchased once you purchase that shipping label it's going to move all your your orders to the completed tab on that page and so i always print all the shipping labels at one time so that they all get moved to completed um and then if i print them all at one time there's an option to do that on your page instead of clicking it on the individual um shipping or get shipping label option on the actual order you can look at the top and you can press get you can highlight all your orders and then press get shipping label for all orders and you can print them all at one time so when you do that again it's going to move all your orders to completed it's going to notify all of them that all your customers that the orders are in transit um and then once i have all the shipping labels printed out then i go back and i look at the um label the person's name on the label and i um compare it to what they actually look for what they actually bought and then i go into my inventory and actually find to match all the shipping labels just so i don't miss anybody's order so once you have all the shipping labels in front of you like you can't miss any person if that makes sense next thing that i do is i have this shipping label here i don't want to show you the person's address so i'm gonna just grab scissors somewhere [Music] you actually can buy shipping labels so you can print these on a sticker so you don't have to sit here and cut them but it's just like another thing that you're gonna have to buy so if you're trying to cut costs then i would just do it this way um what i do at this point this is a pink mailer um this is nine by six and a half i think i bought these on ebay they're really cute i think i ordered 500 of these at one time which comes out to point like two one nine cents or something so like 22 cents per mailer which is pretty cheap and when you buy things in both like that the more you buy it one time usually cheaper the cost but i found these on ebay i can actually put the link in the description if you want to buy these they're really cute they're nice they're water durable um and i sell all like small products so everything really fits in this and it's nothing is usually more than like two ounces so my shipping labels are between like two dollars and seventy cents and like 20. so what i do is now i'm going to tape this onto this which you can't really see but i use tape and so it kind of like laminates it like that so now it is taped on there now after i have laminated and taped on all the labels on all my mailers then that's when i go into my completed tab and i start looking through to see what they actually ordered so for this order let me just check we ordered 1.5 inch hoop earrings i would inspect the product make sure that it is good the quality is good and here they are um and then what i do is i bought these little cards that look like this and i put these little bow ties on them like this it came from like a local printer um and then i just bought this ribbon from the dollar store actually probably a company that like will make this specifically for you for jewelry but i don't know i just got these cards printed and i take a needle and i poke two holes in it like this um like one of those cards that you would you know find for jewelry this is a little bit uh i guess not as professional as that but what are you gonna do so what i do after i poke the two holes i then put the hoop earrings this now you have your earrings so after that i also have these little bags that i also purchased on etsy they're super cute i put them in the little baggie like this these ones are from india and the guys ship them really quick and i tie a little bow like that like this i take this and i put it inside the mailer like that and then i have one more thing that really adds to your etsy business which is thank you cards which i also got printed by the local printer my thank you cards look like this i don't know if you can see it is a great way to not only upsell your customer but also build brand loyalty so in the future when they're looking for something similar they'll think of your brand you know whether they are shopping for someone's birthday or a holiday or whatever it is and so it's a thank you card it's printed on the back and it has like a little photo on the front and it says thank you your support means the world to the views and company if you had an amazing experience please leave a review and i will send you 30 off your next purchase i understand not everyone can have 30 off but if you could or you can give some kind of discount or whatever then you know it's cool to do this because now they're not only purchasing you from you a second time but they're also leaving a review and so as you know on etsy everything is about your reviews everyone reads reviews the more reviews you have the more you're showing etsy that you're a legit seller and you know it can generate that you know snowball effect where when people leave a lot of reviews um you know your people will buy more things from your store obviously if you have good reviews so i signed my name at the bottom i was writing these by hand for a long time and now it's just getting a little chaotic so i had to print them on the back but i do sign my name at the bottom and i just add that into the mailer as well then i just pull this little tape off like this and i close it up and that's how i do my fulfillment and i go to the post office every single day of the week my post office i don't know if all post offices work like this my post office you don't have to like wait in line you just go to a drop off um on the desk and you just leave all the things that are already labeled and you put it on the counter everyone freaks out because they think you're skipping them in line but you're not skipping them in line you just already have you already have purchased your label so don't let anyone bully you about that so yes that is how i do my fulfillment for etsy if you guys enjoyed this
