Print roomer mark
hello crafty friends and welcome back it is currently Christmas Eve so this is my last video before Christmas and I wanted to do a follow-up on my wireless handheld printer the e mark so I did an unboxing video that shows how to set this up everything that comes in the box and kind of some basic use using the app and the printer and I had quite a few questions on that video asking about the different surfaces that you could print on and what would work and what wouldn't so if you haven't seen that video you can go ahead and click on the link there should be a card up in the corner or check the link in the description and if you already have seen that video or if you've got one of these for Christmas and you're really excited to see what you can use it on then let's go through this video and we are going to test all of the different surfaces that you could possibly use the e mark on so I've gathered up a whole load of different items some that I know definitely will work and many that I haven't tried yet for this first category we're going to be using these kind of paper and card based and the first ones are paper card and vellum so I have those three here this first one is just regular printer paper next we have a thicker card it's something that I would use in my crafting and then we have vellum which if you haven't seen that before it's a transparent paper and that's really fun for craft projects too we're going to be using the same design for all of my tests to keep things fair and you can see here for the paper it works well testing again on the card for some reason I decided to swipe it a couple times but yes that one works too and then for the vellum I've put a piece of card underneath it because I was worried the ink might seep through and I didn't want it to stain my tabletop here and I printed this a couple times I could see that the ink was shining on the surface quite a lot so I had a feeling that this wasn't going to be successful maybe after some drying time but we could see here that kind of gloss of the ink just sitting on the surface and then when you swipe it with your finger that one they know so for the next three we have some textured cards so we've got glitter card textured cardstock and cardboard for the glittered card here obviously it is colored as well as glittered so you kind of lose a bit of the image but it prints on nicely but unfortunately it doesn't dry so here we have the textured card stock I was really impressed with how this worked you can definitely see the image despite the texture on this card and it is dry instantly and then for the next one we have cardboard so this could be like a parcel that you've taped up or a cardboard I guess craft project and I'm just testing that and it's again it's working really well I was really surprised with this it is dry instantly and I decided to test this on the back as well which was a little bit more kind of corrugated and again it prints really nicely on here so I was very impressed with how it works on the cardboard so now moving on to the specialty papers we have some holographic card mera card vinyl and photo paper so here on the holographic it's kind of doing the same thing that it was doing on the vellum the ink looks like it's sitting on top of the surface rather than soaking in so it will print on there although it's not as easy to read as it was on some of the other surfaces and it definitely doesn't dry so then here on the mirror cardstock really easy to read but it doesn't dry it will smudge and I did leave all of these ones where it was smudging and I'll show you at the end if any of those managed to dry down here we have B vellum the ink kind of struggled on this surface it is like a plasticy surface so it really kind of beaded up and it's much as you could see there so then we have the photo paper again it's a really glossy surface so I was expecting the same results but I was very surprised to find that actually it does not smudge and it is instantly dry on a photo paper so you can use a glossy paper I just recommend one that's used for printing such as a photo paper so here I have some washi tape there are many different types of washi tape this one is from Alton ooh and it's wide so I knew it would be wide enough for the printing and I just took it to some paper again in case the ink seeps through and unfortunately it wouldn't even print properly onto this washi it might work with some other washi tapes that you have but for this one even the printing wasn't very successful so now we have metal this is actually an old dog bowl that we had when my dog was a puppy and again it's really surprised to see that it will print on here it's printed really well but unfortunately it did smudge here I have some cotton fabric and again just swiping the e mark across and it prints beautifully I did suspect that this would smudge but I was pleasantly surprised to find that it didn't and that was a cotton fabric so here we have some plastics I was able to print onto this curved surface of a plastic cup but again it would not dry down we're kind of sensing a pattern here it definitely I mean it says on the website that it's for use with porous surfaces and that is what it will print well on but I was really surprised to find that had this been a paper cup we could have printed perfectly on that curved surface here we have a plastic storage tub and unfortunately because that is so narrow the roller balls wouldn't make contact with the surface so it wouldn't print because the e mark didn't know that it was in motion I guess so here on the plastic it did print however it smudges so I've left that one to the side to dry and here I have a little canvas bag and again it works perfectly just like with the cotton testing the e mark on glass I found that it printed but not all that successfully and all the ink kind of beads up however on would really surprised to find that it prints beautifully it will smudge but if you leave it for just a couple of seconds then it will not smudge so that was really interesting next up we have a ribbon I believe this is a satin ribbon and unfortunately we're cameras got out of focus but it has printed and it has not smudged so next is something I wanted to try when I very first saw this and that was skin I wanted to see if this could print on your skin but there are warnings right here on the machine and in the user guide that tell you that that printhead gets really hot so you should not make contact with your skin so forget about giving yourself tattoos don't do it you will burn yourself and it will hurt okay ceramic I tested on this ceramic plump pot and it printed quite nicely and in fact that's a lie it's smudged on the printing but then I tried on the terracotta section and that's much even worse so neither of these that were a success and they both kind of printed poorly and smudged next up is something again I just wanted to test this to see how it works excuse my lack of a rolling pin this is air dry modelling clay and I left it until it was dry and then just swiped the e mark across I was so impressed to find that this prints beautifully this prints as well as if it was on paper and it will not smudge so for the final test I tested cork and again it prints wonderfully I think this would be really great for like vision boards and really easy decoration oh we had one more test here I wanted to check if you could print using a wall and that's what I was doing here I was printing up against my wall rather than on a flat surface so lastly we went back to those ones that hadn't dried again my camera kind of went out of focus but I found that the glitter card stock did dry down however everything else stayed kind of wet and would smudge so we have tested a whole bunch of different surfaces here today and I've definitely learned more about what the e mark can and can't do the applications for this are wonderful so I have a couple test cases here just to show you I'm just finishing up testing all of my smudges and here we have all of the surfaces we were able to print on from paper card photo paper cardboard cotton canvas little card textured card air dry clay ribbon and wood so here I have a couple examples of how you may use this you might want to put a return address on the back of envelopes I'm using coloured envelopes here so the colors are a little muted on-screen they look great in person and I'm just showing here that sometimes when you switch out your image it's best to do your very first image on a scrap piece of paper for some reason sometimes the print is an absolutely perfect but then after a couple of those it looks great so I've just switched out my image again just to show you that first one has a tiny imperfection but then the rest are fine here's another great feature you can use a kind of voiding image what are these called this is like a protection for data protection for your address and things in confidential waste and then here I have the continuous printing function so this is something I did on the ribbon it was kind of hard to keep on the screen and I'm just repeatedly printing Jets which was the name of my first year team onto a ribbon here so then for another example of how you could use this you could go ahead and print on a piece of canvas and use it as packaging maybe for something like a handmade soap or handmade candles I think having canvas wrapping on the bath bombs and things is really cool and it just looks great with that printing if you have a ton of christmas cards to write you could definitely go ahead and use the e mark to write them or perhaps your thank-you cards for the Christmas presents you received this season and I think that's really great especially with that three line printing function okay so thank you so much for joining me today I hope you have learned more about how you can use the e mark if there are surfaces that I haven't considered that you know work let us know in the comments if there's ones that you want me to try and again just let me know in those comments and if you're new here I would love to have you subscribe if you enjoyed the video let me know by clicking the thumbs up button and I hope to see you all back here again soon my next video will be posted most likely in the new year and I look forward to seeing you all in 2020 thanks so much for watching and I'll see you again soon bye for now
