so first off what you want to do is click on the start button at the bottom that bottom left there and your view running XP you're gonna have to go to run but I'll just show you how to do it so first you type in run hit enter then you're gonna want to type in our eg EDI t and hit enter it'll prompt will come up for administrator access go and click yes it's absolutely fine your registries are gonna probably look somewhat like this go ahead and move this over so that you have more space first you're gonna go to H key current user you're gonna click the arrow on that then you're gonna go down to software you're gonna click the arrow around that from software you're gonna go down to Microsoft and click the arrow over on that from Microsoft you go down to Windows like there and click over on that one after you open up Windows you're gonna go to current version and click the arrow again from current version and I know this is such a letter you go down to Explorer and click the arrow on Explorer from Explorer you then go to file ext s right here click the arrow around that and this actually applies for all file extensions that you accidentally ruin any of them I'm just doing one on not dynamic link library lit just because you know I was really curious on what it did so you're gonna go down to dot DLL and you're gonna click the arrow around that you're gonna see three little choices here open with user prog IDs and user choice for user choice just go ahead and click the delete button and remove that completely absolutely fine does no harm at all now you're gonna see four values here or however many you open them with all you're gonna want to delete all of them except for default at the top so go ahead and delete all those yes absolutely fine now from here if you accidentally delete the fault I've done it before on other extensions don't worry you just right-click you want a new string value just go ahead and type in default just like so right click it again modify this binary data remove all zeroes at the end hit okay and now it is absolutely fine even though it doesn't say value not set and if I'm not mistaken Windows just automatically resets it once you restart your computer so from there as you can see the the folder is removed and you've changed the open with list now when you close out of this you're still gonna see the icon that is okay once you restart your computer the little cog wheels will be back and you are all set again thank you for watching my video go ahead and hit subscribe if you enjoyed it and as always stay beautiful
