Verifiable autograph

so today I'm going to show you some of my Elvis collection and today it's predominantly autographs I have a lot of things that belong to Elvis but specifically I'm fascinated with Elvis autographs [Music] [Music] this particular piece here I acquired from the son of the lady who's pictured and she is young lady went to Memphis on vacation and wanted to meet Elvis as many teenage girls did back in the day so in 1957 she went down to the gates and ended up meeting Elvis this is the autograph she obtained and it was even dated which is very well documented it's the classic conventional signature that we often see from 1957 with yours Elvis Presley color photo of the young lady and two black and white snap shots that were taken as well that day a cleaning lady out on the front porch of Graceland and you can see a few of Elvis's automobiles in the driveway parked in front of the mansion as and again as most teenagers do and even adults to this day will pick up little souvenirs on the grounds to say they have something from Elvis's home and she was no different she grabbed a leaf a little pebble and uprooted some grass that all has been preserved what I think is probably most unique besides the autograph of course and the photos that we've not seen before is the little swatch of carpet when Elvis bought Graceland it was a working cattle farm and he bought the mansion and renovated it to his liking very rock and roll phew well again for the day and he had the colors the carpeting a lot of things replaced and his bedroom is no different this is the original carpet that was in offices bedroom back in 1957 and when it was taken up the lady was there and also had a connection with one of the house cleaners via her mother and she got a little tuft of carpet from Elvis's bedroom that no one's ever seen because it was taken up when Elvis purchased the home and of course the album she had was placed in here in the 1956 Elvis Presley enterprise hat that many of the teenagers bought back in the day to wear so just a great collection very well documented having been purchased by myself from the family who obtained all these neat little pieces so a few more authentic autographs from my collection and again I kind of gravitate towards the unusual this is a tie that Elvis the lower third of a tie that Elvis was wearing on a train headed to Portland in 1957 and it was a northwestern tour and Elvis was taking a train to do several dates in Washington Oregon that vicinity of the country and there was three teenagers that jumped on the train to head back to Portland from a little girls out and you might say a teenage girls outing and they had heard Elvis was on the train they asked and they were told that it was just a rumor hoping to kind of squelch all the young fans and so forth that were would probably be clamoring to meet Elvis on the train because he literally would had no place to go on the train so he was in another car but the girls ended up meeting him and Elvis that one of the girls was bold enough to say L was going to have your tie and I had pictures of Elvis wearing this tie on the train and the other two girls were like well what are we going to get so Elvis had his cousin who was accompanying him on this tour cut the tie into thirds and Elvis actually signed each piece I've gotten the lower half which I believes are the better part of the tie but Elvis signed his name on all three pieces and again a unique story and it's cool that again very well documented I'd acquired this from the young lady that has held on to this since 1957 she's an older lady now of course and she put every detail you can imagine on meeting Elvis into a letter I thought it'd be very cool down the road if I could find the other two pieces and some reunite them with the tie so somewhere her friends that she said she lost touch with probably have the other pieces to this tie but again a very unique story and a lot of times again with stories associated with Elvis an autograph will sometimes place Elvis at a location that maybe many fans didn't know that he was there this lower autograph is actually a personal check of a lady it's the only thing she had paper wise on her and again this is 1957 this is midsummer of 1957 and I really bought this because of the story and some autograph purists might say well this is just simply what would be called a cut autograph which is just a scrap piece of paper with Elvis's name but the story behind it this lady was driving around in rural Mississippi she saw Elvis and another guy both run their own Harley Davidsons and she immediately knew that was Elvis and she flagged him down and asked for an autograph and she asked Elvis what he was doing and he was out looking for white ducks that he could take back to Graceland because he had just bought Graceland and he wanted he thought it'd be cool to have white ducks roaming the property so he had gotten on his Harley and was going door-to-door at farmers homes and saying hey you got any white ducks that you would sell me so that's pretty classic rock-and-roll story and she documented everything for me the date at the time and this was July 2nd of 1957 sadly the following day on July 3rd of 57 Elvis would hear that his co-star in Jailhouse Rock Judy Tyler would be killed in a car accident so it's just an unusual day for this lady and the following day would have been rather traumatic for all of us having just wrapped up jailhouse rock and learning that his co-star was tragically killed in a car accident but it places Elvis in rural Mississippi doing something that no one had ever heard of him doing and that was looking for ducks farm and that was Graceland so again very unique this is a bit more conventional this autograph this is a Sun era photograph 1955 when Elvis was just in the midst of transferring from the Sun record label to RCA and what's unique because of this particular type of photograph Elvis most always signed on the back because it was just the use of ballpoint pens and not the use of felt-tip that we have today and it didn't transfer into the glossy paper so Elvis would always flip over and sign the back but the kicker on the back of this is it's not only signed by Elvis but it's signed by Bill Black and Scotty Moore both his side men they were a trio of course and DJ Fontana would come to to play with the guys on drums of course it's just a later date but to have all three on one piece of paper is very desirable typically just see Elvis or just Elvis and Scotty Moore but of course it's all three Elvis Scotty Moore and Bill Black as I said documenting is very important when it comes to autographs or anything pertaining to a celebrity as far as if it was owned worn by them moving on we'll go down to this end of the table probably one of the most unusual pieces that I own that has I think a great story a lot of times when I buy an artifact I'll buy this story this doll was actually used as a stand-in for the child actor and follow that dream that was shot in Florida they were shooting on location and we've never determined if it was the fact that child was just moving so much they couldn't get the child to stand still from a stand in perspective while they were filming or if there's child labor laws and they couldn't have a child stand on the set all day long just simply to be a stand-in so they're filming the neighbor girl had a doll and basically the set the crew had asked if they could use the doll in the film as a stand-in and they used it and after it was used Arthur O'Connell and helm and Elvis signed on the chest and gave the doll back to the young girl that lived in the home adjacent to the property they were filming at at some point along the way the the owner of the doll shall act over the autographs to keep them I guess to keep them a dark which is not really a good thing to do from an authenticity standpoint or a purist standpoint but it certainly preserved these signatures and what's most intriguing I think for the naysayers or the people that might find it hard to believe here is the doll with Elvis this is an unpublished photo Elvis standing under the tree on set and for follow that dream and you can see the doll waving from like a makeshift crib in the back behind Elvis so highly documented I had acquired this several years ago from a lady that the doll belonged to and I had sold it to a collector friend he kept it and just recently I acquired it back from my collection but a most unique thing autographed by Elvis so the next autograph is probably even though it's considered a cut piece of paper there's a whole story and other paraphernalia surrounding the autograph this piece I obtained from the daughter of the dental assistant who had worked on Elvis in Greensboro North Carolina in July 20th and 21st of 1975 Elvis was on tour and like many of us dental emergencies come up and he had pain in his tooth so as he arrived and basically in the middle of the night and had stayed up through the early hours in the morning and a security officer a female recommended a dentist when and she was told that Elvis needed to find two dentist in before that afternoon evening an afternoon and evening show so off Elvis goes to the dentist with his entourage and security and these pieces represent not only one dental visit but two dental visits Elvis Winton would eventually have an abscessed tooth taken care of and then he'd go on to do concerts but post the concert in the evening there was a an abrasive Nassif it wasn't ground down enough and it was bothering him when he sang so he'd go back consequently for a second dental visit all these items were kept by the dental assistant she being a big Elvis fan took the liberty I guess with permission from her boss the dentist this is the original headrest from the chair that Elvis leaned his head on when he was having the procedures done she took it off the chair kept that prior to Elvis going in the chair though he had walked in and either the first visit of the second was smoking a cigar of natural he put it out and this is the cigar you there's still teeth marks on the tip and the good cigar still remains as to where Elvis had smoked it down to and these are the original cases and everything that she had put and gathered everything up in I acquired all this from her exactly how she had saved it back in 1975 as well she took the tools the dental tools including the little mirror and the little pic that we all hate at the dentist she kept everything that was in Elvis's mouth including the drill and just various little dental tools all taken last placed in Elvis's mouth Elvis of course would swish his mouth out and in a Dixie cup she pulled that out of the trash and also to me it gets better for those that are into the whole DNA of Elvis this is the Kleenex Elvis kept in the palm of his hand and dabbed his saliva with and again I realized some fans might find this taboo or too much information but Elvis was a man just like anybody that walked the earth granted he was king of rock and roll and extraordinarily talented more so than anybody else but he had to go the dentist like all of us this is the bib that he had that would have that has saliva and blood splatter on it she managed to keep everything and as Elvis parted he gave her an autograph just on a cut piece of paper but that's Elvis's signature from 1975 a few of the autograph people that collect are starting to collect or even maybe the purists that are still learning Elvis's handwriting changed throughout his entire life as it does with all of us our handwriting is different from when we signed to check out a library book as we maybe sign a check now and it was no different with Elvis his signature changed over the years this signature is very indicative of his handwriting in 1975 as well we must consider during those mid seventies years medication involved having gone to the dentist medication involved it would certainly change in alter of the handwriting so it's a classic signature that I personally cated beyond just being simply told this was Elvis's signature I've analyzed it and being an Elvis handwriting expert it is beyond a shadow of a doubt Elvis's signature just a little bit maybe unconventional like we're used to seeing so very unique ensemble of artifacts surrounding Elvis's signature and again these are just several autographs that I have in my collection of Elvis and look for maybe a part two three and four will bring out some launching
