Save awardee phone

hey guys welcome to my channel and so today is wash day for me and the one thing i don't want to do is actually wash my hair it's just one of those days where i'm not really excited about washing my hair even though i do have my hair in twists and i can actually wash and twist um i just don't feel like doing the whole process this weekend so instead i'm going to go ahead and just retwist my hair and moisturize it and sort of have a chat with you guys about what's going on in my life and how things are going so far so go ahead and get started with that i don't know if any of you guys have ever been in that similar situation where it's wash day and you're thinking i would rather just not do this today i'm going to put this off so i think i'm going to actually wash my hair next weekend instead of today for my moisturizing and retwisting session i just have some water and aloe vera here and then i also have some flaxseed gel um i have some sulfur eight for my scalp and then i have some castor oil which i use to fill my hair after i'm done retwisting so i'll show you what i do each step of the way and just sort of chat with you guys so i have oh i might actually be talking funny i realized i left my invisalign in for this video so i got invisalign it's been a couple of months now and i no matter what i still talk with the lisp whenever i have it in i hear that it's supposed to go away but it has never actually gone away for me so please excuse the list that i have today so these are my twists and i've had them in uh a couple of weeks now maybe three weeks or so um their twist that i did on hair that was flat iron so i didn't wash my hair after the flat iron and i just went ahead and twisted it because i wanted to uh have a protective style so i retwist or twisted my hair from a flat iron state um and so they're not really like full you know like fluffy twists uh not really like the twist that i usually have when i did twist up my eye i did use water and you know some other things but because i had so much oil in my hair before i twisted them i didn't really get that puffy look so i expect that when i wash my hair i'll get more of that textured twist look and the other reason that it doesn't really look that textured is that i um when i sleep at night um in these twists i've been actually doing a similar nighttime routine is what i do when i have my hair straight so i've been doing the whole dividing my hair into two like this and then you know doing the bantu knot thing so my ends are actually very smooth and straight and i you know i don't know why i just wanted to do it that way since it wasn't since when i twisted it initially it didn't really achieve that like texture look i figured i would just have more of a straight sort of a senegalese looking twist so i've been maintaining it that way at night so the ends have stayed pretty straight and stretched too so that's where i am with my hair right now so um again this would have been wash day but since i'm not going to wash my hair i'm just going to moisturize my hair and i typically do this maybe once a week or so um so what i do first and as far as the moisturizing it i will go ahead and just spray my hair with this water and aloe vera juice and i'm sure you guys will see a video i did where i when i actually twisted my hair and i do a very similar process um when i'm initially twisting it as what i'm doing now so just working the water and the aloe into my hair moisturizing i don't know honestly i don't know what like porosity my hair is i've never actually taken the time to find out but i know that when i had oil in my hair before and then i tried to spray water on it it it would not absorb the water at all and that seems like it should make sense i don't know if that has any beard on my hair porosity but i don't know it doesn't take in moisture that well sometimes but then i also feel like it loses moisture really easily in any case me figuring out what my hair porosity is hasn't really been that significant in my hair journey i've been natural now for about 10 years so as many of you guys know i'm on a natural hair and protective style journey so that's why i actually have these twists prior to this i had my hair in braids and i did a tutorial on how i did that and then what happened with me having to remove the braids and then now putting in twists for the remainder of the challenge and so i do this until the hair feels um you know just a little not wet but just a little slightly damp i'll kind of go through and find areas that are still dryer and then spray some of that and work it in and so our protective style challenge actually started in october and many of you have entered and it's actually going to end i believe it's the 23rd of january so that's the first three months of the challenge again this is a three month challenge a six month challenge and a 9-1 challenge so we have participants at all levels so i'll be announcing what the um who the winners are should be next week or the weekend of the 23rd and then i'll also announce what the price will be so you guys will get all of that information at that time so i'm excited that the first three months is almost done and i hope you guys are all doing well on the challenge and that things are going well overall for you okay so once i feel like my hair is sufficiently you know sort of damp um i then go and follow that up with um an oil okay so now all of my hair feels kind of sufficiently damp and then i follow that up with an oil um so a couple of different oils i use my staple oils are probably coconut oil and castor oil i think that those are the two that i never go without so i could use either in this case um coconut oil would you know kind of be a lighter oil and wouldn't feel as heavy on my hair whereas castor oil would really um do a great job of filling in the moisture so i think i'm gonna use castor oil sometimes i'll do both um but when i want to really seal in the moisture i tend to use a heavier oil after i do the water-based treatment of aloe and water so i'll do the castor oil is actually just a little small bottle of castor oil that i got from cvs because i ran out of my larger bottles so i'm just gonna follow that up when i do this i put the castor oil throughout my hair but then i also make sure to focus on the ends of my hair really well then after sort of adding all of this moisture in and sealing with an oil and it's after this i will go and retwist any ones that i think need to be re-twisted but overall it doesn't look that horrible that messy and then on just sort of a day-to-day basis the way i wear my hair is typically in a very low bun to sort of pull back um with a satin scrunchie and a low bun so i don't know if you guys have noticed but i've been doing a lot of very different things with my channel lately a lot of non-hair topics um and i don't know if that's you know that that's well received but um for the majority you know for the majority of the time i actually wear my hair in protective style so that actually does limit the amount of hair content that you can actually do if you're not actually doing your hair all the time but again i get the most success with my hair by sort of leaving it alone and so i know that's not that exciting but i think that if you have a texture like mine one of the best things that you can do for your hair is actually to manipulate it less if you want it to really flourish that is a downside i guess about making hair videos if you if you tend to protective style the majority of the time but if there is other content that you guys want to see that um you know i don't i haven't covered definitely let me know and i can sort of try to incorporate that as well but as far as like the non-hair content um you guys know that i'm i have a lot going on so i'm currently a fellow a breast imaging fellow so that means i'm a doctor and now my last and final year of training before i'm an independently practicing physician or an attending so i'm like now at like the six month countdown until i'm absolutely done and um i've just been thinking about you know what that's going to be like and moving and starting a new job and all of those things so i feel like i'm in a place of transitions and my channel i think has really reflected that i've been doing a lot of sort of different things with my channel and hoping to cover different topics you know a lot of things relevant to medicine and then um you know still hair and then also you know trying to incorporate fashion and work wear and all of those things as well so you guys will see a lot of different content a lot of content that you're probably not used to hopefully let me know what you think i'd love to have your feedback and so now i'm just retwisting some of the ones there's some at the top when i initially did my hair that were i did a little bit too large at the crown so i'm going to redo those ones and just have the kind of look a little bit neater so now since i kind of moisturized before and added oil and my hair fills there's a lot of slip it's pretty easy to unravel the twist and take out any shed hairs if there's any and then retwist from there and then sometimes i add just a little bit more oil as i'm retwisting and then one of the other things i was gonna mention is in addition to my channel sort of um featuring a lot of new and different content i've actually been considering just renaming my channel all together so as you guys you guys know me as efficiently natural which you know initially the point of my channel was to come up with ways to do natural hair that um were more efficient and just easier and could save time especially with me being a busy you know resident at the time when i started this channel and you know busy physician uh now that i'm you know about to be practicing independently so that was the goal of my channel and it's still definitely one of the things i want to continue to make content about but also there are so many other things that i do outside of hair um and i and i think that changing my name to a name like you know nancy and diddy is what i was thinking about um would do better to reflect um kind of the direction that my channel is going in let me know what you guys think about that all right so now as i'm getting towards the end i'm gonna actually use some flaxseed gel at the end and this is a you know little trick i learned from indigenous strands i think she uses flaxseed at the ends of her twists and to serve her well she has beautiful hair so i'm gonna try to use some flaxseed gel in my twisting process and see if that leads to me just having healthier ends in general that in combination with trying to leave my hair um up and in buns more often rather than down alright so that's one twist that's been retwisted it looks very much like a less like a kinky twist and very much like a senegalese twist and that's because that sort of kept my hair straight stretched out after doing the flat iron so do a couple more like that so i'm not going to plan to retwist all of them of course i'm just doing a couple here and there and then here i'm just sort of removing some of the shed hairs while i can um anytime you have a protective style and you take down the protective style you'll notice a lot of hair comes out that's not always because your hair is actually you know doing poorly or falling out it's just that all of those shed hairs that would have come out you know if you were manipulating and styling your hair more often have not had the chance to come out so they're all stuck in there so you have to get them out otherwise you will have lots of tangles so whenever i do retwist i do try to just get as many shed hairs as i can out just to limit that uh that tingling that occurs when i finally do take the protective style down oh what's wrong did you hurt yourself where where your foot okay i'm sorry why don't you have a seat there you can sit on that chair yeah you can sit there okay just wait for me i'm almost done so guys this is the reality of having a youtube channel and having a child you often get interrupted um so i might just twist this one and then call it quits i might do a couple more later but i don't know if this is useful at all or if you guys i don't know if this is useful at all or if you guys liked it but this is me avoiding wash day i'm just retwisting hopefully next week i'll be ready for wash day and i'll do a pool wash day and show you guys how i wash and redo my hair um in twists so wash my hair and twist and then redo the twist after i wash them i'm gonna see if i can maybe incorporate the red air into that process i'm not sure we'll see um but i'm gonna stop here guess what you said you want to say hi here's a little destructor now he's saying you can say hi now you said you wanted to say hi oh you feeling better now your leg doesn't hurt anymore okay don't mess with those things okay all right bye see you later guys me
