[Music] moving on to the second part of this video which will be quick i have 10 quick tips for wedding planning wedding planning during coven and just to make sure you stay in budget and consider those things when if you are really frugal and trying to make sure you stay on budget so number one get married during the wedding off season so the wedding season is typically in the spring through the later part of the summer so well sometimes the fall too so it just depends on the state and the venue but try to get married between november and february i say this because depending on the venue this year may be different because everybody's changing everything we're moving everything from 2020 or yeah so it may be different but in our case we had 19 months to plan we got engaged yes we had 19 months to plan financially for this so we wanted to make sure we were being strategic in how we were spending the off season is november to february at most venues we chose of course the december 22nd date we december 22nd of 2020 is on a tuesday we save three thousand dollars by moving our wedding to a tuesday so it sounds as inconvenient to be on a tuesday but it was the week of christmas so most people were off anyway and it worked out for us i if i was to do it all over again i would have done the same thing because it saved us three thousand dollars i'm not having my wedding on a saturday just because you know to make it more expensive or just for the convenience of others we want we knew financially we were paying for this so we wanted to make sure it was convenient for us so that's my first tip make sure or not make sure but if it's if you don't care so much about your day and the convenience of everyone else i would stick in the off season between november and february you will not only save money but you won't have to deal with the hassle of your rehearsal there's other brides in there trying to rehearse or um you know your the your venue coordinator isn't as focused on you because they have 30 other brides in that month to figure out so i would definitely stick between november and february also by choosing a december wedding depending on the venue you either get a discount on your decor or all of your decor is already included so that's another big thing to consider rather than spending that money on floral decor you can get your decor for free depending on the venue luckily we had a venue who adjusted their decor to our color scheme and they order all of their decor based off our color scheme because we were the only christmas wedding so those are things to consider when you don't want to pay for the things that truly don't really matter um they matter but to urel and i they just didn't matter so yep i would consider a christmas or holiday wedding if possible number two get married during the week which is actually what i just spoke about save a lot of money picking that two-zero wednesday even maybe a friday do it save your money save your coins use that money for your honeymoon it's a big deal i would definitely save in that category number three utilize your resources and who you know that film student that is okay and average and he happens to be your cousin utilize that man if you i am very particular like the the videographer that we went with literally was in my department in college i wound up in journalism so i trusted his work he did our engagement video film i i loved my vendor so i stuck with my vendor but in videography is not a big deal for you then i would definitely choose somebody that you know in your family a close friend somebody that you can depend on to get the biggest moments that are important to you um and even photography stationery everything dealing with a wedding figure out who you know those coordinators i was blessed enough to have three coordinators i had an event director who was the events director at the venue she had her assistant which she was an event's assistant she also assisted us and then my good friend and mentor sean she courted she actually has coordinated weddings before so yes utilize your resources and who you know you will not regret it number four this is my biggest thing i've said it from the beginning of time i said it before covet have an intimate wedding think about the people that you know that you've talked to within the last three years and they consistently are in your life consider those people to come to your wedding do not have your extended six cousin on your dad's great-uncle side and all those people so just consider those things when you're having an intimate wedding you can spend more money in other areas you can save a lot of money our wedding costs fourteen thousand dollars with 55 people that's that's it if you you know if you want a big wedding with 200 people you just have to consider you're gonna have to spend an extensive amount of money so that's just something to consider number five ask your vendors about covert restrictions and make sure they're in your contracts that is a really big one that actually probably should have been the first one but these are not in a particular order read your contracts especially if you're a covet bride make sure you read thoroughly in what you're getting what happens if covet happens what happens if my state shuts down what happens if there's a curfew can we dance can we stand up can we have this can we have that make sure you ask those different questions because unfortunately of course you guys know um if you watch the other video we changed venues three times because so many things kept changing one venue went bankrupt one venue um was trying to pressure everyone to move their wedding to 2021. it was it was so many different things so we winded up at our final country club which was so ironic was actually the first venue i ever toured in north carolina and that as soon as i got engaged this was one of the first venues my mom toured for me because i of course i live in georgia but that's neither here nor there yes look at your contracts ask about covert restrictions ask all your vendors and your venues and make sure you are in the know of what could happen think about those things and really take time with your contracts don't rush to hold that date there's other dates out there so just focus on your contract make sure you pay attention to the covet restrictions number six ask your insurance provider about wedding insurance this is a new thing so a couple of venues in north carolina um randomly went bankrupt and a lot of bras of course were left in a sticky situation some of them did not get their money back and had to take um legal and take up legal steps to get their money back so wedding insurance i'm not sure which insurance providers offer wedding insurance but it's a great idea to have it in the sense that you're getting married during a pandemic definitely consider wedding insurance and make sure you always have a plan b number seven incorporate cupcakes and cupcakes so that was just one of those things that i had already mentioned earlier rather than doing those five tiers that could equal up to about four or five hundred dollars utilizing cupcakes and cakes is much more affordable affordable three dozen cupcakes maybe 50 60 and then the two layers of cake might be 150. you just saved 300. and rather than getting a five-tier cake so consider getting just cake and cupcakes that saved us a lot of money and not everyone may want a dessert at your wedding the vegans and vegetarians may not be able to eat it so just consider those things when getting desserts number eight utilize local shopping local shopping in the sense of hobby lobby michaels arts and crafts utilize those places because unfortunately like a week before the wedding um something didn't make it in time and i had to go to hobby lobby and i saw that there was two aisles of wedding things that i could have utilized there was veils for thirty dollars there was jewelry for forty dollars and i had wish i known because i would not have spent a hundred and fifty dollars on it on a wedding veil so those are things to really consider when before you start shopping go look locally and then you can put your eyes on these things versus ordering something from amazon and then it comes and it looks cheap you know so utilize your local shopping they have better deals hobby lobby at the time was 40 off i got so many things that i could repurpose and use for christmas so definitely do that the candles and lanterns specifically that i got i got for i got the candles from amazon they were like two dollars a piece and then the lanterns i got on sale they were eight dollars apiece these are copper lanterns really nice lanterns that i got for eight dollars a piece and i got 10 of them so saved a good amount of money at hobby lobby so consider those local shopping opportunities number nine this was actually a piggy back off of one of the earlier numbers that i mentioned invite the friends and family that you are closest to it just saves a lot of money to not have of course 250 plus guests versus your intimate 60 to 75 and you get to actually interact with every single person rather than saying oh well dang i don't know if that person even made it just too many people at the wedding you it's just more intimate and of course with cobit honestly you can't really even invite that many people but just consider those things and um and always consider your pockets and how much the head count is and how much your food and alcohol is per person so think about those things before inviting everybody from your college and from your bloodline my last and final wedding tip always have a plan b jarel and i had a plan b plan c plan d and it was interestingly enough as the months got closer to december 22nd it seems as though more restrictions were happening in the state of north carolina literally i think two weeks before our wedding the state of north carolina decided to enforce a curfew it wasn't like a strict curfew it was a you need to be making your way home type of curfew so from 10 p.m to 5 a.m all bars and clubs and evening activities were closed um from 10 p.m to 5 a.m so that happened two weeks before our wedding luckily we had scheduled our wedding to end by nine o'clock anyway and so it worked out in our favor but still always have a plan b um at one point our venue was telling us that we may not be able to dance that we may not be able to do the bouquet throw that we may not be able to do the garter throw luckily that was a maybe sense it was a we're not sure we're just trying to prepare you um that they that it may be more restrictions luckily we were able to do everything that we needed as long as we stayed six feet apart because it was only 55 guests had we had 100 guests we would not have been able to do several different things that we wanted to do but everything worked out everyone wore their masks the whole time and they either danced around their tables or danced around yarrell and i as we danced in the middle it wasn't it was a couple of times where everyone kind of forgot to stay six feet apart because it's like you you can't really project how far six feet of length is between a person but everyone stays safe there wasn't a lot of touching it wasn't a lot we did one like train line thing but that was like the only time where people were actually touching but um we did the best that we could and we have not heard of anybody catching covet for my wedding so we're so happy about that so yes so always have a plan b have a backup plan airbnb courthouse something intimate at your home um if that venue doesn't work out have another venue in the background maybe rent out a restaurant always have a plan b i have a separate video about 10 different tips and ways that you can have a the wedding that you want just in a different location or setting so check that video out i'll make sure i include that in the description below so that about sums up everything for our wedding our pricing the donations that we receive from our family and i'm just so excited that to be honest i'm excited that we made we made it past it in 2020 crazy crazy year to have a wedding but it all worked out and i'm just so thankful for our friends and family that was able to come out our families for contributing to our big day and we're just so appreciative we will have another video continuing our kind of mini wedding series and we'll talk about our full experience with the wedding in more detail we'll make sure we try to keep it shorter than this video for sure so i'll talk to you guys soon thank you for tuning in happy new year
