hello this is Laurie Kornblum I'm an attorney and an instructor at MATC and the paralegal Department I am making this introduction to using best case software video for my students when anybody else is welcome to use it we have an excellent paralegal program here at MATC we have the use of the best case software through the manufacturers and publishers of the software we can for them so this is just a quick introduction so the first thing is you have to install the software and you install the software using the installation codes that you have either gotten from your instructor or you go to HTTP colon slash slash WWF case comm edu slash themes' HTM after you install the software you will find that you have best case installed and it usually has a welcome screen I want to go through the setup wizard and I'm going to open that for you so when you see the setup wizard you'll see that you usually go for a next step or more information so we're going to go to next and first we're going to setup law firm information now if you don't see this screen but you need to set information up you can always go to setup and pull it down so the law firm information that I've set up is a fictional law firm called bankruptcy associates at MATC I put in our address phone number and my email address and then you want to go to the attorney information so we're going to set up the attorney list you can use sometimes there's attorneys that are already installed I'm going to add another attorney named Jennifer first-class because that would be great and and I'm going to give her a State Bar number which is not a real estate bar number I click the always print State Bar number with attorney name because that is required in the state of Wisconsin see that she appears in the attorney list along with a bunch of other attorneys that is myself but it's the difference it is not my real State Bar so then we're going to set up jurisdictions so several jurisdictions can set up in best case the default is the District of Columbia you need to be cautious because if you use the District of Columbia then you will get the forms for District of Columbia which is great if you're in the District of Columbia I'm going to delete the Eastern District of Wisconsin because I'm going to show you how you install it we would click on install new jurisdiction we would scroll down all the way to Wisconsin and we click on Eastern District and say select and then I would close that screen and the usual jurisdiction we would use this Eastern District of Wisconsin if you wanted to change that to district of Alaska you could or whatever other jurisdictions you're in but we want to keep with Eastern juristic District of Wisconsin and you'll see we are on page four of nine now we're going to go the next which is the attorney compensation statement we are going to use the defaults of all these paragraphs you can insert you can delete you can do whatever you want to hear whatever your attorney wants you to do and then we're going to close that out creditor account masking is a good thing which is you don't lock the entire account number to show and your creditor form because these can become public documents and then anybody can see the accountant is so the default is to mask the creditor accounting and then the common creditor lists we are going to show on all schedule we can add common predators and let's say we want to add somebody who is a Janis Joplin and associates and we have addressed a 53:7 way Heaven's Gate and heavenly it's not that would be fine we don't really have one contact it's fine but you don't really need it you can add notes you can add additional notice and then you would see that Janis Joplin and associates appears and now but this is not a real creditor of course and then we're going to close this or we can do the common predators as we need them we can define common macro keys I do not have any macros and then you can do address helper which is you can have auto kill and then we finish the setup wizard so now we are totally set up and that completes this video on the introduction to best case software but you'll see if you look in the setup will have your bankruptcy will have your your Sauter your names you will see you'll have the attorney names you will see you'll have your jurisdictions you will see that you buy we do not have any non attorney prepares you'll see you'll have your map or phrase list if any everything can be accessed from the setup menu and if you need to go back through you can do setup wizard again so that concludes this this video and we will go on to the next video
