What active users are saying — save drawn title
Save drawn title
okay so if you if you watched my last video which is layers and layer properties I mentioned at the beginning that we can create something called a layer template the way that we do that is open up a drawing that you like how you set up your layers you like the color scheme you like the formatting all that good stuff and then what you're gonna need to do is we're not gonna actually save this drawing but we're gonna save it as a template so I'm going to turn on all my layers make sure your construction lines are on and everything and I'm gonna go ahead and I'm gonna erase everything and get rid of it now what I can do is I can go up here and you know maybe I want to switch it to like I don't know my construction layer or something that's going to be the default one that pops up I go file save as and I could pick drawing template or I can hit save as and I can change down here to AutoCAD drawing template DWT okay then what you're gonna do is you're gonna name it I named mine layer properties I had saved this previously to this video but I'm just gonna overwrite it so I can hit layer properties hit safe and then replace it yes you can give a description I could say you know proper layer setup all that good stuff but I'm just gonna hit OK and now this is saved now I can close out of it and when I go to start a new drawing I can go and pick use a template I could browse or I could pick my layer properties from the pulldown hit okay then you can see in this new drawing once it loads up here's all my stuff alright and I can start drawing my different things so if I want to draw like my box that I created in the other you know like zero comma zero make a line that goes this way goes that way and I can start offsetting and then I can go to my object layer and I can start drawing over the top of it and you can see I end up with the same result I had in the last video so it's a very simple thing to do the key is you want to set up a drawing first such that you like your color scheme and all your layer properties as far as like line types and things like that and then you're just gonna erase all your objects otherwise they're gonna show up every time you open this template maybe you want to some people like to set up templates for example with just these two lines started you know you can do that that's no problem but then you're just going to save it as a drawing template then you can use it forever or at least until it doesn't work on a version of AutoCAD
