a secondary type of documentation compared to dynamic documentation is power note if you're wanting to create a power note select the option from the small drop-down arrow next to the add button on the documentation menu tab with power nodes the note type field will auto-populate with the last note type used remember to change this as appropriate for the document being created the note types available for power notes are the same as in dynamic documentation the default list of notes which will display in the drop down options can be chosen by right clicking on the drop-down arrow and selecting the desired list type the customization of personal note type list is done the same way for power notes as it is for dynamic doc and if you do it for one you've already done it for the other if a list is already created the list will display whether dynamic documentation or power notes are used to select a template for the note you can search on the encounter pathway tab or select an item from any of the other tabs once a template is chosen the system will display a warning next to the note type field if the template and the note type are not known to be appropriate associations the system will not prevent you from documenting what it sees as a mismatch select ok to open the note within the auto population window click in the box for any element for which system generated data is desired to be pulled to the note you can leave all of the items unchecked and pull them in is desired from within the note the system will remember the chosen auto population options the next time the note template is chosen when all desired terms are selected click OK to finish opening the note power notes are structured documentation with many predefined options to choose from you select the various options you want to display in the note the final note will not look like the template in power notes if an item is not charted on it will not display in the final document some basics of the power notes are the hide or show structure which opens or closes a paragraph in the note use free text option hides any uncharted structure and adds free text at the end of the paragraph the three double dash lines opens a charting field for free text numeric or time date entries depending on the element it is associated with the double sideways carrot expand or reduce the sentence which means that you'll have more or less options in your charting options include opens up the chart to allow user to identify data to pull into the note launch will take you to a specific flow sheet or chart
