hey you guys you are planning a low-budget wedding you may be wondering what are some of the biggest ways I can save money and it's great to try to save 20 bucks here 50 bucks there hundred bucks there save every dollar that you can but if we're talking about saving thousands of dollars it really comes down to two key decisions first one we already covered at the venue according to online research it says the average venue's about can cost about $13,000 13900 traditional wedding venues not only are usually unaffordable for those of us who are on a low budget but they also can cost you a lot of money in literally every other area of the wedding we want to steer from those places that alone will save you thousands and thousands of dollars so click on my first video that part 1 of how to plan your wedding on a low budget let's move on to number 2 that's what this video is about this video is about your gas list okay your guest list this can be a touchy topic but it's a little literally the best way to save money why is that because everything in your list of expenses is pretty much multiplied by the number of people who are coming your wedding favors multiply that by your number of people chair covers chair rentals table in and mocs by the by the number of invitations postage stamp sake and then the biggest expense again is usually your catering your food and your alcohol so if you are having a full dinner and if you are serving alcohol it's usually per plate or per person that pricing now every place is different they got some new packages flat rates going on who sips stuff going up but I'm talking about a lot of the wedding venues I've ran into or caters or all these different things it's multiplied by the number of people you have coming so if we're just looking at ka fifty dollars a plate times a hundred people that is five thousand dollars add an extra 50 people 50 people time fifty dollars per plate is an extra twenty five hundred dollars and again this is just with catering we're not talking about favors and chair covers and table linens postage and invitations why not even adding all that up we're talking about catering Allah should be enough to make you want to trim down your guest list because that is the quickest way to save literally thousands of dollars a second place an answer about profit this is if you got if you got a serve alcohol you want to really choose the best venue and really tighten up your guest list when it comes down to the guest list first of all you want to make sure your guest list is people who will show up if you invited a whole bunch of people you think your count is a hundred and twenty of them Joker's don't show up you paid for a hundred people you just throw away twenty times 50 so you just throw away an extra thousand dollars on food on people who didn't show up so you want to make sure your guest list only has people on it who you are so sure they are gonna show up you don't want to invite people who are gonna RSVP yes and then be no-shows or cancel on you on the last minute that's how you throw away lots oh my okay so I have a tool that I used to trim down the guest list for our wedding we trimmed it down to 93 people which I know sounds like a weird odd number but literally every person counts okay when it comes to your budget so 93 was really difficult because it's me and my husband and that's less than 50 people each and we you know I have a larger family we have quite a few circles of friends so that was pretty challenging but it was in my opinion worth it so I'm gonna try to link this flow sheet or somehow insert in this video but I'm gonna lucky I had trouble with that before so number one is have I known you for more than a year that was the timeline I chose again you can change all the rules on this thing it just gives you an idea of what your criteria should look like but if I haven't known you for over a year you don't make the cut next question is do I spend time with you outside of church work or school and again for you it might not be a church for work and school that she was as your criteria you can change it to whatever you want but for me if I don't hang out with you outside of church work or school you don't make the cut next question have you met my spouse more than one if you have it you don't make the cut does my spouse like you as a person no you don't make the cut have we ever shared any kind of romantic relationship whether it was physical or emotional if the answer is yes to that question that person is eliminated have we talked on the phone or hung out at all this year if the answer is no that person is eliminated are you truly supportive of our marriage the answer's no you're eliminated can we see you as a positive influence on our marriage in the future or use someone from our past that is not going to transition into this new life with us if you're if you're if we can see you as a positive influence important part of our future then you are invited if not eliminated now someone can make it through all these steps and here's the final question that I had if I invite you does that mean I have to invite five other people that you're connected to five other people that don't meet this all this criteria that won't make it through this whole test so this one is really tricky because if you have somebody that you're really like you're close with you can see them in the future like being supportive of your marriage being a good mentor whatever but if inviting them means you have to invite three other people that you don't like or that you want otherwise invite that that can be tricky that can be really tricky so you and your spouse will just have to decide what you want to do with that so feel free to change each like cool to whatever you want it to be maybe and have I known you instead of have I known you for at least a year maybe you want to change it to six months maybe you want to change it to two years you can change that this tool is not meant to hurt anybody's feelings it's not meant to make anybody feel any type of way but when you are paying for your own wedding and when you do the math literally each person is easily costing you like a hundred dollars and if they have a plus-one or a kid then that's 300 dollars it costs for you to invite them to your wedding and certain people don't understand that because they never had a wedding or they've never planned a wedding or they haven't ran the numbers and they don't know your savings account they don't know how much you make so they just why don't you invite me they just get their feelings hurt not realizing that it's nothing personal but it's it's between you going into debt or not it's like kind of a big deal for you and who you're inviting and who you're not inviting and what your ultimate number is because if you invite 200 people I mean you're really hacking on thousands and thousands of dollars and if you don't have that money and savings if you'd rather put it as a down payment on a house like this is these decisions are really going to affect you for a longer time than they're gonna affect the person who wasn't invited and they're you know they felt bad about it so another thing I found helpful was to think about like your past versus your future so marriage is kind of like ever you're entering into a new life a new chapter so for me it helps to think about only inviting the people who I see going into the next chapter with us instead of being in the mindset that oh I want them by everybody I've ever been friends with just to you know celebrate you know old times or to show off you know some I mean there was a point in time when I wanted to invite like everybody like I've ever been close to at all in my life if you think about it like if you're trying to trim you guys close down it makes more sense to only invite the people who are in your present as opposed to inviting everybody you've ever been friends with or you know all of your exes or you know people-people do some interesting stuff and that I created this video so thank you for watching [Music]
