hello viewers here is a general electric telephone this is model 29870ge1-a and i'm very confused because it says the thompson consumer electronics and then over here it says the atlinx usa and those were the two companies that general electric often source telephones from but they're i believe they're two separate entities so i don't understand why they're appearing on the same telephone so the first thing i want to do here is check this battery compartment and make sure there's no battery in it specifically no dorsal battery because if there is a duracell battery it will probably ruin the telephone if it hasn't already oh look there's a duracell battery and it's kind of miraculous because it's not leaking yet doesn't even look like it's really bulged out or anything huh where's the expiration date 2006 wow so this has been around for spoke too soon i knew there would have been something wrong with this thing oh man door cell what an awful brand never buy a door saw battery again well it did fail just not as uh badly as it could have you know i was wondering what that stuff was maybe that was coming out of battery it is you know these batteries are a joke anyways um i guess that can go in the scrap metal box okay so now that that's out of the way and now this telephone won't get ruined anymore and to figure out how to clean that stupid door cell powder off of the thing um let's continue with the video so i've paid three dollars for this telephone and the reason i got this is because my aunt used to have a very similar model i think hers might have had a caller id screen up at the top it's been a while but i remember that phone very well because it had a problem where it would hum sometimes and so you could always tell when she was talking on that phone and then there was something else that was wrong with it i can't remember if it was if it was uh there was no audio on the handset or the screen would stop where something was wrong with it and if you shook the phone apparently it would fix it and there was one day when i called her and she answered like after the quarter of a second of ringing and says wow he answered it real quick and she says oh yeah i was just sitting here shaking the phone [Laughter] anyway so that's why i bought this because of that no idea if it works first quit i suspect this one's probably a piece of junk i think it's supposed to have a mounting bracket because it doesn't quite sit on the table quite right here's the adapter curiously enough of the collection to be taken apart and this one is the atlantic's so made in the china so maybe um maybe at links and tops and kind of paired together on this one for some reason i don't know i find it very bizarre maybe that letter uh that letter h can can provide some insight onto that because he likes these uh he likes some at links or atkins phones okay so let's see if it even works oh my gosh it does it's half a miracle um i don't know if the audio is better if i feed it through this amplifier or if i huddle up to the camera i know the other [Music] the other video thing seems to work better if i hold it up to it but this one not so much okay so it is working let's go ahead and ring it up and turn that amplifier off for a moment looks like the that's pretty cool the numbers seem to circulate when it's uh ringing it's recording a message i didn't want to do that okay let's see if we can adjust the ring volume here that's toe and pulse up at the top here's some informations message machine instructions on the camera it looks like that's going crazy but it's not it's just steadily illuminated in person zero zero is what it says when i turn it off doesn't get any better that's working just fine um that sounds like it goes quite layout wow that's impressive that's very loud okay let's see if it recorded it looks like it recorded let's see if we can turn the call screen off sunday ring to answer for message length 2 minutes security code messages message one okay twelve 02 a.m sunday message to go scoops one two three 11 01 p.m tuesday end of messages low battery there's some verbations on the speaker but otherwise that was kind of clear zero messages low battery two messages message one low battery zero messages low battery that's not very accurate because it's not zero messages it's two messages there's just none that are new zero messages answer off oops answer on report message after tone recording one two three one message message three recording one two three 11 03 p.m tuesday no battery for otherwise such a piece of junk that recording quality is actually pretty good okay i'll turn the volume all the way down then i'll record a message into it actually that's not the one i want to turn down okay let's try that [Applause] i am speaking as close as humanly possible to the microphone on this att 210 trim line telephone okay we'll record another message actually we'll change the greeting first yes we're gonna listen to speaking as close as humanly possible to the microphone on this att 210 sibling telephone 11 04 pm tuesday end of messages low battery report after tone record message record preaching after tone the quality of this answering machine is surprisingly good considering the apparent low quality of everything else about it the quality of this answering machine is surprisingly good considering the appearance the quality of this answering machine is surprisingly good considering the apparent low quality of everything else about it i really am impressed by the audio quality of this general electric atlinx thompson's telephone i'll do one more message so you can see the [Music] the screen of this answering machine is surprisingly good considering the apparent low quality of everything else about it goose oh hold on we have turned the volume up i really am impressed by the audio quality of this general electric atlinx thompson's telephone [Music] eleven message four i am speaking as close as humanly possible i really am impressed by the audio quality of this general electric atlinx thompson's telephone do you hear something in the background that's it message five i really am impressed by the audio quality of this general electric atlinx thompson telephone i really am impressed by the audio quality of this general electric atlinx thompson's telephone okay this there's a second voiceover i really am impressed by the audio quality of this general electric atlinx thompson's telephone oh my gosh what is that i swear it says who is that what is that method 5. i really am impressed by the audio quality of this general electric atlinx thompsons i really am impressed by the audio quality of this general electric atlinx thompson's telephone 11 05 p.m tuesday message six ghosts message five message six ghosts 11 0 6 p.m tuesday end of messages no battery okay so we're going to have to uh analyze that audio on the computer because i'm hearing a second voice in that message and it sounds like a woman that says who is this or who is that that's the second time now at least that i can recall there's been a second voice you know in the messages and and and this time okay the other time i believe it was with an outside line but this time that's really creepy because it's this is all internal okay the way this works is it goes from this phone look at that that that white cord that you're seeing there right here um okay goes into this box goes into this box which splits it into the simulator and then this wire here you can see it's connected to this telephone splitter right over there and it goes over to here there's no outside line connected right now so there's no way that another call could possibly have been intercepted there's no way that somebody else could have picked up another phone no way so whatever just transpired there i don't have an explanation for it anyways i don't know what these buttons do they're probably speed dial don't have the thing that went up on the top there let's go let's call and record a testing message turn your volume up a little bit [Music] it's on pulse this is a testing message from this 80 and not a t general electric thompson's atkins telephone [Music] now we're going to go to the outside line whoops pulse will not work in this case good afternoon never forget to pay a bill again with our automatic bill payment people's united bank na remember fcic today is sunday august 16th people's united bank showers likely today highs low 70s mostly cloudy overnight lows in the low 60s monday partly sunny and mostly seems to play the feedback adjustment through there rather than through the handstand earpiece okay so we know that works on an incoming side one new message and 16 old messages message one this is a testing message from this 18c okay now i think this may be able to record because it says two-way that's usually recording so let's call um i'll call the testing phone okay go ahead and answer it let's do two-way says tr or lr whatever that is line record maybe okay i just answered the 210 and of course i'm speaking very closely to the microphone as always one message okay i just answered the 210 and of course i'm speaking very closely to the microphone as always [Applause] 11 13 p.m tuesday messages blow badgery oh that's sticking let's record a line message here and record the line with the update for the week goose goose i want some blueberries 11 13 p.m tuesday night sounded weird farmer jones out here in the field with the update for the week of august the 10th juice goose i want the blueberries 20 20 11 14 p.m tuesday message erased end of messages low advisory 7 messages low battery messages okay so surprisingly enough it works perfectly fine and even more surprising the answering machine is really good quality for what it is and it's not as good as the um the true but it's definitely far above average
