okay this video is courtesy of Peleliu P who was asking the question about how to save player preferences so they use player preference is to keep the value string for the next scene then they put the value in the caption text drop-down list but unfortunately it never gets checked so I wrote a little script and all of that is described after the feed so in the middle of this UI component I have this drop-down list and you see that it's got a check mark against whatever one has been chosen now when you're rating a preferences or you know player configuration that kind of thing you want to be able to remember that so what we're gonna do now is we're gonna write a script that attaches a listener to this now this is a various ways to do it I'm gonna do it programmatically you could do it as you know attach a you know expose a public method all that kind of stuff I'm gonna do it this particular way just to sort of mix it up a little bit so I'm going to create a c-sharp script here and I'm just gonna call it save drop down drop down valley so I'll call it save drop down value and I'm gonna double click that to start Visual Studio and so now I have my saved drop down value I'm not gonna need an update because we it's a UI components hold on using events but I do need to know the drop down that I'm gonna be attached to so I'm going to say public sorry private drop down and I need to have a public string preference named X let's make that a constant obviously let's do a Const string and press name the cause option value and we also need to add using unity engine so I want to have a UI component in here as well because we need access to our drop-down and we need to avoid a week as well and finally the last thing we need is a require component type of drop because this is going to be placed on a droplet now this part here you can decide how you serialize your data to your file or database or wherever it is this is just to show you how you can save and recover that value that's the purpose of this this this video here so inside there week what we're gonna do is we're gonna grab that drop-down component in fact we don't really need to have as a private we can just have it as a local variable here because we don't really need it otherwise no we do need it sorry we do need it because we need it down here so we do need it inside this talk so I'm gonna do drop down it cause get component drop down and that gets that and then we can attach the listener...
