Save multiple us state
Hi, in this video we will learn how we can have more than one scene state or scene setup for different rendering scenarios without the need to save multiple Max files. Here we have a very simplistic scene with simple objects that have some V-Ray materials applied to them nothing sophisticated here. And I have a V-Ray Sun, also if I click the 8 button I see I have a V-Ray Sky in the background this is added automatically when you create the V-Ray Sun. I also have a V-Ray Rectangular light, this one I will use for my studio render scenario. I have V-Ray Camera so what I wanna do is I wanna create two scenarios, one is a daylight rendering and the second one is a studio rendering, now for the studio rendering I'm not going to do any some any professional kind of setup here because this is not the goal of the video just a simple rectangular light. So as you know the two scenarios they need different setup for the lighting and the camera shutter speed and stuff like that. So for example, in the daylight rendering I don't need the rectangular light I also need to change the shutter speed to make it high because this is a very strong light so I need to make it like 200 or something like that, which is different than the studio rendering. Also, in the studio rendering I don't want to have the V-Ray Sun, maybe also, in the studio rendering I like to experiment with changing the location of the camera or maybe change some materials, maybe hiding some objects. Anyway, what I wanna do, I wanna be able to save two states so I can toggle between them, I can restore any one of them at any time without the need to save more than one Max file. So let's start with the daylight scenario, for the daylight, first I'm gonna select the V-Ray rectangular light and turn it off. I will click here it will be black here in the viewport. Also, I need to check the Exposure of the camera, so I go here and I see that it is 50 I need it to be more than that so I will make it 200. Also, in the white balance I will choose daylight for this one here I already have the V-Ray Sky it's ON, so now I'm ready to save these parameters, these setups, so I go to Tools, "Manage Scene States...", and click Save. Here you have all the parameters that you like to store their current values, current state. For example, by default, all of them are selected so for example, Object Properties, that means when you select an object and Right- Click and choose Object Properties, everything you see there it is saved in this state. The Light Transforms, that means Light Transforms and Camera Transforms, transforms means moving, rotating, scaling, so Max will save the current transformations of the the lights and the cameras it will save their position and orientation and stuff like that. Also, at the Object Properties it will save, not just the Object Properties that you find in the Properties dialog, also the frozen and hidden state will be saved also. For the materials, it's it's easy to understand well it will save the materials set up. The Environment, I need to add the Environment, it's already added. By the way, you don't need to select everything just select things that you know or maybe you think you're gonna change after. If you know that you gonna change some of the materials after saving this state you wanna add the materials, this way the materials setup will be saved, this way you can restore the current state whenever you want. And for the environment, I need it because in the studio rendering I will turn off the V-Ray Sky, so I will add, I need the environment, this way when I go back to the daylight setup I can restore the V-Ray Sky. So now I need to give this a name so I will call it "Daylight Render" and I will click Save. I will close the dialog. Now let's save the studio light scenario so to do that first let's change the parameters change the settings to create our Studio rendering scenario. First, I need to turn OFF the V-Ray Sky, V-Ray Sun sorry. Here I need to turn ON the Rectangle light and the V-Ray camera I will decrease the shutter speed because now the light is much weaker so I need a slower shutter speed to allow more light to come in so I will make it 50. Also, for the white balance I will choose Neutral. I will click 8 and turn OFF the "Use Map", I don't want to use the V-Ray Sky, and also let's change the position of the camera a little bit and let's also change the material of this Teapot, I will apply this material to it, now Rename call it something else okay and maybe also I want to hide those two objects. Now, let's save the current scene, the current parameters. I will go to Tools "Manage Scene States...", Save, I have all the parameters selected I will give it a name: "Studio Render", Save. Now, let's say now I want to restore the daylight render scenario, so what I can do I click the daylight render and look what happens here and I will click restore now it will ask me it will show me all the parameters that I already saved and it's asking me if I want to restore everything now everything is selected so in my case now I will just restore everything so I'll click Restore and as you can see the the V-Ray rectangular light a light is OFF, the V-Ray Sun is ON, the camera shutter speed is 200 and the White Balance is daylight. Also, if I click 8 the "Use Map" is ON again. And by the way, I could have also deleted this one in the studio render and it will be restored again in the daylight render setup. Now, I will click the studio render I will click Restore, and it's asking me what are the properties that I like to restore here it will show you the properties that you saved I will restore everything so I will click Restore, as you can see the camera shifted here again the Sun is disabled, the V-Ray rectangular light is enabled but if I click 8 "Use Map" is disabled also. And this way I can create more than one scenario in the same scene without the need to create multiple 3D studio Max files. And basically that's it, if you have any comment please leave them in the comment area and if you like the video please press the LIKE button and Subscribe to the channel and thank you for watching! :)
