Save patron radio

whoo all right we are live on a special Monday how is everybody anybody have a case of the moon dews thanks for coming in and checking us out today we've got some fun stuff going on some some really cool stuff we've got a brand Meister Talk group on DMR brand Meister Talk group on DMR yeah so make sure you're checking that out it's number they're on the bottom three one six two one you can key your ad to that in fact I've got the radio on so if there's anybody that's listening ki6 n AZ come now if anybody that's listening on the talker but this time let's see if there's anybody out there I know there was people who's there to this dream I let subs axes X our moderator in the chat okay excellent excellent so cool we got some guys already on there cool all right so we are going to probably set up a DMR net at some point whether it's weekly or how we figure it out that's gonna be a lot of fun so if you don't already have one you might want to think about getting a DMR radio and potentially a hotspot and that's kind of the route I needed to go that's why I haven't been really that full force about DMR yet is because gosh you know we just we just didn't have a lot of repeaters in the area that would mind me going in there monkeying around and all that stuff so yeah anyway what's up everybody welcome to the ham radio crash course again we do have three one six two one going I'm gonna turn this down a little bit go ahead and get that going there'll be people listening in the talk group if um if you want to reach out to them while we are chatting and doing our thing you can talk to them live so along with that today or the big effort today is somebody reached out and they they went on patreon and they popped for the the rat the radio all set up with the antenna and the programming cable so we're gonna do that live today and they decided to go with a UV 82 HP can't fault them for that is either the UV 82 or the BFF 8 HP are my two preferred bough things so we're gonna I've got no problem with that so we're gonna do a little bit of live programming before we get into it we'll check the chat room hey Clint is that Clint or cliff cliff okay cliff I jumped to a conclusion there Wayne Dickinson I watched the six tech license videos three last Thursday 3:00 on Friday took five or six practice tests on the ADA exam page and then tested on Sat repeated two pints before tests passed without breaking a sweat all right that's awesome well speaking of cider they said cider so why don't we open our beer for today today we've got the sticky monkey by Firestone this comes in a wooden you know not wooden I guess it wasn't wood at some point a cardboard box it's a Central Coast quad very wild and crazy' beer here it's a big one - morning from Denmark Stefan Mathiason welcome thank you so much for hopping in I need a bow Fang hat says DJ's names you're right but they don't send me one I wear the stuff that the people send me I wear the hats that are provided by the people so if you provide me a hat I'll wear it I mean within reason can't be you know something pretty pretty wild but yeah who else we got in there with the new tech license or new license Daniel asked has the tech license changed much not that much I believe they've changed about 60 of them or so either by addition or removing old ones not that bad somebody asked Karl in which one do you prefer more regarding the belvane radios the BFF AHP or the UV 82 HP so they're both 8 watt radios they're both very similar in spec I've got a H and UV 82 HP right here and we'll look at the BF 82 I'm sorry the UV 82 in a second and I'll show you kind of side by side what they look like it's really a personal preference they're both decent radios starter radios I've got no problem with either one and the UV 80 to get some points for it and the BFF 8 gets some points but we'll talk about that in a little bit so anyway want to always as you know kick this show off although we've kind of already been kicked sideways a little bit at least you know we're moving forward with radio right every day we're learning a bit more today if case in point I had a total meltdown with the programming cable my normal programming cable had to re figure out how to program the BAL Fang for some reason that just didn't work before starting the so scrambling minutes beforehand so yeah um gosh alright so move over the radio I have an analogy here and it came to me I was driving driving to and from running errands today so um as Henry operators we're doers we're learnt we learn something to do it hen radio is not really a participation sport it's a doing sport sport okay maybe not sport for fox hunters it probably is but we're all about learning something and then applying it and learning something and applying it so never let anybody get in your way of learning something and applying it go out there and and actually do it now I know sports and this isn't to make fun of sports or anything the sports is a spectator thing it's more spectators than the actual people playing the sport and there are people who will rattle off to you every little detail in sports dumb every team they like every team they don't like and they'll tell you why etc etc to their face um goes blue memory does not like that mm radio is about doing so we learned to do right so always keep that in mind mm-hmm very good let's see when's Jerry making another ht1 video don't know yeah beau Brewer um asked how do I contribute I'm new thanks don't pay the bills uh very nice of you you know there's lots of different ways to do it there's a patreon link in the description I try to make that worth something so I put on a newsletter every month it costs a dollar to be a patron to start and it goes up from there and there's different perks you can use my amazon shopping link which is also in the description and that goes for anything just just copy that and do your searching on that search bar and buy and I get a piece of the action oh and then you can do super chat which if you're gonna do super chat at least ask me a question and that way I can put you on the top of the heap there and make sure that yeah you get your question answered if you got a good one okay so we got good morning from New Zealand Wow Carl link says I exercise with ham radio that's awesome so I want to Segway a bit same topic moving forward with radio but I got this comment the other day now this isn't this isn't at all really complaining about this individual but he says not to be rude and this was in regards to the stream we did on picking a mobile radio right we did a live stream on that and said not to be rude but I find this video very annoying I know you're trying to grow the hobby and I've developed a serious interest that being said you're not staying on point with all the live chat crap I came to learn something instead I'm watching you in a chat room interrupted with some bits of info information knowledge I'll try to revisit the video will I have a little more time in patience to try another again not trying to be rude or disrespectful maybe I should watch your videos your own videos and you'll see how distracting and annoying for some who is thirsty for knowledge to stay focused so first I don't take any offense to that you don't have to apologize and even though I did use that guy's personal name don't go spam them because this is not a there's no complaining here there's no problem this person obviously learns a certain way may be better suited for looking up one of the videos that does PowerPoint slides and only PowerPoint slides and sticks to a predefined syllabus we don't have that here the ham radio crash course we talk about what is factual and we talk about experiential things and we try and weave together and I am one to go off on tangents so hang on and I hope that it doesn't bother you guys entirely fully completely but you know that's kind of how that's kind of how it is sometimes with with these streams I look at the chat we've got you know what let me turn on the radio I got a PRS going as well if you want to send me that it's dad ki 6n AZ - seven and now we've got the talk group so it's gonna be chaos and that's good that's good it's fun lots of fun looks like we've got about 75 people in the chat room right now if you could do me a favor hit that like button it really helps to let other people know that the chats going on what happens is YouTube ranks it higher and people see it and hopefully click on and maybe stumble into the Hobby and find something new and then last point make sure you go joined the ham radio crash course on facebook if you have not I believe we are cresting almost 800 members we're right there in fact I may look over to Facebook and we might be right there so did you Caleb says I just got an official email from the SEC giving me access to the official copy of my general license thanks for the motivation absolutely you were very welcome for that good evening from Minnesota tangents you sound like my math teacher from last year as a math term of going off on tangents yes very pretty much the same idea all right so last reminder before we kick off into the whole point and we're actually gonna do a call I'm gonna call this this patron and we're gonna have a little talk about the theory of the bow fangs and the theory of all that after we open the box what's the like button it's the thumbs up button thumbs up is alike it's kind of what that means says piggy and lastly when we end this whole thing up we're gonna end with a Q&A at the end and then we'll end it and we'll go to discord Zack is in the chat already with links to the discord free to join free to play which is both text-based and live voice chat system where we have a ham radio crash course and we'll be talking on that and as always towards the end the stream will open it up again for the DMR guys so I'm super excited let's take a look at this radio all right boom here we go so let me get my keyboard out the way because I'm not going to need that for a little while all right so here is what we got we have an upgraded antenna the Nagoya 0 7 o n a 7 0 1 and the preferred cable that I always mentioned whoo my chat just died hold on let me go back here did I lose the chat oh it's the wrong chat hold on one second Vlad ow there we go okay so the chats back sorry about that I made these different sized chats and apparently there's getting away so anyway this is a UV 82 box as it comes from Amazon and here is my hot spot twinkling in the background as you guys are looks like you're talking looks like there's activity I keep seeing the red light pop up anyway this is the preferred cable sorry it's more expensive I don't control these I don't make these I just recommend them as being the one you should get the reason they work is they have an official serial to USB chip in here and that's what makes it work with the radios unlike the cheesy ones which are seven dollars or whatever you have to use a modified driver to support that so anyway antenna and then the the programming cable goes in the kit but what's in the UV 82 well it's it's much like all the BAL things it's got a instruction manual and the radio which is kind of the meat and potatoes of the whole thing the radio is an interesting design so it's got two connectors on the back and it's got a seal here cuz it's semi waterproof water resistant splash resistant seal here right there so clicks into place and here's your here's your and your radio now a couple of things jump out at me let me get the box out of the way so I can I can talk to the specifics between the UV 82 and the BFF AHP so here's the two radios side-by-side and there's no there's no pocket clip on the back of the 82 the UV 82 yet but you can already see a big difference UVA teaches a bit thinner and taller and it's a bit skinnier also the screens are transposed screen on the bottom with 82 and on top with the you weight BFF eight you know BFF HP now buttons are a bit full-featured on this one and you don't have the same V fomr as you do with the a and B slot on the bow Fang 82 the reason this has dual PTP buttons and Carl's in the chat so I know he's paying attention to this he was asking me what is the dual PTT mean well when you turn these suckers on they've got two rows of channels they've got an A in a B slot and you can work on whichever one you want you can set them to receive both at the same time dual receive what that means is that you are basically listening to channels at one time one generally wins out over the other but you can in theory listen to two channels now with the BFF 8hp you have to click the a and B button to go from the top or bottom slot and then that makes the PTT button active with the 82 however you just click whichever one you want you got an a button and a B button so you just say I want to talk on a which could be simplex fm simplex VHF simplex or B could be whatever your local repeater is right so keep that in mind when you're looking to purchase a radio I have both these links in the Amazon store you can check that out below I get right real go get the Dean says get the real cable spent hours in ignorance with the wrong Bell fan cable and it sucked I've made videos on this topic before and we've talked about it on the live stream guys I'm telling you I am saying this because your time is worth more than the $20 at this cable cost I spent hours and hours and hours fooling around with the bad cable do not buy the bad cable by the legitimate cable I'm telling you it will save it'll save your marriage okay don't go to marriage counselor just just buy that you've the proper BFF 8hb thing let me just walk out my beacon really fast [Music] okay cook all right so that way I should get messages anything to be sending me mmm oh I got to mention this I'm in such a hurry I'm always in such a hurry because I only got an hour here and I feel like in the beginning I got to get that motor going the sticky monkey is insanely good it's called a Central Coast quad it's a barrel aged stout is what it is in essence it's good eight percent alcohol got a sweet but kind of nutty taste to it so anyway that covers the radios you plug the thing in let's go - chirp really fast I can show you what that looks like and then we'll call ke 6 e xx so hang on tight hopefully he's still hanging around cuz I know he won't he's got some questions and that's part of what this whole radio thing is about so let me switch over here alright so I get asked all the time how do i download chirp take me from the very beginning take me all the way take me all the way from point A to point I have downloaded chirp and I'm operating with the radio so I'm gonna get as close to that as I can so here we go where the heck is it here we go so you click on home you google the word chirp like bird chirp and you click on home - chirp from chirp Dan planet.com doot doot so this is it this is all there is to it you click the button that says get it hi lull from ka for boy e on APRs just came in what's up well I already talked to him I think on DMR so all you gotta do is just scroll to your operating system and getting download the one you want Windows version Mac OS version Oh boon to Linux it tells you what to do so you just click on the one you want and it downloads it oh my god all the messages are coming in ok we're gonna turn it down a bit good so all you do then is download the one that matches your operating system super super easy that's all there is to it ok so let's go ahead and plug this guy in I've got my I got my cable here all set up I am using my personal cable leave ke 6e X X is cable alone so it's got a cool little rubber door so just open up the rubber door and connect it to in fact let's see if I can show you a different view of this maybe maybe maybe okay so we've got it connected right so now when I go back to chirp all you need to do here is I made a desktop shortcut I'm gonna run chirp really fast okay this is chirp big gray screen click radio download from Radio always connect your radio first and have it turned on first before you do this before you start chirp we're gonna use comm 4 which is depending on what plug you've plugged your cable into here's a piece of advice start chirp with nothing connected no USBs nothing just an empty computer startup both are startup chirp and count how many comport s-- there are there's probably not gonna be a lot there's gonna be one maybe two close the program down take your programming cable take the radio turn the radio on connect the radio to the cable connect the other end of the cable into the computer restart chirp you should see a new port and guess what that's the port's you use that's all there is to it ok so we're gonna use comm for it's a Bao Fang it's a UV 82 HP and it should go oh warning this is a dangerous driver and you got to be careful so we want to proceed yes and we get a light flashing here's the light flashing okay we are what's going on here there we go lights flashing cloning cloning cloning cloning cloning and there we go that's what it looks like so these are all the frequencies channels that are loaded on the radio as you get it don't worry about that crap you could save it you might want to save it off just in case in fact I'll do that I'll say file save as and this is just in case you brick it or you do something we're gonna just say UVA t2 old so that's in case we brick it alright so now we've saved off the file so this is about the point where I would say okay let's start programming the way we want to see the way you'd want to see whatever it was whoever you're doing it for so why don't we call our friend here let's do that now and I need to put my headphones out for this all right hey Josh hey how's it going let's check your audio I hear ya cool cool okay so I'm at the point where I've got your radio connected and we've downloaded from Radio and we just need to know a couple of things what county are you in okay and primarily so do you have your technician license already yes oh great okay have you are you gonna try and upgrade to general at all now that there's now that I'm getting back into AM radio and I found out there's no code for any of them anymore yes excellent excellent so I got a side question really fast in the chat I know you can't see the chat cuz you you you're just talking to me which I appreciate somebody asks does chirp work on radios with digital modes now piggy it does not you need to use the brand of software that matches the radio so in this case the red of SRT 82 you got to use their software okay sorry for that tangent there all right so you're in Crawford you probably want to work for Peters do you want scanning capability do you want to hear right a weather radio what is your kind of plans for the radio at this time yes yes okay good that's my normal starting point anyway so okay so pretty easy do you think that you're gonna operate on repeaters more often than anything kind of deal and and spend less time listening to weather listening to FRS gmrs that kind of thing yeah pretty much okay so then what we'll do is we'll start out with we want to use get my keyboard we want to make sure that the first couple of channels are the VHF simplex that's what I really like to do so that's one four six Kancil I'm working off the team who were here while I'm doing this live so one for 6.5 to zero which is VHF sim and there's no tone to that that's just straight-up simplex people calling out if they need help local comms all that stuff so that's set to channel one which is kind of like your go-to if there's a problem you know make sure you use that right have you um do you have a radio at this point at all is this going to be kind of your first one we're hot yeah I have three currently t uh yeah I have a bow thing the SAH feet okay the UV 25 X 4 mm-hmm and a Yi soo ft 70d are ok which ones do you like the most right now actually the bow fire yeah that's pretty funny it's easier to work than Jason and easier to work than which a soon the FT 70 really oh yeah I couldn't have asked you for a better plug so um probably a week or so from now I'm gonna go hang out at HRO and we're gonna do some kind of live product reviews I haven't decided if I'm gonna stream it or if I'm gonna or if I'm gonna work just a video just you know something that is uploaded after the fact and I think our first one's gonna be the FT 70 so that's that's awesome it's good to know people have a hard time with it because Billy Bob tells me it's the it's the easiest radio to program so he must have some secrets there yeah he asked me because I tried programming that radio by hand and got lost mm-hmm and because in our sago County which is north of me is at our Gaylord and they had a system fusion he for a while this infusions down currently okay but so I got that to be able to talk from here we're on that about forty fifty miles away on the system fusion okay yeah and well it's down doubt so how do you like system fusion have you had much good experience with it I haven't gotten any experience with it okay radio mmm-hmm I can finish programming it yeah this is really yeah hmm well I'm gonna make sure I take notes on that so that I can I can go work with Billy Bob and we can we can we can do something cool so I'm looking at Crawford Michigan on two meters and you really only have about four repeaters that show up which is not that big a deal because if they're active who cares and it looks like the comments are a grayling Roskam on Moorestown and Mancelona do those sound right yep okay okay cool so what I'm gonna do is I'm gonna increase that to 50 miles just so you get a good default load if you will okay do you get around a lot I mean that that you need to have that yes okay excellent that's good to know yeah cuz sometimes you don't um the extra spaces you don't want it so you don't want to miss putting a good repeater in your radio because you filled it up with things that are too far away you know what I mean yeah so for instance they got okay so there's 35 when you increase it to 100 miles so that's great we can do that really easily so let's just Auto align some of these are like the El Mira and the grillak evil is grayed out because they must be disabled at this point but no big deal I'm not putting on let's see if I can order these a bit different okay and and as always I'm gonna send you this and I'm gonna send you the programming file and then when you get it if things are not organized the way you want it we can work over the phone and sort it out because sometimes because you're putting a hundred miles repeaters in it's gonna kind of sort it by name or callsign or whatever and so you may not like you know the way it's lined up so we can move things around pretty easily but anyway all we're gonna do is add it to the third station or the third memory location which I'll do right now so I'm gonna hit plus one plus one plus one so starting at memory slot number three will be all your VHF stations so there you go so now we've got thirty five of the hundred and twenty seven or so channels all programmed up which is just good so the next step is we're gonna do VHF okay same thing hundred miles Crawford Michigan yep and we're gonna go 70 centimeters and we don't get that many via chat or UHF so that's okay so that's actually not bad because it leaves us with a lot of extra space that we can put in things like the weather station scanner frequencies and all that so we'll go ahead and drop those in at 36 and if anybody's watching this and they want to know what I'm doing I'm using chirp to program a bow Fang and I have a ton of videos on that topic which woo sometimes chirp gets a little crazy okay so it's at item 50 line 50 on theirs when we'll start things like the weather the weather stations and the scanners for like police yeah so what I generally like to do unless I run out of space I leave all the Weather Channel's on and then I turn them so that you can't scan them so the way to do that where is the weather alert okay there's the weather alert I almost start at 50 and pretty easy to skip is you just go to 5000 let's let's delete that okay so starting at 50 man my team viewers freaking out so starting at 50 all your weathers channels are gonna be skipped so just go in here and say skip and so what that means is when you turn scanning on it'll skip the weather stations because what happens at least where I'm at you get a crazy amount of weather stations that are constantly transmitting and it always stops your scanner which is wasting time so I just leave them all all off yeah so what's the do you have a police scanner or anything in your area there are up in me all of them are or you have any okay well that's good to know okay so let's let's switch back over here the web will talk about this stuff in a second let's go to Crawford Michigan police frequencies see what we get okay so it takes us to radio reference okay Crawford County yeah we got some here so Crawford County looks like we have fire dispatch EMS dispatch EMS tactical Road Commission which I always say I love those Road Commission's because anything that's like anything that's like a new like a road closure or municipal Public Works really good to have an emergency situation so you know where people are going yeah and then you've got the Transit Authority which I don't know if that's a big thing we'll probably leave that off how close are you to Beaver Creek or Frederick Township very close to Frederick okay so that's interesting it looks like they might all have gone okay so yeah none of their police is mentioned here the whole state is up immediate our mayor range hmm so I bet they're also encrypted yes we are okay so that's how so that's a bit screwy that messes with things a bit but okay let's go with what we have so we'll make sure that we put the fire dispatch the EMS one EMS two and the roads and then we'll think you said Frederick is also close yes very close okay they're not the same so that's fine we'll we'll do that so alright this is there's easier ways of doing this let me tell people that are watching the stream you um you can pay for a membership - radio reference when I was programming a lot of radios I did pay for one for a month just so I could program everything up and save them um you don't really need that I don't really need that now so I've kind of gone away from that keep that in mind you can pay for a subscription it makes things really really easy to program a radio using chirp you can do it all local to chirp if you go that way but you know now you don't have to do that however you do have to go in and just hand you know hand type in so I'm gonna do that now I'm gonna type in in fact let me do this just so that we can move the stream forward without wasting everybody's time I'll program in all the local Crawford and what was it I'll do that off stream since I don't want to waste everybody's time as you can imagine people don't want to sit here and watch me just type right okay so then let's do I'll put the FRS stations right after that and gmrs that way you can make sure to listen but never transmit because that would be illegal right [Laughter] so tongue-in-cheek there a bit but yeah somebody's asked me their days how effective are bow fangs on gmrs and fr-s and and they're not actually that good they don't perform that well so I don't really have good experience with them but anyway they'll be there I do find really interesting conversations people have on fr-s and gmrs gmrs in particular pretty wild so let's see all right we've got um we've got the station's make sure pretty Township Fire EMS and Public Works is there on is there anything else you work is there simplex at all stations that you work other than VHF and uhf national call frequency now if we could add like Toronto team leader Karl Canada okay well we can add some do you know is there is there any particular repeater so I'm assuming Toronto has a crazy ton of repeaters or you do you have a couple that you talk on no I've never been up there I'm planning on going well oh okay so it's always so I can't really tell well I can do a little we'll have a little fun here since I've got everybody watching what we'll do is we're gonna go to broadcast fi let's see if we can do toronto repeater or if you are watching and you happen to live in toronto and you've got repeaters that are popping say something in the meantime we pull up broadcast if I hear I'll see we've got broadcast if I the V III twr there's no listeners well let's see if there's even anybody on it it says offline way to go Toronto Greater Toronto audio feeds looks like pretty quiet please Toronto Oh what's this okay so the VA 3 power PW are repeaters let's see if they've got anybody I'm not hearing anything well it is kinda white no yeah that's true okay okay so Toronto two meter I'll figure out well somebody's keying up Oh Theo t vo t and the chat is saying one 45.4 one that TW r we are listening that we had up is most popular so all right so good Thank You Theo T let's do one four five four one when are you going to Toronto just Toronto I don't take the destination per se yet oh no when when do you think you're going probably October okay so I got plenty of time if you tell me that you were going next week I feel like oh man I don't know I get you I don't know I can get you the radio in time somebody asked in the chat do I have a digital or we do in digital yes we've got a brand Meister talk group we're on three one six two one there's people chatting right now if you want to go jump in there if you're not already on discord okay Theo T I'm telling you guys twr is most popular okay we heard you I'll also add the VA three power as well now since I am NOT in Toronto if I program this radio and there's a lot of people in there saying slur and being bad don't give me a hard time because I did not good deal okay let's see anything else let's check the let's check the the queries are pretty easy import from stock free net LP DPM our Marine I don't think you need Marine VHF no no CA railroads you don't need California we got the calling frequencies let's let's check the calling frequencies are already what I have so good and let's do MERS as well so we might as well load MERS on there alright let's see actually I don't know if some of the MERS is gonna work yeah MERS will be fine okay we'll load that up to 82 okay alright so now we got I'm getting messages like crazy I'll hit that up in a second as messages so so yeah I'm gonna save this so we don't lose it excellent alright is there anything else you you need I know we talked in tenez you didn't want the super long one that would get in the way so I went with the the other the kind of second best because you know the longer it is the better is gonna perform I won't naa DNA's 7:01 which is a good antenna oh you do have this Evan said okay well that's perfect okay cool so you'll have the 7:01 to go along with that then yeah okay but the issue is is sometimes in the car mm-hmm the way trying to use it it gets to to gangly to in the way yeah yeah yeah you know being outside so I'm proof of concept of it the radio is flashing too so it is programming so you get the the ha seal of approval that it works yeah absolutely cool all right so is there anything else any well you got me on the phone anything you want to ask well while we're live - how many people do we got I haven't even checked in a little while how many people do we have we got about 80 people listening right now thank you for watching yeah what any questions you have while you're moving on possibly getting your general uh what would you suggest for I have the ARL manual mm-hmm is there any suggestions for like online studying that you'd suggest yeah correct me if I'm wrong Zack or anybody the guy who makes the signal stick which is a really nice antenna as well ham study work I believe is the is the website kind of friend of the ham radio crash course he's often comes in the discord chat with us and yeah ham study org would be the one I would recommend basically free you know sweet yeah because I didn't study you know and I took the test I only got nine right so now I'm gonna try and study actually okay excellent um yet did you try the did you try the app the a double oral app no I have I just yeah oh yeah okay take your time with it and and go check and you know make sure you look at the hajj nazi videos on on getting your general but yeah i would i would start with that for sure yeah well actually looking your technician stuff yeah because i haven't i got my license is 92 while y'all saying right i got out of it in about 95 and my license active but didn't use it okay i wanted to go back and you know look at stuff and i was looking around you know on YouTube and I found your videos in there really great video well thank you thank you for the solicited a ad there I appreciate it not a problem you know because it was like you know yeah it was all rehash for me but it was making sure that I was still current oh I got you're sure yeah makes you think you're not too far out of the loop right yeah did I mean since 95 you know that's over 20 years yeah well what's change what's you know going on so the good news is that things only gotten better things have only gotten better as we've gotten further along technologies improved electronics have improved it's just it's an amazing time to be a ham radio operator even with the internet it makes it even better well see what I used to have was an HD act - OH - by RadioShack oh okay all right all right so you know you know like these bow things they didn't exist back then you know they're great radio yeah and so you know I had to check and see you know just you know people were talking about the bow thing you know some people hate it some people love it yeah and just watching your videos I'm like let me buy one of those mm-hmm they're not that expensive yeah I mean you can't you can't beat the price you can't beat the value option I think though as as perhaps as you start going further in your journey you might want to start adding things like DMR a PRS and possibly even then venture into HF because I mean you said you're in Michigan you know we could talk over HF as the Sun cycle gets better you know radio propagation improves and all of a sudden we're talking across the country without much problem so those are it's kind of like a toolkit right if the bow thing if the bow Fang was any kind of tool it's it's probably like the ball peen hammer it just does one thing it just pins that's all it does it just peen on and there's more nuanced tools more you know delicate instruments and more you know robust instruments so you know that's that's kind of good you know exactly it you know it does a great thing for what it's for mm-hmm you know and of course I'm gonna be getting into HS for the car yeah yeah you know going forward with that too especially once I get my general but you know it's time yeah you know because I'm a disabled person I got injured at work okay so it's septa money aside to get the radio down the road mm-hmm yeah and you know I I'd reach out to your if you haven't already maybe find a local club as I've always mentioned you can you can do pretty well by having use stuff that they're getting rid of is great for almost everybody all the time hands are usually really good to their equipment so you should explore that option too you know oh yes well the local club we're on that is pretty much dead mm-hmm there may be twelve members maybe mm-hmm I Drive up into a sago County in the Gaylord for their hamper and nobody's getting rid of any radios up there currently right I you know I told them hey I wanna look out you know an HF rig we want to give them a general you know it's got to be a mobile rig Foreman or things like that and so you know those are some pretty great guys up there and they're keeping their eye out for me that's good that's excellent well okay um I'll finish this up off air and I'll get it all put back in the box and shipped out to you probably this coming week so I appreciate the support and I really it really means a lot to and thanks for doing what you did anything else parting words anything you want to say before we go back to the standard stream just everybody keep watching Josh he's a great guy well thank you all right all right that's ke6 exx again thanks to him for for being a patron and doing what he does so all right I'm gonna end it there and hang on everybody we're just ending the call hold on one second all right so I'm gonna go ahead and let's let's turn it back over the desk here so I've got the the BFF 8hp the Bao Fang and the the red of this and they're sitting around the little on the white and this is I know this is starting to look like a meme I don't know if this is is this this might be too much somebody won't report me I'm gonna turn up the red abyss right now yep oh I did it now went the wrong way all right here we go ki 6 na z all right um bow fan or not pal thank all our HRC listeners that are on the talk group once you go ahead we can try and do some semblance of a Q&A that might be awesome let's see if we can do it well they do that I'm gonna get my power meter for 2 meter 70 centimeter where I put it oh I don't hear anybody it's nobody out there okay i 6 na z calling out to the talk group anybody have any questions at this time should put it back by the mic always always be learning I guess that's the meaning of my life anyway I always be learning all right so I need an adapter for this guy so I can plug it in like a so let's see if this actually puts out 8 watts that was what Zack asked me in the chat well I lost you there that broke up a little bit you know I want to try that again well great this is kilo alpha for Bravo or India compliment seniors um thought oh nice yeah I gotta say I really like this thing I got this thing set up and I felt like I had it running in 30 minutes and then it took about another 30 minutes to get it fully set up and I'm can use my yaesu fusion system radio and talk to this talk group which is pretty cool okay so we've got part 1 of this we've got it hooked up so I can install yeah it's not the slickest of all solutions but it works pretty well so km for wdk ass anyone know how I can get into the talker through my local repeater so hopefully Zak answers you cuz Zak's gonna know better than me but as my understand the repeater owner has to support it okay so um I couldn't find the exact connectors that I wanted but I have enough connector so that I'm not dummy loading this so anyway here we go I've got the MFJ power connected to the 82 I'm doing this blind so I'm going to turn this off I'm gonna turn it on and so this is on let's okay so now I have vhf/uhf call frequencies on both so here we go nope wrong way and ready what is that what I have this set - oh that's why power okay there we go okay where are we ten that's on UHF and VHF what is that telling me power oh do I have this on low power yeah it's on low I'm like oh man I'm in trouble this thing's a dog here we go power on VHS on UHF not great hold on power on now that couldn't be it alright confirmed it's still on low all right wait oh oh oh Will Robinson I may have huh well we have an interesting situation happening right now I can't set this above low power okay interesting okay let me try something hold on okay it can go high power at least that's who I've got a I gotta figure out why is it wrong anyway here's high power all right so that's that let's go to UHF okay here's the UHF that's looks like five all right am I reading this what oh that's it okay so sometimes if you're programming a repeater that's in Michigan you might be programming it for DMR here in California so that's good yeah I've got a signal stick on this right now which is my current VHF UHF antenna okay all right so I'm gonna figure out what's going on with that it only is putting out five watts it looks like right now and I'm going to have to I'm gonna have to figure out what that's about looks like it's putting out five watts but I'm pretty sure I can fix that Shane Martin yes it was set to default low but that is something you should be able to to kind of overpower if you will in the radio settings but it kept going back to low so I don't know yeah lnj the wind system I find rather boring L&J you will hear me on the wind system occasionally and I say occasionally because it's I agree it can be a little it can be a little boring so before we go and in fact I'm gonna okay so I've got I've got the red of us on so if there's anybody on the talker if they wants to say anything you can pretty much do that now I want to throw up some some links I've got here to a couple of things where did my website go here we go so one um this is my hot spot so I've got it all set up and I've got it supporting DMR and system fusion this is PI star now I've got a zoom spot I bought it today because I needed it right now and they had it at HR oh you can save a couple dollars and you can go down in the description for my video to the Amazon store and I think I have a PI star capable pretty much the same device that's available on Amazon I think it's under $100 right now so you can you can get the same effect of having a programmable talk group or a programmable hotspot and these things work it works very well I was very surprised I I was shocked at how easy it was to set up so you buy it if it's preloaded with with PI star you'll you'll just run it start it up get it set up on the Wi-Fi and then you'll connect to it from a browser like you're seeing right here and you're kind of off to the races the setup is it's very easy once you kind of understand DMR in fact I think getting the DMR radio setup is more complicated than getting the the the hotspot set up pretty pretty awesome let me show you what this thing looks like a little bit up close so this is actually the the memory card sticking out right here yeah right there is that memory card and it Krane preloaded with PI star and you can see what it's programmed to support currently because those lights are flipping between DMR and ysf for yaesu system fusion so it's pretty cool that's really cool tech I was I'm very impressed with with the entire unit Zack says if you want to build a hotspot for yourself you can for about forty five dollars in an hour and a half of your time I believe it yeah I'm there's all kinds of things you can do with these things they're awesome right now the the ant on the as berry pie and the boards you can buy online and then you can do all kinds of little hacks to put screens on them and whatnot super cool um dennis dunder Dale I don't know is he commenting on the signal stick coiled is not bad on my you v5r for repeaters by my way I never so yeah I was just doing the the coiled over I think he was talking about the antenna I was just doing the coil over antenna so that I could do a power output but I wouldn't operate like that okay to make it all work done actually let me this is my brand Meister page so anyway want to give a big shout out to the talk group here let me what's going on brand Meister why don't we just go ahead and open our second second bottle here I've got a nice little brute cider a cedar day and we want three one two I'm sorry three one six two one HRC see look at that we've got our own thing so let's look at the information well I open this bottle Oh what's going on there we go so we have a ton of people pop your bottles kids we got a ton of people that are on the talk group and I want to encourage everybody to load up the top group and use the talker because it's a use-it-or-lose-it thing they've given it to us for a limited time and I want us to use it so that they let us keep it and the only way that they're gonna let us keep it is if we use it so make sure you were using it mmm that's pretty good not bitter enough not brute enough from my my bitter taste so yeh see 32-hundred dr why am I not familiar with that radio set you system fusion no there's no way it does no you cannot at this point no that is not a DMR system fusion radio all right well I'm somebody asked me earlier if I got their message I did not I only got on ka 4 bo eyes message on e PRS does brand Meister link DMR to fusion and D star that is a good way to put it yes with with the help of your hotspot yes so what happens is I will I'll set this radio this is my ft to dr I'll set this radio to a frequency in this case the UHF frequency that matches my my hotspot and I'll have it output to DMR and when I talk the hotspot will route that ysf you AC system fusion to a DMR I'm sorry AC system fusion to DMR kind of conversion master right Katy 6sr I go ahead trying to figure it out if I'm on the right top group here just one for the elixir collar you're live now go ahead with hot sauce II live thing on YouTube a couple Saturdays ago you know what it was on July fourth and realize you were just the other side of the hill there so just listening in learning a little about DMR and doctor hey thanks I thanks I appreciate that yeah no oh who streamed on forage oh it was k6 UDA yeah my buddy up there in NorCal yeah absolutely we got to talk to him a little while back having some fun yeah this I'm kind of dipping my toes in into DMR I've got a strong group of admins and supporters that that are all kind of making this work so big shout out to Zack and and Dom who are or kind of our supporters here helping things out so yeah the talk to the talk group is working great and it sounds you're coming in loud and clear so looks like it's working right back to you yes so the way I'm getting through this is there the proper system that's out here I think from one of their DMR channels DMR I don't know whatever you would call it but it's the area where you can actually dial in any type group if you want you know you don't like that so just learning that I'm on a BG d77 radio and other than the ribbon cable coming loose when I first bought it it's been very good to me I'm just trying to catch up on this I've been in a ham radio for like 20-some years and just made the switch to more about I'm up in a half ago cool very cool oh that sounds awesome yeah the GD 77 is kind of one of the recommended radios right now from from getting started with DMR so that's that's a good pick I want you to give your callsign again I'll make sure I note it and get in the log here and I'll end it with that so final to you ki 6 na z chemicals in here's kilo Delta six zero Romeo India and I'll talk to you later on for the visor thank you I guess this is my final final make sure if you haven't already go check out the the chat room on the livestream because they post links to the discord which we do after the livestream so then we can we can talk live kind of in a party group it's it's bit different than ham radio but it's a lot of fun so anyway good talking a seven threes take it easy alright so yeah that's that's it in a nutshell and Zack just posted the link to to the to the discord so my chat just jumped yeah so the 3200 dr I'm being told is yaesu system fusion that thing only was like a hundred dollars so I didn't even believe that it was the AC system fusion is it really wasn't this thing like $150 wait what am I wrong am I crazy am I crazy and wrong am i crazy and wrong um-hmm yes okay so everybody's saying it odr well what am I looking at oh this is the dr okay so with yes there it is okay feature system fusion well that's a good price on a radio how many how much does this thing go for 150 bucks at digit parts Giga parts I mean dude dude 150 bucks for this radio that's a pretty good deal that's a pretty good deal man yes so what you would do is you would use that radio to talk into your hot spot and your hot spot would route the yaesu system fusion into into the DMR Talk group now it doesn't use so I don't know anything about the 3200 but my f2 TDR has wires X and wires X you can't replicate that with a hot spot so yeah why not how much power is this thing put out it can't put out that much right how many wants is this 65 watts there you go go go go buy that thing in fact I think I'm gonna put that on my amazon store that's a solid Buy now you're um you're limited to two meters right this is two meter only did I read that yeah it's VHF doesn't matter though for a hundred thirty bucks that's nothing that's great yeah fan TV paid 130 years local sham shop yeah that's awesome RC FB 73 asked what are your thoughts on the red of SDM rh t so this guy this ft 82 that I'm supporting right here it's great the only downside and I've done everything I can to mitigate it is this trackball if you'd like to hear my opinion on this trackball go look go yeah go look at my video on this you don't want to use a radio with more than one watt if you're using it with a hot spot good tip so yeah copy I agree there ya know the the the 65 watts is for talking to repeaters you don't want to overload your hotspot cuz your hot spots got a little antenna you know let me let me go back to my this little guy is a little you're gonna blow him out and kill him if you hit him with 65 watts next door right on his dome don't do that don't hurt your hotspot friends in fact when I use this I've got this set to low power I've got everything set to low power when I talk on it okay well we hit the hour pretty much we've got a lot of people in the chat so I hope everybody takes the link and they come on over to discord and we can continue our conversation there let's see where do I wanna and if there's any questions I'll take them now final final on your final on anything gosh bow fangs so I hope everybody understands I get to this day so many messages on programming the bow Fang so many messages and every time I'm like I know this is not that hard you all can do this I know you can do this you just have to you just have to try it a bit and I found that it just it just takes a little bit a little bit of doing but you can you can make it work really really easily so you know I always recommend people people try it out and let me get my where is it waiting on this so questions I'm looking in the chat questions yeah of course Zack mentions again 65 watts would burn out the hot spot don't do that don't hurt your hot spot friends don't do that all right where are we now okay well again this thing's never sized right why is this never size right there we go there we go I want to thank my my channel basically my producers here my patrons that are at the level of channel producers Carey black well I have to say Carey Blackwell is possibly ham radio crash course like number one student no question she just got finished with the a double RL teachers kind of symposium and she went out there they worked satellites they built on the buoy she got to work on their hf station she was working ft 8 amazing and aside from that she works as a control operator for the emergency net that's in her area man Carrie is absolutely killing it in the amateur radio department and having fun doing it at least I can see that in her pictures and the things she posts so Carrie thank you so much for being a supporter Michael knees Wender terry hines Jason Brown Ken Nieman Anthony just Anthony Jase Raven field Jason kg2 I see a Jason Siebert Mike GATS Gareth broadhead Franklin luis danny miller Vaughn Dobbs Chris Ebert David dancer oh and Dennis dunder Dale now let's go back to Zach what was that again Zach go ahead oh gee I maybe my hot hot spots having a hard time I only got the very trail and possibly on something so maybe key up and hold it for a second and then go forward did you have a comment or something on discord go for it I'm waiting for the green light to turn on there it is I'm just calling the station before me was having difficulty eating it hmm good okay all right well um question I did have one can wires ex talk to Fusion wires ex is kind of like a menu-driven system of features that is an enhancement to the AC system fusion wires ex is on the I can't I don't know the 2 meter 70 centimeter mobile but it's on the FT 2 dr and it's a delightful system absolutely delightful that does not work with the hotspot Carling no problem no problem for answering your questions wires X is to select the fusion reflector easily yes HR reflex you nailed it plus there are messages you can send you can send pictures you can send all kinds of other stuff but they only pop up on certain certain radios they only work on certain readings wires X is fusion it is but there's kind of a nuance there but anyway cool all right so that will do it got a big thank you to n e to e XX for being a patron and I'll get his I'll get went too far I'll get his radio program and send out to him again everybody thank you so much for watching this if you want to help out hit subscribe that's that's one of the biggest things you can do the newsletter comes out this week hopefully given that I have enough time to put the final touches on it I was camping this weekend that's why it's like this whole thing super late sorry about that but yeah anyway had a lot of people attend listening having a good time please comment below if you have any questions check out the Facebook group please the hammer a crash course on Facebook and I'm heading over the discord right now so Fred Thompson I did receive a PRS messages I got one from k4 where is he ka for B oh I he was the only one I got from because remember my callsign is ki 6 and AZ - 7 I did not get one from wif Rd which I'm guessing is your callsign I did not yeah ok anyway guys I'm gonna head over to the discord and Rica senora's in the chat thanks for watching bud I haven't talked to you in a while ok I'm heading over to discord I'll be chatting there so let's all go there now but I'm probably gonna hit the restroom first and it'll be over there okay - yeah a couple minutes bye

What is the difference between a signature stamp and an electronic signature?

The ESIGN Act doesn't give a clear answer to what the difference between an e-stamp and an eSignature is, however, the most notable feature is that e-stamps are more popular among legal entities and corporations. There’s a circulating opinion that stamps are more reliable. Though, according to the ESIGN Act, the requirements for an electronic signature and an e-stamp are almost the same. In contrast to digital signatures, which are based on private and validated keys. The main issues with digital signatures is that they take more energy to create and can be considered more complicated to use.
