- Hi, everybody, today I am going to review the EXPRESS NEXT store credit card. This credit card is a great credit card if you love shopping at Express, and it also is great for building credit. I'm going to be explaining all the benefits and the drawbacks of this card, so you need to stay tuned. (thunder claps) (synthesizer music) (cymbals crashing) So to start out with this video, this is very important, if you are only watching this video because you want to learn more about the Express store card, I will talk about the benefits and the drawbacks, but it's important that you watch this whole video because I will be talking about the other aspect of this card, why people apply for it, and it's called the shopping cart trick, and I'm going to into why people apply for this card in this particular way. So the first benefit of having the Express store card is that you get 20% off your entire first purchase, and that is a nice discount to get. Now you have to keep in mind that the entire purchase needs to be made with using the EXPRESS NEXT store card. So with Express, they offer a rewards program, and you will earn 20 points for every dollar you spend at Express stores or online, and there are two levels to this program, the regular level and the A-List program. So with the first tier, you get a $10 reward coupon if you spend $125, but if you're an A-List member, you earn a $15 reward that you can use towards Express purchases. A very nice feature of the Express card is if you have A-List status with the rewards program, you get free standard shipping on all your purchases. This is probably something you were wondering. You can shop online, get all your items shipped to you, and the things that don't work out, you don't have to ship them back. You can visit a physical Express location and return anything that you don't like or that doesn't fit. If it doesn't fit, you can go into the store and find the correct size. So this easy exchange/return policy with Express credit card purchases makes this really easy for the customer. Another benefit to the Express Rewards Program is that it doesn't matter which tier you are on the rewards program, both tiers, you will get a birthday present every year on your birthday, and this will either be a physical item or a coupon. Plus, having the Express store card itself, you're going to be part of special deals and promotions for people that are cardholders that other shoppers do not get. I'm sure you're not surprised by this, but it still is a benefit. The EXPRESS NEXT store credit card does not have an annual fee. Okay, so you see I'm talking about the Express store credit card and I talk about other credit cards, major credit cards and store credit cards. The Express card is a store card, so you can only use it with Express, either online or you have to visit a store. Another drawback of the EXPRESS NEXT credit card is that the credit limits tend to be low. Your credit limit will be somewhere around 300 to $700 to start. Of course, with on-time payment history, you can get your credit limit increased, but if you're opening an account for the first time, don't be surprised if you get a lower credit line than you expected. So a major negative with the Express store card is that the interest is very high. When you make purchases on this card, you definitely want to make sure that you pay your balance in full. This has one of the highest interest rates for a store card, so as long as you pay your balances in full each month, you won't have to worry about it. Here's another thing you need to look out for, and this is a major thing, and this is very common with many different rewards card, whether it's a major credit card or store card. These rewards you earn with your Express card, they will expire, so always be mindful of the expiration dates so you don't lose any of your rewards. So earlier in this video, I said there was a unique, better way to apply for the EXPRESS NEXT store credit card, rather than just simply going onto the website and going to the application page. What you want to do is apply for this credit card offer using the shopping cart trick. The benefit of this is that you will have an easier time of getting approved and you will not see a hard credit inquiry on your report. If you do it correctly with the shopping cart trick, you will be only asked for the last four digits of your social security number.
