Save single number
hello everybody this is money mom welcome back to the channel today i'm going to talk to you about frugal kitchen hacks that save me time and money let's get started the first one is one that i've not seen on other channels but i really think it could save a lot of us a lot of time and money is asking yourself this one question if you waste any food what are the foods you typically waste and why and for me it would used to be bad produce or buying too much produce i no longer do that so i rarely waste any type of produce at all someone asked the other day hey one of your oranges went bad what did you do well guess what i use it to deodorize my garbage disposal but i'm very very cautious of how much produce the other thing that i have been wasting money on in the past was i would want to fix a complicated recipe or something that has many steps i don't want to deal with something that's complicated and what would end up happening is i'd buy that ingredient for that one recipe and not end up using it so if you ask yourself what are things that i typically waste or what are things that i buy that the family doesn't always eat or they go through spurts asking yourself that and buying less of that can really save on the budget and food waste number two and i know many of you love to chop your own onions and peppers i have to be honest i don't like chopping onions i've tried all different ways to do it but guess what they still burn my eyes and i don't like it i get this for one dollar at kroger it's basically chopped up onion i keep it in the freezer and it lasts several recipes i actually think i'm saving money by buying this and i don't deal with my eyes tearing up so yes i'm not doing it myself and maybe i save money buying my own onions and doing it myself but this makes me happy so i'm going to continue to do it number three batch cooking and a lot of times what i'll do is i'll get up a little bit earlier than some of the other family members and i might even batch cook some things in the morning so i get up and i might make three things that way we've got things to eat on all week i might make a casserole and a couple other things and then that evening we'll have food rather than me waiting till five o'clock and fixing dinner so a lot of times i'll do some of my cooking in the morning and i'll make enough for several days that really can save on time and i feel money because then guess what you're not fixing something last minute or and we don't generally do this or running out to get food number four versatile meal plan you guys know i have my meal plan over there and what i've been doing is on the left side i've been writing things out that i really want to make that week and so i have been doing that that can also save on time and money because i'm really getting the things for example i had a whole bunch of pancake mix that was given to me well i know that stuff can go bad after a while so last week i set it where i would see it and i made pancakes so that would be an example of that so really working through and seeing what i have number five and i've already done this and i love watermelon i only had a small portion but i'm cutting up all my produce as soon as i get it home and i'm buying less produce that way we are not you know wasting it love watermelon tell me if you like watermelon and so chopping it up ahead so it's easy to get to and easy to eat that one's been told on several youtube channels then also the next one the freezer is your friend there's many items that we can freeze it's always good to find out what doesn't freeze well but if you can freeze it and portion control things like you make a casserole it's really great if you can batch cook and maybe make two casseroles and freeze one or i have a friend of mine who is single and she recently did a bunch of batch cooking and she put all these items and labeled them into single serving containers put them in the freezer with dates on them and that way she has food that's readily able to eat because she noticed she was going through the drive-through a lot so that's another way to save which brings me to this i get these labels at the dollar tree and what i do is i'll label items and with the date and what the item is so that way we know what is in the item and with that also and i should have had this out is i may have a container such as a cool whip container of this whipped topping container and what i might do is put cookie dough and then label it with the date that way i know when it's in there and it's not mystery food so that's another way the last but not least is cleaning out my refrigerator freezer and pantry at least once a week i am very aware of what is in my refrigerator freezer and pantry and i organize those and my daughter helps me once a week that way i see if there's things that are going on a date so i'm really aware the good news is i still do waste some food sometimes which isn't good news but the good news is as i become more frugal i'm getting better and better at not wasting food so that's really positive before signing off i haven't been doing very many shout outs recently but i really want to do this shout out and i just learned about this channel i'll be honest i'm shocked that she does not have a lot more subscribers her name is rihanna and her channel is called a frugal life and then dash the channel i'm gonna label her or put it below i have watched a lot of great great videos one she recently did on how to save money on me some of the ideas were things i haven't heard i'm learning things that i have not heard from other youtubers before she has a lot of great information on how to stockpile what foods to have for emergencies a lot of really good information i think you'd enjoy her if you decide to check out her channel let her know that money mom sent you that's all for now let me know some of your favorite frugal kitchen hacks i always want to hear from you that's this is money mom signing off and as always i love you bye
