okay having unloaded by assignments in PDF format the next stage then is to edit them and we're going to use this little package called pdf-xchange viewer and if i click on this first assignment it will open up now I'll just give you a second to have a look at the screen here at the top because the crucial one for us is this editing or markup toolbar if you find when you open the package that that bar is not there and it's simply because it's hidden and if one goes to view toolbars you can see you can switch it on and off here so when you open a system first it may look like this so it's a question of going to view toolbars and switching on the comment and markup toolbar so by default you see this little hand is selected so I can scroll through the assignment reading merrily away there and the first thing that I would do with this one it's then I would want to put some sort of a comment on there asking the student for double spacing so that I can read it and mark it bit more easily so here's my obvious tool here typewriter so I select that and I simply type on it double they saying you'll see that it's used this rather interesting red font which is quite handy because it's totally different from the students own fountain so it's obviously a comment for me and you'll notice here that the options are to change that fault and make that default so whatever it is that you fancy choose from this extensive list of fonts here a different color then one simply says make that the default all our handy tools that one might want to use of course the highlighter the underline or cross through all most useful little arrows what have you that one can plunk on there one can reposition that if it's not quite in the right place I just select it first in drag and drop it a very intuitive little package as you can see here's an only handy one little car light if one wants to refer to a specific word in the text click there even though he has smelted correctly I will put a dummy comment or spelling or for a more substantive comment I might want a text box I select the tool here I can draw a box here and so on very simple very intuitive and one gets used to it incredibly quickly so having worked through the students assignment merrily typing my comments as I go I might want at the very end if the students a hadn't left enough for space for me to write a substantive comment select this little sticky note tool here are some substantive comments from me on your assignment my friend external examiner's always saying using the full marking range nice and simple and that I can save that it will give me an error message here I know when I tried to save it because of this this is a read-only version but I can say that as assignment and that's that in the next video I'll show you how to upload this marked assignment back into blackboard so the student can get it back
