hey sleeper dude here in this video i'm going to show you how i cut the outside skin off of a door replace it with another skin new one and not even have to do any body work to it at all so this is what i've learned over the course of 20 years doing bodywork hopefully you learned something from it here we go first thing you got to do is take the door off the car put it on a stand take everything off like your trim panel your weather strips and everything and then we're going to grind the edge off this door with a grinder just like this right here you could use a couple different types of grinders but that's what i prefer and we're going to grind it until we can see the layers separate in here and that's the way you know you're all the way through it [Applause] [Music] now you're one gonna want to take something like a these are called like a panel splitter some sort of chisel and get in between the layers and peel this outer lip off which is the old lip off the old door skin all the way around the door [Music] next you're going to want to take some sort of big scraper as thick like this and peel the seam sealer off that the factory hat on it [Music] [Music] now you want to get your panel splitter between the door frame and the outside skin [Music] this door skin happens to have a couple spot loads of the corners grind through them [Music] until you see that blue ring around it that's when you know you're done now that we got it flipped over we can peel this skin off here [Music] [Music] so here's what it looks like with the skin off there so we've got a brand new skin we're going to put on this first we're going to clean up this edge here a lot of times you'll have surface rust in here so we're gonna clean that off and then put the new skin on that's what i used to do this [Music] so here's what it should look like when you get done and what i used to put around the edge here is this we could just call it panel bond but here's the part number for you it's made by norton and 3m also makes a product like it and then what i use to go right here on these beams it doesn't need to be quite as hard it needs to be more flexible i always use this right here and so we're going to put that on our beams put the panel bond around the edges and hammer this door skin on here i always spread this stuff out to where it covers all the bare metal because i don't have any rust and this is what keeps the door skin from making...
