Send assorted gender

hi I'm Ashton and today I wanted to expose you to my gender horde I use a lot of different words to describe my gender and my relation to my gender and today I wanted to share all of those words with you you may or may not know how big of a fan of Lists I am I really like lists I keep a lot of lists one of these lists is Ashton's gender board so today I'm going to be going through my gender board and telling you about every label that I use to describe myself but before we do that I want to do a couple quick disclaimer etype things first off I am a trans and non-binary person and I like talking about my gender I like using a lot of different labels for it I like talking about those labels I like sharing those labels with others um some people don't there may be trans and non-binary people in your life they don't like talking about their gender or just don't have a lot of labels for their gender don't pressure them to give you those labels because some people are like me and like a lot of labels some people don't use labels at all other people are in the middle so don't like take this video as an excuse to go ask your non-binary friends about every possible word that they use for themselves because it can be kind of exhausting and I'm doing this voluntarily if they voluntarily want to talk about their genders then yeah let them do it however don't pressure them into doing it just because I am doing it and then the same sentiment goes towards all of you as individuals if you like describing your gender with dozens upon dozens of words yeah go you if you like to use one word or no words then that's also incredibly valid and incredibly cool and I'm really proud of you for figuring that out about yourself that said these are my words and if you're going to make fun of me for using any of them then that's on you I don't care I'm keep using these words because they make me happy and they make me feel more connected to my gender these words are not for you to easily understand me these words are to allow me to express myself I do not use these words for you I use these words for myself and I'm sharing them voluntarily just because I found a lot of words that help me describe my gender doesn't mean that you have to it to be a valid trans person or a valid non-binary person don't take this as a prescriptive as to everything that you have to do to figure it yourself just take it as me expressing myself and not pushing anything onto you I think that's about all I have to explain um if you're here to tell me that there is only two genders then like you're not gonna convince me of anything you're not gonna change my mind I don't know what you want to bring into this situation but I'm not going to listen to you so if you want to waste your time typing up comment thanks for giving me some engagement but if you're too scared to tell me there's only two genders I'm not gonna listen to you I do not care about your opinion it's my gender not yours and you can leave me alone um all of that being said I'm just gonna tell you about every word I use for my gender I'm gonna start with two big umbrella terms transgender and non-binary so I use transgender because I do not identify with the sex that I designed it Earth that's pretty self-explanatory I think but some people see the word transgender as like transitioning from one binary to the other or from one box to the other I don't think and a lot of people don't think it has to be used that way the way that I define it is a lot more general and I believe that it covers anybody that considers themselves transgender I think that anybody is transgender if they simply do not identify with the sex that they were assigned at birth I I think it's a pretty simple definition but it's one that works and that is how I define it for myself no binary is another big umbrella it covers anybody that doesn't fit into the binary boxes of a man or a woman male or female boy or girl any sort of label that you want to use for those two you know Western gender binary boxes anybody that doesn't fit into either of those perfectly can consider themselves non-binary so that's me hello I think with those two definitions given it's pretty self-explanatory why you can be non-binary and transgender at the same time I don't think there's a conflict between those things some people do that's their own prerogative however I will say it once again it's my gender not yours and I get to choose the words also on the topic of big umbrellas I do use genderqueer sometimes genderqueer as a term that essentially means the same thing as non-binary it's just a bit older of a term and some people don't like it as much because it does have the word queer in it however I do consider myself queer every claim that stood for myself all the time and I do believe that it is related to my sexuality as well as my gender so the word genderqueer makes sense for me personally and I do like occasionally I don't use it as much as non-binary because non-binary is much more widespread these days I sound like an old man regardless I do use genderqueer as well as non-binary they both mean the same thing for me personally they don't mean the same thing for everybody don't assume other people's gender is based on how I'm is guarding mine however I use both those terms before myself the next two I'm also going to explain in a pair I also consider myself a dummy boy and dummy a gender I use deme boy more often because people understand the concept of boy a lot easier than they understand the concept of a gender however I do consider myself both if you're unfamiliar with either of the terms it's pretty easily broken down by prefix and suffix so the prefix dummy means partly not necessarily half not necessarily more than half not it's not like I'm out here like dividing my gender into a pie chart although I could do that my gender feels a lot more nebulous than that so I'm not gonna you know give a physical representation so there were dummy boy for me means that I am partly a boy I do consider myself mostly a boy like that is a bigger part of my gender than the a gender part which is kind of the other part the part that is not covered by dummy boy is kind of covered by a gender although I do feel that they overlap in some ways but for me um boy and a gender our both parts is my gender but they're only a part of my entire gender does that make sense so the prefix dummy allows me to express myself as a boy and as a gender without ascribing my entire identity to either of those terms outside of the dummy prefix I do call myself a boy or a man because I'm more attached to that masculine side of my gender than the gender list a gender part but that is so a part of my gender I just generally used dummy a gender instead of a gender but sometimes I will use boy instead of dummy boy although when I call myself a boy it does come with the caveat that that's not my entire gender it's very difficult for me to describe my gender in one singular word which is why I very rarely do I also describe myself as a trans man because I was assigned female at birth and I consider myself a boy or dummy boy dummy a gender dummy gender in general a lot of the times people associate the free of transman with binary trans men I'm not a binary trans man but a lot of my experiences do align with binary trans men because I was a female at birth I've had taught surgery but not just Ostrom through three years I found getting a hysterectomy like a lot of my physical and social transitioning experiences have aligned with the you know trans male experience so I used that phrase a lot of the times to explain my gender to people that I don't want to go in depth to I also like to combine non-binary and trans men because non-binary trans man sums it all up pretty neatly even if it you know doesn't describe every depth of my gender it gets it all in there pretty collectively so I've been through non-binary transgender trans man dummy boy dummy a gender I also will occasionally use the word by gender I don't use that one out loud a lot because it is one of the like lesser-known words I guess when it comes to gender but I feel like that encapsulates my gender pretty well being like boy and non-binary or a gender or genderqueer like boy is always one of the of the two when it comes to being a by gender person but the other one that's in there somewhere is always the you know mine or genderqueer or a gender or you know one of the words that I use to describe the aspect of my gender that is not boy so by gender is a word that I will use relatively infrequently but when I'm talking to other people that also are like big fans of gender labels then it's one that I am pretty comfortable with women that I use quite a bit especially online is trans masculine or trans mask I feel like trans mask is a easy succinct way to get across people that I am you know FTM or a trans man but it doesn't carry that same binary implication it just carries the idea that I am a masculine person a masculine identified person somebody that is you know a boy or man but maybe not entirely and it also throws in the trans prefix a bit which I like I have a lot of trans pride and we're trans masculine kind of combines the trans aspect of me and the non-binary aspect of me by not necessarily implying as binary of a gender with like trans man you know so I like trans masculine for that reason it's also a pretty broad term that a lot of people use and some people don't like it because it does imply the gender that you were assigned at Birth I'm not always the biggest fan of that but I do feel that it's a really good way to describe my gender and especially when I'm around other trans people that you know get it I'm more than happy to use trans masculine the next word that I use is a little bit silly but twink is twink a gender no do I feel like it describes my gender yes twink is you know a gendered word it generally used to describe gay men of a certain body type disposition act you know whatever but I am someone who is definitely a twink when it comes to being a gay man and it's something that I identify with and feels good gender wise to me so is it a traditional word for gender like non-binary or trans might be no is it a word that I associate heavily with my gender and feely euphoria surrounding yes so I'm adding it to my gender list and you can't stop me I also will occasionally use transgender to describe myself I only use that when I'm talking to other trans folks and other non-binary folks transgender isn't necessarily something that I want says people to call me but when it comes to other trans folks especially people that are more gender non-conforming or you know are into trend or court we all know I love myself a little bit of gender core um I really like calling myself a transgender I think it's fun I know it was coined as a bullying term I'm reclaiming it people that use transgender to insult people yes I'm trans yes I'm trendy fight me I talked about Jenna queer okay one more this video didn't end up being too long I could read about gender forever but um you know putting every word I used into one place and making a succinct to list out of them feels pretty good the last one is two words that don't necessarily describe my gender but more my attitude towards my gender gender Punk and gender some you're gonna laugh at that I don't care I really like both of them gender Punk and gender kind of refer to the same thing for me but it's more of like the way that I see my own gender and gender as a structure as a whole as opposed to my gender itself I feel like I could probably write a whole video essay on gender Punk and what that means and why I love it so much and maybe I will someday you can probably look at being figure that I'm a relatively alternative person and my Punk oh my god currently the answer is yes but a lot of punk outside of the music is the politics and is the general attitude and questioning of society and larger structures as a whole like punk is not just the music music is obviously probably the biggest part of it but politics and punk really go hand in hand and that's something that is very important and when it comes to gender and deconstructing away that gender exists anarchic queer politics and punk culture really do a little bit of intersecting and I love that I adore that gender punk is a word that kind of combines the two and for me that's really powerful I really like the ideas behind gender punk and yeah gender is kind of another way of phrasing though that isn't so intertwined with the punk community but does a little bit of like you know using the same philosophies and using the same ideas without tying itself to a community that you may not be a part of but gender Punk and gender kind of the same idea I put them like on the same spot on my list gender / gender Punk for that reason because they kind of refer to the same idea but they're just two different words for it I like both words I probably use gender Punk more because I am an alternative person I'm a kind of a punk person and the politics of that subculture and the way that I view gender really aligned to me and I really like that so wow that's it that's all my genders you have them all now they're all free to use I haven't copyrighted any of them if you also like those words for your gender you feel free to use them my gift to you today is all of those words yes so I think that's it gender is great I personally really like gender I like having a gender I like having a by gender if you will I like using a bunch of different words for my gender because it makes me feel like me it makes me easier for me to express myself especially to other non-binary people that also use a lot of words bond thing about gender is really fun to do I think and even if you have non-binary friends that don't use them anywhere you do I guarantee you a lot of them will probably be down to hear about your gender words because that's always a good time that's all I have for you today sorry this was a bit of a shorter video it's still not short this is still a long video but for me listen for me this is kind of short thanks for listening to me rant about gender if you want to and if you're comfortable doing it I would love for you to create a similar gender list in the comments if your sis you know don't do it but non-binary people and trans people if you want to tell me about all the words you use for your gender I would love to read that maybe we share similar that's maybe we don't either way that'd be pretty rad so yeah let me know about your genders I'd love to hear it oh also plural people if you use a bunch of different words for your genders please hell yeah let me know anyways to tell me about your genders especially the words that use for them because a lot of people use words in different ways I think it's really interesting and I'm really glad that we can all like explore words together and use language and ways and make us feel empowered I think it's really cool I think it's very Punk that's all I'm ranting good bye comrades I hope that you're super comfortable with all of the different words or lack thereof that you use for your gender and I will talk to you later maybe you
