Today's YouTube video, I am going to walk you through step by step what is required when you are labelling your Amazon FBA products. This video also helps if you are selling products on Shopify or basically anywhere on the internet. I am using the United States as an example today and I Googled "US labelling requirements by law". If you are selling in the UK, or Australia, or in Asia, it doesn't matter which Amazon marketplace you are selling, you should be Googling this and looking up what exactly is required for your products to enter that country's customs. In order for your products to enter the US customs, we must be labelling our products properly. And if you do a Google search, you are going to see a lot of articles right here. Let's go through a few of them. Right here, I have some information from CE Intelligence and this is telling us everything that needs to be labelled on each individual unit that you are shipping to the Amazon warehouse, basically each individual unit that is entering the US customs. Now, a lot of the times, US customs will not open your parcels. I have never had US customs open any of my parcels and I have shipped hundreds of times across the border. However, if they end up opening your products, you have to make sure that this information is clearly labelled on every single unit. It says, "without proper labelling your product would not be allowed to enter the US. Some important details to include on your label include name of food or product, country of origin for the product, ingredients, nutritional information. It must be in English. Any food allergens and any chemicals or food additives used. For example, if you are selling a hair brush, the name of your product might be Easy Breezy Hair Brush. The country will be Made in China, if you are sourcing from Alibaba. The ingredients, if you are selling a food product. Nutritional information, if you are selling a food product. And basically, everything and anything that you can think of, needs to be labelled on each individual unit. I know a lot of new sellers overlook this and you may have gotten away with shipping your products across US customs, but this is the proper way to do it. Make sure all of this information is on each unit and later on in this tutorial, I am going to show you some examples of how you should be labelling your products. I also want to touch on the consumer product safety commission if you are selling children's products. Selling children's products have been very popular and a lot of sellers are missing a big piece of information. If you look at United States Consumer Product Safety Commission, if you Google "US CPSC", you are going to land on this website right here. Basically, if you are selling a children's product, you have to be labelling your products a little differently. Right here it says the requirements, name of the manufacturer or private labeller. This is your name. This should be your business name that you need to include on every single unit. Location and date of manufacture, it's going to say for example, April 2020 if your supplier is making your product this month. Cohort information, such as a batch number or run number. For us, we sell a lot of children's products and every single time we get a new batch of inventory produced by our manufacturer, we have a new batch number. You want to update that batch number on your product. For example, if this is your very first batch of children's toys that you are selling on Amazon, maybe it's a baby walker or a baby seat or a crib or whatever it is, it's going to say batch number 1. And then the next time you restock your inventory, it's going to say batch number 2. And then the third time, batch number 3, etcera. And the reason why you want to do this and label the batch or run number is because if something happens to someone's child, they can always trace back to whichever batch it was that caused this problem. You should also have the manufacturer contact information. So manufacturer is you. When you are selling on Amazon, you are the manufacturer, you are the supplier. And this will include your company's contact information. Example, if my company name is called ABC Toys, it's going to say ABC Toys and also how to contact me and where I am from. It might say Vancouver, BC, Canada. And then include my company, email address, or my company address. Right here it says US address and telephone number, toll free if available. If you are American, then you want to include your US address and telephone number. Now, you do not have to include a telephone number. For ourselves, we just include an email address or a website and that is good enough. You just want to include some sort of contact information. So in case anything happens, they can trace back to you. And you want to include the model name and number as well. This is something that you make up to organize your inventory levels. You don't have to do this. I actually don't put a model number. I do put a model name though. For example, if I am selling a baby walker, it may be called Baby Walker number 1 or Baby Walker number 2. You just want to include it on your product packaging. For everyone who is selling a children's product, make sure you read this website and read everything that is contained here as well. If you want to get additional information, you can actually contact them and ask for more. Another thing I want to bring up is the Children's Product Certificate. If you are selling a children's product, you may be required to submit a CPC when you are selling on Amazon. A CPC is a Children's Product Certificate that you make up yourself. And right here, it's telling you elements required in a CPC. You have to include all of these points that they tell you right here. And it has to be approved by Amazon themselves. Right here, it goes very in depth about what you need to include on your Children's Product Certificate. And here's a sample of how it may look like. Just to be clear, a CPC is not what you what you ask for from your supplier on Alibaba. Your supplier on Alibaba can provide you with a test document that they got from the lab. But it is up to you to produce a Children's Product Certificate. Because right here, it's asking for your contact information for the individual maintaining records of test results. This is you. If your supplier gives you the test results, you now have a copy of the test results and you have to provide your name, full mailing address, email address, and etcera. This all has to be about your business or about you if you are operating under as an individual. I hope that makes sense. A lot of people get confused by this. And like I said, all you have to do is follow this example. Give Amazon the CPC and they should be able to approve your product. If they do reject your CPC, make sure that you are providing everything that is listed here. It's so important that you list everything clearly so they know exactly that your product is safe and allowed to be sold on Amazon. Like I said, not every single product on Amazon that is a children's product needs a CPC. If you are confused, you can also email Amazon themselves with your competitors' listing and just ask them, "hey, I want to sell this baby walker, can you tell me what is required?" And a representative will email you back all the requirements. If they do need a CPC, then just make sure you get the lab results either from your supplier on Alibaba or whichever supplier you are using, or if you are anyone like me, I actually did some testing myself. Meaning I shipped a sample from my supplier on Alibaba to a CPSC accepted laboratory. There's a list of labs that you can ship your product to and they can do the testing for you. Testing can cost anywhere in the hundreds or thousands of dollars. Make sure you contact an accepted laboratory and ask them how much will it cost for your specific children's product. You should also include any warning or choking hazards. If you walk into a store and you buy a toy, it might say that that toy is for only children over the age 3 or maybe that toy is only for children who are over 5 years old. There's all sorts of ages that the toy is suitable for and sometimes it might include a warning sign telling you, "warning, there could be a choking hazard if there were small parts in the toy". Make sure you include that in your product as well. Next up, we have food labelling guide. Make sure you check out the FDA administration as well and download the final guidance document. This is going to be different if you are selling a food product because food products have ingredients and other things on the label as well. The biggest tip I could give you is if you plan to sell any type of food product, make sure you buy a food product from the grocery store and then get an idea of what to put on your label. I would suggest that for your children's product as well. If you are selling a baby rattle or something, make sure you buy a baby rattle from the store and get an example of how sellers actually label their toys. This will give you a really good idea on how to label your food product and how to label your toy products and also any type of product that you are planning to sell on Amazon. This is a summary of cosmetics labelling requirements. If you are selling cosmetics, you can check out this website as well and it's going to tell you what laws and regulations you should follow and how to label your cosmetics. I know a lot of people are not selling cosmetics but I am just saying, you should always check out how to properly label your products in case you are selling cosmetics or food or toys or whatever it is that you are selling. Make sure you do your homework. Now here is an example, I pulled up a toothbrush to show you an example of how this toothbrush by Colgate actually labels their product. Right here, they are following everything that is laid out right here. The labelling requirements by the USA. Now, if you look at this in detail, we have our brand name which is Colgate. We have Total Advanced Whitening, that is the name of their product. We have a tracking label here, right, that P9904 number is the tracking number. We have what the product is, it's a toothbrush. It's just telling us what this product does for you. And on the back of this product, it has more information. We have, again, the brand name and the name of the product. We have some quick and easy instructions. I am not sure if this is the tracking number, 6020. But you get the idea. You want to have a tracking number if you can or a batch number if you can. And like I said earlier, I only include batch numbers for my children's products. For every single different type of product, I actually do not have a batch number. Right here, you can find the contact information. Remember, we have to include the contact information of our business. It's distributed by Colgate in New York and it includes the postal code along with a phone number and a website. I only include the website. I do not include a phone number because for me, I do not have a 1-800 number. Whatever works for you, you should always include some sort of contact information and that would be enough. And right here, if you were selling on Amazon, of course you will include your FNSKU barcode. Here's another example of a children's product. This is Playdoh. And on Playdoh, this is an OPP bag. Some of you guys are selling your products in OPP bags which is totally cool and totally fine. If it makes sense that your product belongs in an OPP bag, you can do that. And right here, they labelled their products properly as well. Right here, they have age 2+. This Playdoh is only for kids that are over 2 years old and it's telling us how much it weighs. It has the brand right here which is Hasbro. And if I am looking at this correctly, E2548, that could be a tracking code that Playdoh is tracking for their inventory. On the back of this OPP bag, we have more information. They have a warning. They have it in different languages. And more about the product, they have recycling here as well. If you do have an OPP bag, you can include this recycling symbol. There's a website. There's a barcode. For you, you will include your website, your FNSKU barcode, and you can also include your social media handles. I know a lot of people say this is against terms of service but all of the big brands do it. Playdoh does it. A lot of other companies do it as well. They might have an Instagram and Facebook handle and that is completely fine. It's only against terms of service if you are intentionally pulling the customer off of Amazon. If Playdoh had something that said, "please visit our Facebook to get 10% off." Then I think that is against terms of service. But as you can see right here, they are not saying that at all. They just have a Facebook label. In fact, I think they should have included Playdoh with their Facebook handle right here but they put parents instead. That's kind of weird. But anyway, you get the idea. And right here, it's just telling us it's from Hasbro Canada. For you, it's going to say your business name, Canada or United States, wherever you are from. And right here it has a phone number and the address as well. And of course, Made in China. It's very important that you do follow the US customs requirements because if US customs decide to look into your products and they see that your products are incorrectly labelled, they may just send your products back to your supplier in China. And you do not want that to happen because they are going to penalize you or charge you for that shipping back to China. And then you would have to get your supplier to fix all the labelling and that's going to cost money and it's not going to look very pretty. Again, make sure you check out all of these websites and spend some time reading through everything thoroughly. The most important parts are just to include everything right here and you should be good to go. If you do have any questions, make sure you drop me a question or a comment in the comment section below. Give this video a huge thumbs up. And of course, I'll be seeing you guys in my next video.
