two paintings there hang on a second let me just adjust this a little bit so we're gonna be talking about yes this question was submitted some weeks ago by by grace and so uh grace H and here was her question and then let's talk about this I'm gonna ask for some interaction from you real quick that's gonna check in we got Oh Missy from Japan man that is awesome whatwhat time is it in Japan right ago loved it and I wouldn't love to go back and spend more time in Portland which I know is the city has gotten a lot of attention in recent years so that's fab that's fabulous so keep them coming there I will check back in periodically with the comments but here's the question that grace sent me some weeks ago because I have been doing morning affirmations for a while now and my question is how can I say them for someone else in her case it was for her son and she just gave me an example of like Alex is worthy to receive as opposed to I am worthy to receive so so that's a good question we're again we're all familiar with saying affirmations for ourselves to improve our own state of mind and to sort of rewire our brain to think in the ways that we and to think and feel and be in the ways that we prefer so can you say them for other people so my answer here is it's a little tricky when you try to affirm someone else's their behavior or their personal feelings like the example that she uses is alex is worthy to receive some other examples that i've thought of like you know Alex makes good decisions Alex is confident and secure and so do those affirmations work and I guess my best answer to that is maybe maybe they do but let me give you a couple of other examples so so grace obviously was was referring specifically to her son I'm gonna come back to that but I have I can concede this question cropping up for a lot of people here's a like an example that you might do for your career you might use an example my boss at work realizes how valuable I am and gives me a promotion and arrays there's an affirmation about your boss related to your career I've also seen this this was kind of romance a relationship example where somebody might say Alexandria sees how wonderful I am and falls in love with me you know so you affirm that the person the the the apple of your eye or the your ideal person sees the value in you and and once you as a partner as much as you want them will these work again as I mentioned earlier maybe I guess you can affirm that and maybe send out a vibration and think and want for them but what I it gets tricky again when you're affirming or trying to influence the feelings of someone else or the behavior of someone else so let me take a drink here I can feel my morning my morning the throat here is kicking into gear and so I think you're better off saying affirmations that focus on your feelings that focus on your behavior as it relates to that person so really my best advice the way that I think affirmations work best is when it's focused on things that you can control and again normally the affirmations that you can control or said about yourself and how you show up and your sense of being and all that which definitely has an effect on other people but if there's something that there's something related to someone else someone else's behaviors or someone else's decisions instead of making affirming what they're gonna do or how they're gonna feel make it about what you do and what you feel as as that you as it relates to that person so I got some examples here so for instance grace instead of saying you know Alex is worthy to receive or feels worthy to receive she might say something like this I see Alex living to his full potential here's a good one I look for the good qualities that Alex displays on a regular basis so especially if someone's behavior I'm assuming that if grace is having wanting to do affirmations for her son is probably not because he's doing everything perfectly correct in her eyes she probably thinks he's off course in some way and so she's wanting to him to make an adjustment to maybe be happier to be bored and we all the parents always want the best for their kids and every want them to be sad or or to have struggles and so she probably that's probably what's happening with her but you can prevent from a parent's perspective we're always looking you know again I have one one child like a daughter she's gonna be turning 24 next month and so I know as a parent yeah we always are concerned about how long I don't want to make sure that they're happy and they're not there they're never you know struggling although we you do know that struggle is part of life and and we have a lot of lessons to learn from that and so so we sometimes look for the struggle look for the things that are not wrong which leads to you wanting to do something to help them so how about something that you can't influence is that is looking for the good I really love that you just can be applied in so many ways with affirmations but I look for the good qualities that Alex displays on a regular basis I am aware of and notice more of the positive things about my son or my daughter or whoever the person is and you train your mind to look for those so you're not only pointing out what's what's wrong here's another good affirmation about another another person I'm just using this Alex son references because because of what grace had sent me but it can be applied to anyone but how about this I know and trust that Alex is finding his way on his own unique half again this is an affirmation about someone else but it totally focuses on your sense your perspective I guess your perception of it and it sort of reminds you to look for the good to trust that he's on his own path and that he's gonna find his way I'm sure if you look back into your own life you know that you weren't from he didn't come out of the womb knowing exactly you haven't had a straight and narrow life and career path and we all get sidetracked we all have to find our way and we eventually do and we find it and we lose it we find it and we lose it and even I hate to use the term we lose it because even when we seem to be off track or we're dissatisfied with something that's happening in our in our lives there's a lesson learned there that allows us to live a more fulfilling life on the other side of that that getting sidetracked thing just I know and trust that fill in the blank with their name is finding his or her way and on his or her own unique half so I got some other examples here that I'm gonna discuss here but before I go on any further I'm going to check in on the comments here but it was gonna ask you what are your suggestions for doing affirmations for other people have you ever done them and based on what I've said so far do you agree with that I do have another spin on it so just leave a comment again whether you're watching live or whether you're watching the replay later it's never too late to leave a comment and share your wisdom with other people but how do you handle this unique situation of doing affirmations that involve another person we don't want to infringe on other people's desires even if you know what their desires are you can't yeah I mean you can send out a vibration and hoping but but it's like how do you perceive that how can you you show up and your sense of being maybe can influence them more than trying to wilt you know force your will on them Whitney says love and light from Virginia Beach uh yeah briella's thank you for your existing it she says Tara thank you thank you for you existing - it's like sherry is tuning in from Maine awesome so Don I think yeah Don Castro I do agree with that I've used positive affirmations many times for others in my life but family members are people I care about outside the family and what you say is true I do believe that it works cool cool so keep your comments coming yeah continue to let me know if you're just tuning in where you're watching from and then what your suggestions are about doing affirmations for other people so I'm a couple gonna hit this from a couple different angles I'm going to make this one a little bit shorter than I've done in recent live broad broadcasts but so let's talk about when it with every topic that comes up or a bit of advice that I give there's always like there's kind of like everyday normal type of situations that you might be a forming and then there's things that are on the extremes so I would say if your son your daughter your friend whoever someone is important in your life is actually exhibiting something that's it's a harmful behavior where they could harm themselves or harm others obviously some more interaction or intervention or whatever isn't is needed certainly again those are extreme situations I wouldn't come running in to rescue people just for everyday things but if there's only has a drug addiction or you know breaking the law and and and down a a path that may involve you and other people stepping in to help them then the affirmation that you could do in that case would be something along the lines of please give me the strength and the insight to know when to step in and know what to do you can affirm I know that help is available here and I'm gonna you know I'm keeping my radar up to find the people and the resources and the organizations that can help me help this person so I but I love that one give me the strength and the insight to know when to step in and know what you know what to do in that time with that time time comes again these are more extreme examples you know yeah this is somebody so but you can't come in and rescue for everyone for everything sometimes they have to figure it out on their own but in these more extreme cases you're used to you stepping up would be appropriate and so just affirming that you're gonna have the confidence the strength the insight the wisdom to know when and how to do that it's probably the best affirmation in that case so I'm gonna go back to I gave you some career in romance examples that were probably not so effective and you said your boss is gonna give me he's gonna like me and give me a raise or this person is gonna fall in love with me here are some better affirmations for those scenarios and then you could apply these to whatever your particular situation is so in the career example I used earlier again the focus is what doing affirmations that involve your feelings your sense of being and your behavior so the career one a better one in my would be I excel at my job I do good work and M a benefit to my managers fellow employees and the company so you see that's all about you and how you show up and if you stay focused on that doing a good job being easy to work with that's that's another thing are you abrasive or do people enjoy working with you and if you're aware that maybe you're not always the most compatible person you can affirm that I'm a friendly I listen to people you know so hopefully you know yourself well enough to know how you're being perceived by others at least in the workplace that that could affect your promotions can affect you getting raises but I excel at my job I'm easy to work with I do good work I'm a benefit to my managers to fellow employees in the company you could say similar affirmations if you're self-employed or if you work with a non-profit or just involved in a community project - with your neighbors whatever you can apply this to all sorts of things in the romance example instead of saying Alexandria or Lucinda or whoever sees my value you know trying to affect a specific person you could go more general and and how you show up in one example I wrote here is I am open and ready to receive a loving partner I'm open I'm ready to receive a loving partner however we don't want to force that to put too much pressure on you so at the right at the right time the ideal person will show up in the meantime I will demonstrate the qualities of the person I intend to attract so you can reword these and things that are more comfortable for you but you your affirmation instead of being about a specific person and maybe you maybe if you do have a particular person who you have in mind he would love to be a romantic partner it's just not happening maybe identify the qualities of that person that you are attracted to so I'm hoping and ready to receive a loving partner who is funny who is witty who isn't involved you know whatever whatever those qualities are that you find appealing and attractive say those are the qualities of the person that you are to attract or once he not trying or you are open and willing to receive but don't put a time limit on any of these things I would say I think you're probably all familiar like when you're trying you're doing the dating sites or whatever in your and you're kind of like not desperate but you're really eager to find a partner quite often they don't show up but as soon as you sort of like I give up on this guy I don't care anymore and then the right person the next day somebody's there it doesn't always happen but sometimes there's this sort of yin and yang of of really knowing what you want and then letting it go knowing what you want and then not being attached to it letting it come to you organically and so do your best not to get frustrated if that career thing that doesn't come immediately or if the romantic partner or whatever it is that you're wanting the money whatever that thing is that business that you want to start just stay clear on your intention and then let go and then allow and pay attention to what is showing up but I love that I am open and ready to receive a loving partner actually I just recorded yesterday a new affirmation it'll probably be up next week where instead of saying I am or I'm attracting it's it's uh it's more focused on allowing like I invite whatever that quality is into my life I welcome it into my life I'm open and ready to receive it it's just a slightly different approach to affirmations and I think you're gonna really like that so that'll that'll be up sometime early early next week so this all leads it made me realize that also in this in this thing that I the romantic example in the meantime I will demonstrate the qualities of the person I intend to attract and this sort of like ties into that well-known Gandhi quote is be the change that you want to see in the world so be the type of person that you would want to be in a relationship with examine straight the qualities of the type of person that you were wanting to attract or who you know yeah if you're the ideal romantic partner or co-worker or co-founder of the business you know the whole Golden Rule you'll do unto others as you would have them do on to you what do you look for in a partner whether it's a business partner a romantic partner a be that type of person detached from whether the other partner is showing up in your world right now so be the change be that demonstrate the qualities of the person you intend to attract its highs into the serenity prayer X I'm gonna stop for just a second check my she's been seeing a lot of comments zipping by here so just let me get a little caught up here and and acknowledge some of these things and here we go i'm elora says thanks I never thought of doing affirmations for others I just have prayed yeah cuz usually there they are for yourself but this was an interesting question and it made me think about it how do you do affirmations for for other other other people what I say is that what I see this is Aparna's that I just joined this live but cancer can I seriously do affirmations for my family yeah as long as you're doing them in the I mean I would might suggestion is what I covered yeah Earl earlier I think we not know you can do them for your family as long as the focus is on how you this is how you want to feel and how you want to perceive them and effect and but it's all focused on your behavior now you're not trying to send some vibrations to change someone else's behavior focus on what you can control which is really how you feel and what you know how you show up and how and what you do Laura says Cleveland in the house yeah those are some nice when Don Castro there has some nice affirmations I see perfect self in every way my friends know that's and Diane says I think you're right to show them how beautiful life can be through our example they have free will and we just have to love them that that's a great sentiment right there yeah we each have free will and we have the we lead by example if we want someone to be more creative or to be um follow their dream you gotta and you're like their guardian or their parents or mentor or something again what you want for somebody else are you doing that for yourself if you wanting your child or your whatever significant other to follow their dreams are you demonstrating that you're following yours so yeah I think I did a video last week or the week before about yes serving your you know putting others first versus putting yourself first and how quite often putting yourself first is the most unselfish thing that you can do so yeah show up the way you want others to be and that's the best way to influence them or one of the best ways yeah and you can you can encourage you can also you can host share these videos with them or encourage them to do affirmations you know some people will be resistant to you so you got a like people like that yeah if you say oh read this book or do these affirmations they may or may not be open to it but or maybe yeah I don't know you can encourage them without pushing too hard because they have to want it want to do the positive things so yes who says isn't doing informations for others kind of the same as doing law of attraction so law of attraction no typically is you create an energy you you create a mantra about or you know you do affirmations about what you want and then you attract those things to you I have different thoughts on how they actually get attracted to you and maybe I'll cover in a different video because it's cat it's it's little it probably involves some explanation but it gets a little tricky when you're trying to create do affirmations for someone else to be something to be attracted to someone else that's why yeah but you can you can you can send out a yeah positive thoughts about that about the person and maybe that will work but um but I think yeah if you're not gonna go back to what I was saying earlier about anything you can control okay I'm sorry I here they do informations while driving and people just stare and laugh yet dr. Zillman I do have formations while while driving and people just stare and laugh are you like exuberant in your car like you're singing and you're just saying your affirmations out loud oh good well thank you so in the mix deep house mixes it's a mouthful there I go that's not an actual person's name that's the the channel I guess Bob your timing between affirmations is perfect well thank you and so that that evolved over the last couple of years based on feedback that I got and I guess my personal preference originally was I would say them with some energy and I would repeat them and maybe it's because I knew what they were when I was doing the original the timing and some of my earlier videos as I would say them at the same speed that I said them and I was thinking oh well this can't well I want to get a bunch of them in here but a lot of people commented that there wasn't enough time and some people want to really feel it and take you know a minute or some extra seconds to not only say it but feel it and visualize it and so I've over the years I've added more and more time and also give instructions at the beginning and I'll say yeah I've in the space in between repeat it back to yourself and I'm allowing more more and more time based on the feedback that I'm getting from people some of the sleep affirmations though of course other ones I say I'll try to put up it early and the thing that I purposely did not create this for you to repeat it back just let them wash over you especially when I did the you are affirmations which were a nice little change of pace you just sit there and listen to them as if a mentor or someone you know a higher self or whatever is saying them to you but thank you I appreciate that because I've kind of had to work on that based on the feedback that I got from from people awesome yeah that's cool I know typically affirmations or you know done like guided meditations where you sit in the lotus position and you you know you you get quiet and those can and those are very effective because you're totally focused your eyes are closed on the and that could be very helpful but a lot of my affirmations yeah it can be done while you drive while you walk the dog while you you know jog clean the house whatever most of the more exceda relaxing ones should not be done you're operating how many how many of you actually operate heavy machinery that's such a funny little phrase based on how I can be a different yeah and I don't know what the letters pp I focus my informations for others based on how I can be the the I stutter obvious being being upfront with you here I stuttered a lot when I was a kid don't do it so much now but even you know may have noticed I'll stumble over my words or I'll start down one path of thought and then back up and there's a lot of a lot of stuff going on in this head of mine but if I once but but I don't worry about focusing on the messenger anymore it's focusing on the message I know my my goal is or my thought is that the message I have to deliver is more important than maybe how I say it and in the case of the affirmation audios and all that you know I could take my time I can edit it and you know give a quality product but your live you know it's it's raw and so what I'm willing to put myself out there if if I can reach you with a positive message clean the house I laugh every time I hear it oh thanks Diane yeah when I say that at the beginning of the videos or just clean the house so anyway let's talk about the serenity prayer because I think it ties into this and this is how we're gonna wrap this up and I've already been on a half hour I was gonna make this one shorter too so maybe we'll kind of make this our affirmations you probably heard of the serenity prayer if not it's a good one to know and maybe print out but it's been I looked up this look it up looked it up see there I go looked it up on Wikipedia and it's been through many iterations and translations over the years the most popular one perhaps reads this way it says god grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change the courage to change the things I can change and the wisdom to know the difference and I think this does tie into this topic of doing affirmations for other people so what can you what effect can you truly have on them and their behavior and if you can change things take those steps as if it's really important to you there's some things that you can't like the weather are certain choices that people make in regards to their life and sometimes you just have to let go and trust so let's make maybe let's make that our affirmation and close with this so it's grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change well that's a great one if you cannot if you literally can't change something again the weather is probably the most obvious example but there are other things too about how you're one of your relatives behaves or he knows they irritate you if you cannot if you actually can't have a direct effect on changing something then carrying frustration is just futile because that frustration is not gonna help change the person or the situation okay and so accept the things that you cannot change it's a beautiful thing so grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change it to let go of any guilt any frustration any tension related to those things if you can't change them no amount of tensing up is going to help the courage to change the things that you can change if you can have an effect about again it's probably ideal it's about how you show up how you take care of yourself how you doing affirmations so that you correct any negativity that you have that you're not happy with that you want to get rid of so you have to have the courage to change the things that you can which often involves a commitment taking action on the things that you're able to change and the things that we want to change they have again they're just different levels of severity our importance or priorities so you might want to change rearrange the furniture in your house that's a different sort of level than changing your health or changing if you're in a toxic environment or something of course there are different levels of priorities so but if there's something of a high priority that you have this been allowing to be the status quo you an affirmation you give me the courage to change the things that I can change that really need to be changed to benefit me and those whose lives I affect and then the wisdom to know the difference because I think a lot of times people will get equally as frustrated because it's raining as they do on something else that they actually can have an effect on and so let's just say that one more time and then wrap this up god grant me or the universe or my higher self grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change the courage to change the things that I can
