Send custom credit card

all right so over the past few years we've been seeing a lot of different types of credit cards what normally started as your regular flimsy plastic credit card we eventually got to a metal credit card after the metal credit card we've seen other variations we've seen custom metal credit cards we've seen a custom 24 karat gold credit card and we've seen other variations vertical titanium many different things entering the market but i actually just stumbled upon one of the most interesting credit cards that i've never seen before and this is actually the world's first led light up credit card so this led credit card was brought to us by a company called razer if you don't know razer you've probably heard or seen them before their most popular and well known for their keyboards and their gaming laptops and computers but they've gone into a whole array of different products like microphones chairs gaming headsets and the whole nine yards before i talk to you more about some of the details of this card whether it's worth it and what this means for the entire credit card industry i actually wanted to share with you guys the general esports community and what this actually means and how it all ties in with credit cards so for anyone who doesn't know esports has been emerging extremely fast over the past few years now razer is a company that is under the umbrella niche of the gaming and esports world we've seen other countries starting to monetize this heavily and really start to compete this on a national scale one of the most popular ways that gaming companies and esport businesses monetize their entire structure is by doing something called micro transactions in 2019 apple earned 46 billion dollars in this segment of microtransactions take for example a few months ago where epic games had a clash with the almighty apple this was pretty much a lawsuit where epic games who owns fortnite actually had a game on the app store where people could play when people were playing the mobile version of fortnite apple would take about 30 percent of those micro transactions that happened on that game epic games was not too happy about the 30 cut that apple was taking so what they did was they found a way to curve users to match the price that apple would naturally take and to actually try to maneuver the system so apple wouldn't be taking that percentage in response apple went ahead and said if you don't pay the transaction fee that everyone who uses our app store does we're just gonna kick you off our platform epic games went ahead and made a whole reaction video trying to form an allegiance with their consumer base against apple they're trying to make apple look like the evil guys in this situation and ultimately they didn't win the lawsuit now there's still a lot going on because anti-trust laws came up they're trying to sue different parties now and it's still an ongoing thing so there aren't too many details aside from this and it's consistently emerging now the whole point of mentioning that example is to share with you guys exactly the idea of how much money is in the micro transaction world of games if we take a look at this chart in 2019 the top free to play games by revenue started with fortnite at 1.8 billion dollars going down to 0.9 billion dollars for pokemon go if we take a minute to understand and fathom how much money actually goes into the gaming world we can then begin to realize exactly why these companies would want to start to move over into the transaction world with things like credit cards if companies are making revenue in the billions of dollars only expect it to grow within the next few years it only makes sense for them to monetize from a to z and to collect as much money as possible razer gaming is definitely a company that is trying to do this we've seen them expand into many different products and now into financials as well now aside from gaming we've seen apple do this and we've seen the latest x1 credit card a company brought together by some of the most top and prestigious silicon investors in the business world and making a credit card where they can monetize this and get even more data off their users so is this credit card actually going to be worth it can a gaming company switch over from gaming into credit cards and find a way to provide value and make everyone happy well one thing's for certain and they definitely know how to monetize properly the marketing on this and the led is a fascinating idea and many people assume this is probably some new type of technology but after doing further research and thanks to the reddit community i was actually able to find a source that showed this isn't new technology at all so the way this works is that whenever you come in close contact with an rfid reader it actually emits a small radio wave when readers producing a high or low frequency radio wave all you have to do is actually find something that can pick up that signal and transmit that into that glowing led i actually found a video on youtube where a guy made an rfid diagnostic tool where it actually picked up the signal and the entire bulb on that little card actually glue just like the razor card did so let's talk more about the details of this credit card other than the fact that it has a glowing led light that you know it's a little gimmicky but come on it's pretty cool with the razer card we're leveling up your experience whenever you pay meet the only prepaid card that offers cash back whenever you spend with the option of paying through the virtual card or upgrade to own a premium card the world's first card that lights up on payment and grants access to unique gamified rewards through razer pay own the card before anyone else does beta testing is now open exclusively to 1337 users so what this means is they're gonna have three different versions they're gonna have the one where you have it on your phone and you can do apple pay or pay in game another way is by getting the basic prepaid card and the third one is actually the premium card which is the one that has the led dominate with the only card that offers one percent cash back on all your purchases now there really isn't anything dominating about one percent cash back on all your purchases that is literally the lowest that they can go by getting away with some type of cash back incentive if they went any lower than that it would be a crummy crummy joke imagine if you're getting 0.5 back on a credit card you would have to spend so much money in order to get any type of return back they continue to say be phenomenal with up to five percent cash back for razer store and razer gold purchases and up to 10 cashback during the card beta wield the winning edge with the no minimum spend and no cashback cap so five percent cashback is definitely not bad at all but one of the issues is you have to spend money directly on their store in order to get that they also incentivize 10 cashback if you get signed up for the beta but i actually tried signing over the beta you actually have to live in singapore for this and they're only accepting 13 37 card members so 1 37 card members they went ahead and also said accept it anywhere and everywhere take your game global with more than 61 million visa acceptance points worldwide so what does this actually mean for the future of credit cards we're going to start to see a lot more companies going into the credit card world the world of finance and it's going to be really interesting to see how other credit card issuers like american express chase some of the bigger banks see how they start to adapt to these guys do you think that they care at all that a gaming company or apple is on the up and they're actually trying to take their client base or do you think maybe they actually might be worried and they're gonna try to adapt as well my biggest thing is imagine if we had the american express platinum card with like a blue led in the middle of the freaking american express logo that would be fire if that was three thousand dollars in annual fees every single year as frugal as i am i would one thousand percent pay for something like that could we see the future of these led rfid transmitters start to get implemented into different credit cards out on the market i mean based on seeing the influx of metal credit cards and the appeal that it actually has towards the main public audience of people who don't know credit cards i could definitely see them implementing this as well aside from the led technology being a cool flex i also think that it has some very useful features i've been trying to use my contactless payment on a card like my gold card and sometimes when the reader doesn't catch her i don't know if it's you know actually picking up my signal it's a pain in the butt because at the same time when i could insert this and it takes like three to five seconds i don't have to juggle or gamble my time trying to do the little contactless payment when sometimes those machines don't actually work so if my credit card glue up blue in the middle or had some type of led where it told me okay this rfid transmitter is working successfully it glue up that thing glue up i went on about my day that would save me more time that would be a useful feature and honestly it would just be cool so guys here's what i think is going to happen in the credit card industry major card issuers are going to adapt they've always been adapting since the dawn of time i think it's great that we're seeing a lot of these different markets starting to come up and starting to challenge some of these card issuers i'm not sure if these card issuers are going to take these other companies as a threat but in my opinion i believe that they should if we're looking at a card like the razer gaming credit card and we look at how big the gaming market actually is imagine how much money they're gonna make over the lifespan of a consumer who starts out just buying one razer product or just getting into gaming once and then all of a sudden you know they get hit with the upsell for a razer gaming card and they use that for the duration of their life not only does that add to razer but it actually takes away from major credit card issuers as well too so the less people use it their own credit cards the less interchange fees they make the less interchange fees they make the less money they make and you know businesses want to survive it's all about increasing the revenue and not taking those else so in my opinion we're gonna start seeing a lot of these credit card companies adapting as soon as we start seeing these other gaming companies and fintech companies start pushing the boundaries of what we've seen in design and benefits for these cards so thank you all so much again for tuning by this video don't forget to like subscribe comment and follow me over on
