ask these things and pray amen meet me in the um in the book of first peter chapter 5 verse 5 through 7 where you'll find our text for today first peter chapter 5 verse 5 through is where you'll find our text for today it is customary at the bread house that we stand for the reading of god's word and if you're watching online or at home get out your bed and stand or get off your couch and stand for the reading of god's word his word is reverenceable uh no matter where you are um luke i mean i'm sorry first peter chapter 5 verse 5 through 7 say amen when you found it and it reads like this i'll be reading from the english standard version of the bible and it reads like this likewise you who are younger be subject to the elders clothe yourselves all of you with humility toward one another for god opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of god so that at the proper time he may exalt you casting all your anxieties or your bible may say cares on him because he cares for you verse 6 says humble yourselves under the mighty hand of god humble yourselves under the mighty hand of god i want to talk about the transfer of power the transfer of power the transfer of power one of the trademark and hallmarks of american democracy is the peaceful transfer of power from one president to the next throughout u.s history presidential transitions have been carried out through what's called the transfer of power this is simply the period by which the exiting president and their administration transfers power to the incoming president and their administration from from briefings to the sharing of sensitive data and all of these things make up for a smooth transition of power the transition of power is key to national security it is key as well to the success of the incoming administration and during this transition it no longer matters who we voted for or for what party you belong or to which party you belong because our nation at that very moment must lay aside what divides us for the sake of who now leads us our history in the u.s is seasoned with some smooth transitions of presidential power as well as some chaotic presidential transitions of power especially when transferring to political opponents when when when when one political party has been in the white house for some time and and a new political party or the other the opposing political party has been voted in it can be it can make uh for a difficult or chaotic transfer of power in 1797 george washington our very first president uh transferred power to john adams who was our second president that was a smooth transition but uh in 1993 uh george h bush senior i believe was our 41st president who transferred power to bill clinton our 42nd president that was a smooth uh transition of power and with that they locked uh there was a launched new tradition with a letter to the incoming president it was at that moment during that transitional power from george bush to bill clinton they were opponents in the in their parties but they understood the need for for to unite for the sake of the country so george bush writes a letter and of encouragement to bill to his opponent bill clinton and and gives it leaves it on the oval office desk so that he could find peace in this presidential transition of power and then many others that were not necessarily so smooth will take for example the most recent election 2021 when we go from the 45th president to the now 46th president of our nation trump being the 46th 45th and biden being the 46th there was chaos there was disruption there was uh misunderstandings and and but why from what i do understand there was the traditional letter written from the previous president to the current president and i don't know what the letter entails but i did learn something by watching this lesson unfold or this this this election unfold i understood the importance of the transfer of power when when one person has to release power to the incoming person who has now obtained power i i learned that our nation is critical it is critical and the most vulnerable during the time of the transition of power and with that being said i must ask us a question when you accepted christ did you submit to the transfer of power i think i need to say that again because they went over your head i said when you elected christ selected christ and and made christ your savior did you submit to the transfer of power which now makes him also lord to many of us to many of us who are believers we accept the gift of salvation which means we have accepted him as savior but we have yet to accept him as lord and let me be clear if god is not lord of all in your life then he's not lord at all in your life preach pastor jay i'm trying as hard as i can i need you to understand that it is critical that you when you get saved that you transfer power back to god can i suggest to you that many of us have been in church for years and still have not made a smooth transition of power you have not given god power over your habits you have not given god power over your finances you have not given god power over your attitude you have not given god power over your leadership you have not given god you've oh you've given god power over certain things but you haven't given him power over everything and god says i'm looking for a transfer of power looking for a transfer of power our featured text for today invites our thinking and our attention to a spiritual and theological transfer of power where the believer must surrender power to god but but wait pastor i thought i thought that god gives us power and not us giving him power i'm so glad that you asked that question let me make that clear for you you must understand first of all god don't need you to give him anything he's got all power okay so pastor what do you mean by i've got to transfer power what i mean by that is you remember when adam and eve were here he he although god had the power to choose for them he gave them the option to choose for themselves that's power if there if power is anything power is choice what god said i'm not going to force salvation on you you can accept it or reject it you have power but if you accept salvation then you've got to transfer power there's something wrong with electing him to be your god but you won't allow him to be your lord you do know there's a difference between him being my god and being my lord my god says he's the creator he's i acknowledge him to be the ultimate high supreme being but if i elect him as lord then he controls my life that means whatever he say do that's what i do wherever he say go that's what i go whatever he says to say that's what i say why because i've given a transfer of power i've given a trend he empowers us after we give him power can i suggest to you that god is not obligated to empower you until you first give power to him see we want power to heal and power to deliver and power over we want god to give us power to conquer the things that we struggle with we want god to give us power to conquer the things that we struggle with but that power is a prerequisite of you giving him power over your life please note that the that although god has power over us he does not always take power over us god is is as omniscient he's omnipresent he's all-knowing he's the most high god he has authority and yet he still is a gentleman we're talking about the god that could barge in your house and take over everything but he still stands at the door and knocks he could take over your life without your permission but yet he still stands at the door and now why because our god is a gentleman he does not rape you through redemption he does not force in himself on you he just allows you to choose him and there's something good about i don't know if y'all ever felt that before it's one thing to be settled for it's another thing to be chosen i wish i had somebody help me preach up in here see it's one thing when you say i guess i'll let you be my god it's another thing when you say i choose him to be my god see some of us have just settled because we can't think of nothing else we can't buy nothing else and we tried everything else but when you're a believer like i am you choose every day i choose ye this day that that's the one i'm gonna serve why because he's worthy he's a good god yes he is i found him to be a friend i found him to be a healer that's why i chew i don't have to choose him but i'm showed on mine choosing him because he just keep on making away every time i turn around hey he keeps on making a way that's why i choose him that's why no wonder no wonder the songwriter says no wonder the songwriter says i'll take jesus for myself so he says he said he teaches us he teaches us these these that is important for us to to to to to allow god to be our lord and so when we look at peter seems to remember the day that the lord told him but peter upon this rock i will build my church he was talking to peter and so peter understood his ministry was to address the church which is why he pins first and second peter to address the church he says the gospel has already been preached it has already been lived it has already been accomplished so i'm going to address the church and then first peter in first peter you'll notice that there's two letters from peter this first peter and the second peter first peter uh he encourages the jewish exiles from jerusalem he he encourages those who have been sent out and put out of jerusalem that are now residing in asia minor these are exiles and so he's encouraging them but in the second letter he writes a warning to the church about false teachers now in chapter five which is where our text is for today he is he addressed he writes chapter five to address the leaders of the church he writes chapter five he pins chapter five and addresses the leaders and urges them to shepherd the people from a pure place he said i know you're doing the right thing but you need to check and make sure you're doing it for the right reasons he he said i want you to avoid leading from obligation but serving with gladness and he talks about that in verse two he said i don't want you to do it because i don't want you to be leading for money or leading for fortune and fame i want you to do it because you simply love god he says if there's going to come a time in your life in verse 2 that you're going to have to do this for the right reasons he he also goes into verse 2 and talks about avoid selfish serving serving for your own game there you'd be surprised how many people who occupy leadership roles in the church they don't really do so because they love god or the church they do so because they want yeah it's all about them i know it ain't none in our church i'm just saying in other churches we've probably ever been to before it's all about them everything if you've met folk like that everything is about them if you if you if your daddy died they starting to cry about they ugh ain't in your funeral we it ain't even your folk funeral you oliver i remember when i remember when my great cousin or my uncle died but we ain't my mama died today you talking about the cousin you ain't even met six years ago because you make everything about you i know y'all never met nobody like that but i'm just talking about what i'm talking about in the text everything is about them no matter if the church is doing good well you know i tried i did but everything ain't about you everything ain't about you so he's talking he says stop leading selfishly he says in verse three he talks about don't lord over them first of all you ain't the boss you're the leader see you have leadership only god has lordship he says you can't lord over people and rule over folk and there's something wrong with those of us who think we've got we who confused who have confused our anointing with authority let me i'm i'm thirsty i got to get something to drink on them i'm gonna let that sink in a little longer some of us have confused our anointing with authority because you think because you anointed you can tell folk what to do but see watch this that anointing that god dropped in you he can also withdraw and put somewhere else see i can be the pastor but i ain't the lord of the church i'm just the under shepherd and if i got enough sense to ask folk nicely what to do then certainly you are ah pull up pastor jay the point is you can't talk to folk any kind of way and call yourself a leader especially when you're dealing with grown folks grown folks yeah method like that wait a minute now i know you you know i know you the little leader down there but let me be clear what you can't do is come to me any kind of way uh-huh because see that's gonna get you that's you know anyway so so he says you can't lord over them and then in verse four he says he said i'm telling you why he said i'm telling you this not because it's wrong i'm telling you this because you need to be in verse four you need to be prepared for the chief shepherd that's coming back oh he says when the chief shepherd what chief shepherd jesus when he comes back he's going to be grading the leaders oh it's scary right there y'all that's scary right there y'all why is that scary because if your leadership is in a way that that does not reflect the the the shepherd like relationship of god which let me put it this way if god stands at the door and knock what gives you the right to barge in if he's their god and he's polite and what gives you the right to overrule uh-huh so what when he comes back he's judging the leaders he says if you do this right you'll have a crown that won't fade a crown that won't go away a crown he said he's talking about that crown that you get when you get to glory he's talking about that graduation service that cap and gown service with the white robe and the crown on your head he's talking about that service and usually watch this so he he gives us these principles of leadership and and and and understanding the leadership of servanthood and all this stuff and then he talks to us about he's but inside of this chapter inside of this address to the leaders is an encrypted message to all believers it's an encrypted message because it's not something you would see on the surface level of just reading the text it's something you'll have to understand in the undertones and the style of writing that peter has although peter is addressing the leaders there's a lot the everybody the body of christ can learn and what we what i discovered in this text after reading it is that you which is why i entitled the message the transfer of power what i discovered is that usually the area of our struggle reveals the area we have not transferred power to god let me say that one more time the area of your struggle in your life do not miss this i need you to hear me very well think about the area you struggle most in your life whether it's a whether it's an area that that that people are hurting you or people or an area where you're struggling sinfully or you're just an area of your life that's strong that you struggle in to think about that now usually the area of your struggle reveals the area you have not surrendered to god pastor i'm struggling with my finances have you surrendered your finances to god pastor i'm struggling in my love life have you surrendered your love life to god pastor i'm struggling in my health have you surrendered your body to god see usually the area that we struggle is usually the area that we won't give to god let me tell you something you can go through all the 12-step programs you want you can read all the verses you want you can come to church all you want and until you give it over to god ain't nothing going to change you can cry you can pray you can be depressed you can worship you can do all that stuff and until you say not my will but vine will be done ain't nothing gonna change so you might well stop crying stop blaming everybody else stop fussing at everybody else you might want to accept the fact baby you need to grow up and accept responsibility not just for your flaws but accept the fact that this is the area i have not given god keys to i i i remember i remember uh when i had my house i had my house and and the the the maintenance man had come in to fix some things in my house and and he uh he had keys to my my front door he could get into my garage but in my office he couldn't get in at my house and so i get home from work angry because because the what he's supposed to be fixing in my office he had fixed but watch this dick what i discovered is that when i got home and i was angry i called them mad i said i don't understand how y'all been in my house all day i deceived you on camera say been in my house all day and you ain't fixed what i asked you to fix in my office he said mr johnson the door was locked and we don't have keys to that room can i make that make sense to you can are you expecting god to fix things you won't give him access to preach pastor jay i'm trying as hard as i can i wish i had somebody help me up in here i said are you mad because god ain't fixed something you ain't gave him access to oh you're mad because see you can't just because he god can't fix it if you don't give him keys to the room now watch it you do know he can go in if he wants to the maintenance man could have broke the door down but i'm so glad he didn't because that would have caused another problem so what he did says i'll just wait till you to give me access and god is saying i'll fix it when you let me in oh look at how y'all looking at me up in here see that ain't shouting preaching right there let's get your life together preaching right there let's get somewhere and sit down preaching right there because see too many of us we want god fix it make a way open the door and he said you open the door and i'll open the door god don't open doors that you keep closing we've got to understand that god has power god has power when we transfer power to him we make him the power of eternity of attorney we make him power over our money power over everything in our life and in this message we can find some key principles on how to transfer power to god i'm gonna give you three of them and you can write these down the first one is submission you're gonna need that in the transfer of power the second one is humility and the final one is surrender the first one is submission you're gonna need that if you're gonna transfer power to god secondly you're gonna need humility if you're gonna transfer power to god and the last one is you're gonna need surrender if you're gonna transfer power to god submission look at verse five look at verse five and i'm gonna read it from the king james version in verse five he says humble yourselves he says no he says likewise you younger submit yourselves unto the elder yeah all of you be subject one to another and be clothed with humility right for god resisted the proud and giveth grace to the humble now i want y'all to see something here i'm gonna read this again the king james version is normally not really known for what i call uh uh um authoritative slang but that's exactly what happened in this verse let me show it to you he says likewise ye younger submit yourselves unto the elder yeah all of you that's what a slain came in yes all of you he gives an answer before you even ask the question who are you talking to all of you that's what he says yeah you and you and all of you yeah so be subject one to another the first phrase of the verse he deals with younger to submitting to the elder and we'll deal with that in a second but he says all of you subject one to the other and be clothed with humility for god resisted the proud and giveth grace to the humble when we accept christ as savior it is conditional that we submit to him as lord why because that's how you transfer power to him submission submission god ain't gonna beat you into submission god ain't gonna force you into me i know that i know we think that you know sometimes we're going through stuff because god trying to beat us and no no he don't do that now what happens is a lot of you have you are you are up you are accessible by the enemy you're vulnerable and exposed to the attacks of the enemy god ain't beating you up you just ain't under the right covering so he can protect you from the stuff that's going to always be coming at you see if if if i'm behind the shield it don't matter what the devil throws because it it's going to eat the shield and not hit me but if i'm outside of the covering then i'm gonna get attacked and what a lot of us say well god beat me up no he's not no you just you uncovered that's why you're getting attacked he ain't beating you up you uncovered that's the difference he ain't punishing you you're uncovered and so he says he says to us he says when we accept him we transfer his power we can't do his will your way you cannot do god's will your way you can't do what's god's will marriage that's god's will but you can't do it your way see the rules don't change because you feel in some kind of way today oh see you can't do god's will your way we think oh as long as i'm doing what doing what he asks but no no you got to do it his way because watch this faith is doing things his way at our expense it is not doing things got your way at his expense it's doing things his way at our expense so your blessings come through your submission and alignment let me say that to you let me say this to you even jesus submitted to god he did in the garden he was sweating crying nervous about what was about to take place he said lord remove this bitter cup from me and god and jesus said wait a minute hold up nevertheless not my will but thine will be done he submitted i need you to understand your blessings come through your submission and alignment to listen there's something wrong you cannot be blessed if you refuse to submit to god but look at something here he says the word submit he used the word submit the word submit is a military term it means to stand under authority if you look at hebrews 13 and 17 it tells you to um it tells the writer tells you to submit to those who have got who have been ordained rule over you wait a minute pastor he i thought we would stop my submission to god i only submit to god why are we taught my submission to people because look at what he said submit yourselves to the elder you want me to select submit to leaders yo wait a minute i thought it was time i submitted to god no no baby notice that before god talks about you submitting to him he talks about you submitting to who he ordained over you so when your mama and daddy tell you to get somewhere and sit down and you need to do better as a parent you need to do better as a school you need to do better in church you need that's because there's god ordained leadership over your life god always fleshes out his instructions through those he placed over you it's frustrating as parents when you're telling your kids over and over and over again don't do this don't mess your credit up don't do that stop that you need to do this need to spend more time with these kids you need to start get your job you need to fill out the application they're not mad at you they trying to help you submit to those who god have placed over you oh we got this mentality i only submit to god but you won't submit to who he placed in your life and it's impossible to submit to god and not submit to who he sent see we want god to come out the throne and come down here and show up in the white robe and say i said to do this by the way god work he gives you pastors to instruct you and correct you it is not my job to be your friend it's my job to make sure that for god you live and for god you die and let me be clear those who are in my church who who are members of this great church who are closest to me they will tell you they get it the worst from me because i ain't got no problem with telling them get somewhere and sit down are we going to eat or no after i get done letting you have it then i'm going to ask you we're going to eat or now because i'll be your friend and share a meal with you and buy you lunch but as your pastor i'm going to tell you you are failing you need to get somewhere and sit down everybody got to be held accountable by somebody but see we don't like folks telling us what to do look at how y'all looking at me up in here you got to submit to leaders to the people god placed in your life he begins submission about talking about submission by submitting to others god never intended for you to do anything on your own never never nowhere in the bible where god tells you to do it by yourself there is nowhere in scripture even jesus got help 12 disciples he picked even god even god works as a team can anybody answer this question for me what's the first relationship ever to exist in the bible anybody know first relationship to ever exist in the bible if you say adam and eve you're about two relationships off the first one that's the first human to human relationship the first human and god relationship is between god and adam but there is a relationship before that that's with god and himself god does nothing by himself he even god the trinity operates as a team they depend on each other god says i'm the creator god the father says i'm the creator and the governor god the son says i'm the savior and the redeemer god the holy ghost says i'm the communicator and the translator they all work as a team and i need you to understand that if the son of god can submit to the father of god what makes you think you ain't got to submit to who god sent to you are you mad now you're going to transfer power it becomes with submitting to who god gave you who gave authority over you god never intended for you to do anything on your own get delivered from this perspective it's me and god against the world it is never intended for you to be that way there is nowhere in scripture where god used a person and they did it all by themselves never nowhere in scripture is not recorded we want to submit to god without submitting to who he ordained now if we read this verse we'll just we'll see the word elder and if we're not careful we will assume that peter is saying submit he said that he's saying you younger submit to the older but older does not mean elder see he's not saying older he's saying elder and elder does not necessarily mean older see i have the great privilege of being the pastor of this church but a lot of the leaders that i lead got kids my age but they submit to the position that i have i'm younger than them but i am the elder of them and my teacher that making sense see sometimes god will send people in your life who are a lot further along on this christian journey than you are but because you don't like them and because you think you you are older than them they can't tell you nothing oh but see the problem is you think because you've been in church 30 years that you've been in christ 30 years and you do know there's a difference between being in church and being in christ because when you're in church you don't have to change nothing but when you're in christ all things perhaps any man be in christ he's a new creature see see what i've learned even as the pastor there are things i can learn that although i'm the i'm the pastor of the house there are still people here that are elder in areas than that i'm not um i'll pick on somebody right now just because sandy is quiet she don't talk a lot i talk too much she's my elder in that area if i want to learn to hush and somebody i can look at and learn from you know what i'm saying saying i'm just picking on you don't don't judge me because she gonna come for me later on the point is we can learn from folk who are but see we don't like people telling us what to do because we don't we we don't we watch this we got a problem with learning from folks we don't like oh ooh pastor jay what if god send me somebody to teach me that i don't really like what if my lessons come from folk i don't i can't stand oh but you're gonna have to learn from the folk you don't like you may not get along with your parents but you better learn from them you may not get along with sister so-and-so but you better learn from them you may not like pastor jay all the time but you better learn from why because you ain't got to like everybody that you learn from god says he says he says he resisted the proud that word resisted is interesting i thought it just means that he just kind of shuns them that he walks away from them but that word resist is scary the text says in verse five he says god res he says they are clothed with humility he says but god resisted the proud the resist i thought he just meant just kind of turn his back on him and shun him but the word resist it means to continue to set himself against and go to war against that changes everything about that god says if you arrogant i'm going to war with you you have just now become my enemy i don't i don't really think you want to be enemies with god i don't i don't really think you want to pick that fight because i guarantee you you're going to lose every time he didn't just say i don't like them he said they are now my enemy the moment you become arrogant you become his enemy he resists the proud he says and if notice what the text says it says resist death oh that suffix f means continues to he says you're going to continue to be my enemy as long as you continue to be arrogant he says submission but i also want if you're going to have transfer of power you must have humility church say humility verse six says humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of god so that at the proper time he may exalt you humility is required in the transfer of power the word humility means to bring oneself low it means to make low the emphasis on the definition is not in being low but the emphasis is on the fact that you have to make and bring yourself to being low it means i'm really on this level but i have to convince myself i'm down here you have to push yourself to be lower in other words you have to beat yourself into a submission that causes you to be humble when you look at god suddenly you don't look as good as you look when you look at others but you know what bothers me because you know what really bothers me about folk is that they can stand face to face to god and still think they all that how are you looking at the holy of holies in his face and still think you decent oh but when i look at god i discover every flaw i've ever had i look at all the spots on me and all the failures on me and all the mistakes i've made when i look at how holy he is i can't help but discover how unholy i am and maybe that's the problem with these arrogant folk in church they keep looking in the mirror but they ain't looking at god because when you look at god you will discover ain't nothing good about me ever on my best day i'm the worst of me oh my best day ain't good enough oh i thank god when i saw him i just started getting excited about the fact that he forgave me that he kept me because when i look at how filthy i was and how disgusting i was i can't help but say i ain't really worthy to be here but i'm so glad that he let me anyway can i tell y'all something our churches are suffering from too many prideful preachers who think because they can dress staying cute that they got power but when you realize it was god who made you and god who calls you it'll humble you to the point where you realize i'm just glad to be on program no wonder the songwriter said i'd rather be a doorkeeper in the house of the lord because i ain't really worthy to be in the house in the first place but thanks be to god he let me in all the crack you smoked all the drugs you did all the sex you had all the ways you've been all the lies you told all the stuff you did and he still let you in the house you ought to give god a quoting scripture you better humble yourself i don't care how great you can teach you better humble yourself i don't care how anointed you are you better humble yourself i don't care how powerful you are you better humble yourself you don't want god to ever remind you that it is in him you live move and have your being oh you don't want god to ever remind you oh i said you don't want god to have to remind you that you didn't bring yourself this far but it was him that brought you it was everything you know he taught you everywhere you gonna go he brought you he says he he he says humility is baby don't get it twisted you ain't always been where you're at humble yourself humble yourself humble yourself just cause your skirt hits the floor don't mean it still won't go above your head just cause you got a towel don't mean it won't come off humble yourself humility is an acknowledgement that you need him it's an acknowledgement that you need him it's an action verb it's an action verb in this verse now in the in verse in verse in verse 5 humility is a noun because he says clothe yourself in it now it's a noun but in verse 6 it's a verb he says you can clothe your it's something you it's something that is but humility is also something you do he says in verse 5 he says to clothe yourself in humility do you know what the word clothes means clothe means to cover one's nakedness i said well what lord why do i need to clothe myself in humility and peter says the reason you must clothe yourself in humility is because you need to cover those naked parts of you that you shame about he said but watch this don't cover it with arrogance you need to cover it with humility in other words people need to see that you've made mistakes but they don't need to see all your mistakes see you can look at this vest and tell that i'm fat but you can't look at it and tell why my fat is you may see what some of it is but you can't tell where all of it is not too much because y'all y'all do know y'all pastor is pity and we'll go on you back don't do that don't do that oh my god don't do that y'all be careful y'all be real careful with that cause i don't oh god but the point is you gotta club cover yourself see because watch there's too many of us we're walking around we got clothes on we cover ourselves with arrogance like we got it all together but but what you don't know is people what people don't see is you got spiritual spanx on oh you deceiving folk you really ain't as thin as you look because you've covered yourself in something that looks i wish i had somebody talk back to me can i go and take off right there you gotta clothe yourself clothe yourself clothe yourself clothe yourself he says clothe yourself in humility clothe yourself humility he says he says you need he says to close yourself humility it it he gives grace and favor to the humble grace and favor to them this he says the reason why you need to clothe yourself it's cause that's where your grace comes from your humility gives birth to your favor see folk if you look like you got it all together then why does god need to bless you see if if you're walking around here like you got it together then you don't need god to make a way see it's contradictory for you to be crying lord make a way lord make a way but then you walk around like you don't need a way to be made but when you're humble you realize i'm good because he got me because he takes care of me because he keep on making away so so he says he says humble yourselves under the mighty hand of god the word hand of god the mighty hand implies the power of god he like he you he the same hand that he used to deliver israel from egypt he says the mighty hand of god now watch this we don't mind being in his hands until we have to be under his hands see if you're in his hands that means can't nothing happen to you until it goes through his hands but when you're under his hands it means that you can't get to nothing until going through him see when you're in his hands can't nothing get to you without coming through him but when you're under his hand can't nothing get to you can't get to nothing else without going through him in other words it's a submission to the power of god if you under my hand you're under my control when you under my hand you under my spell when you under my hand you are under my authority and see too many of us want to be in his hands but not under his hands oh y'all like this kind of teaching up in here oh he says he says but if you do that i will exalt you in due time they're the proper time for exalting you he says i will exalt you in due time the proper time what does that word proper mean what does do mean the word do is an agrarian term which means it is a term which means ripe already it is a term that implies that the fruit has now reached the place where it can be plicked and served i need you to understand many of us want to be exalted but you want to come out too early you ain't ready yet you still got some see see if you're growing a fruit you don't want if you pick it out too early and you taste it it's going to be bitter but if you let that thing grow to the point to where it's ripe and ready now you can serve it and people will say oh taste and see oh that's good right there and i think the reason why a lot of us keep getting spit out by people that we come in contact with is because we're too early we ain't waited until we developed we ain't wait until we're ready and we want to be exalted before it's our due season but baby this ain't your season but if you humble yourself under the mighty hand of god he will exalt you in your new season but you do know if there's a due season there's an expired season because watch this now see sometimes when you did finally get ready you didn't want to do nothing when you did finally get ready you didn't want to serve and so now now that you spoiled and rotten and don't taste good you want to serve folk but see falling no no baby you look you small you're right and i don't really want that see this is why you got to learn how to master your season he says i will exalt you which means to lead you to be exalted he says i will exalt you there it is because too many of us want to exalt ourselves but he says i will exalt you underneath selfishness is a need to be exalted can i tell you something that most arrogant people are the most insecure people they have insecurities and so what we want to do is we use our leadership to feed our insecurities we use our positions to cater to our insecurities we don't really think most arrogant people really don't think that highly of themselves but they are what they're fighting to do is protect your image of them not their image of them does that make sense so say they're so they're insecure that's how you most arrogant people are sensitive people they're not humble they're sensitive you know why because they think everything is out to tear up the image they want people to have of them they're insecure there's some people who really dislike me because they think i want what they have but your issue is not necessarily with me it's because you think i can actually take what you have see some people are intimidated by your success because they are insecure about their failures the last one is surrendered i'm done i'm done it's surrendering verse seven he says casting all your cares on him we must surrender all of our cares to him in the transfer of power now you may give him your cares he says after you have submitted to the people he's placed in your life after you have humbled yourself under his hand now you can cast your cares upon him see we've been quoting this verse i can cast all my cares upon him for he cares for me but can i tell you something you ain't obli god is not obligated to receive what you care about until you first submit yourself to authority until you humble yourself before him you're giving god all your cares and god said i don't want that till you humble yourself cause some stuff you worried about wouldn't even be a problem if you submit to your elders and you humble yourself he says now you may cast your cares in verse 7. he says casting your cares is humility giving in to worries is a sign of pride what giving in to worries is a sign of pride pastor how is me giving in to what i'm worried about a sign of pride i'll tell you how it implies that you must solve your own problems and you become your own god so let me make that make sense to you if i'm worried about something how it's going to work how it's going to happen how it's going to be fixed if i'm worried about it and i surrender to that worry me which means i try to do something about it now you've taken matters into your own hands because you think you can fix your own problems how prideful and cocky are you to call yourself a child of god who 100 trust in god but you're gonna fix your own stuff prideful you know why it's prideful because you actually think you can fix your own problems you've given yourself way too much credit the problem is if you could fix it you would never need god if there's a habit somebody's trying to break i don't know who it is but there's a habit somebody the problem is you keep trying to break it and you can't break it you can't quit i can quit anytime i want to no you can't because if you could you would have been done it by now you can't quit you need god to do it trust in the lord with all thine heart and lean not to i thought own dirty is understanding but in all your ways acknowledge him you can't fix it if you could fix it you wouldn't need him if you could fix it what you're praying for if you can fix it while you come to church because you need him stop telling yourself that lie you can fix it you can't you're gonna need some help he says casting all your cares upon him and i'm done if we're not careful we will interpret this verse as though he's saying everything you worried about everything you can't fix everything you can't control give that to him that's not what he's saying he says give me everything even the things you think you can control even the things you think you've got under control even the things you think are working just fine give that to him too give it to him everything the good the bad the ugly give it to him give it all to him give it all to him you know why you ought to because if you just think about it you ain't been doing too good with it in your hands no way i mean let's just be honest come on be honest you don't you didn't had it all this time and you still ain't fixed it how long are you gonna keep dealing with this how long you gonna keep dealing with this you ain't waiting on god to do it god is waiting on you to release it he cared he says cast your cares upon me for i care for you what does that mean i used to think that that that verse meant when he said the care for he cares for you that that means that he cares about me but that's not what that verse means it means care for me it means he's the one caring for me it's a it's a word picture when i looked looked up the word it's a word picture of daycare it's a word picture of when you drop your child off at school you are trusting that they are going to take care of them god says i'm your care provider i i make sure you eat i make sure you're clothed truth be told it ain't your job that did it but he's always cared for you he's taking care of you he's made ways for you you can cast all your cares upon him because he cares for you maybe you're here today and you haven't accepted christ as your lord and savior i want to invite you to do a transfer of power i want to invite you to accept him as your lord and savior i want you
