[Music] everyone is sama Kai yeah today I want to talk about how you can handle multiple currencies inside of power bi I see you I see a lot of these questions on on the forums and it's very obviously extremely common especially for accountants who need to do or Finance people who need to need to work out what is the value of their potential sales brought back to their home currency or valued in a currency right now there's a few intricacies in this in this scenario and I'm gonna talk through all of them and how you can actually most of all the majority of them and help you solve them okay so the very first one the very first one is you see this table on the right hand side here this is a currency table this is generally how you how you'll get your currency data and so if I show you the back end here I'm going to show you what you need to actually do to this table to integrate it into our model so how if I click through if I click through here you're gonna see you're gonna see what I've done to this table so you can see here we've got dates and then we've got the currency pairs like so I mean this is this is common because this is how you'll be given data you sometimes a bank will send it to you sometimes you can download it off online and this is how this is how currency information usually is retrieved now the big thing here though is that this is really not useful at all if you wanted to incorporate this data on the fly into your calculations so what you have to do is you want to UM pivot those columns right so you have a date and then you have a currency column and then you have the actual exchange rate column and if I just come down here I've done a few other trends because what I did was I had the currency Pierre and then I created the foreign currency and then I had the exchange rate so you want one line per day and per currency that is one of the key things that you have to do too and then incorporate this into your power bi model now if I jump back to the model so I'm going to save that and then jump back to the model I'm just going to show you the the setup here so you've got your sales data and in this case our model is a date stable product so we're selling products to customers and specific regions around the world right and if we look at the sales data table this is we're going to do all our calculations in the India we've got a currency code so this currency code is aligned to the region that we that we sold alone so...
