in this video we're going to talk about how we can create an interactive checklist with Excel in addition to that we're going to include custom formats in the use of the if function as well as some other formulas also so let's begin in column C I'm going to write the names of a few individuals let's say Jason Kelly Lauren Rachel and Ronald now to the left in column B and we're going to create the checklist so first we need to put a Developer tab so let's go to file options customize ribbon and then select the checkbox next to the word Developer and then click OK so now go to the Developer tab click it and then press will click insert under form controls select the checkbox and then left click any cell that you'll see here so now let's delete the word checkbox now I'm gonna right click it copy and then right click again paste so let's put the next checkbox here you could also press control V to paste another checkbox and let's make one more so there you go that's a simple way in which you can create an interactive checklist in Excel so at this point if we want to we can click the check box or deselect it but right now it doesn't do anything so let's see if we can add some functionality to it so what I'm gonna do is right click and then over here in the formula bar I'm going to set it equal to whatever it is found in a3 so now notice what happens if I check that box notice that in a3 it displays a value of true let's do the same for the other ones so let's set this one equal to a4 and then right click set this equal to 8/5 and then right click cell b6 set it equal to a 6 and then do the same thing for the last one so now if I select this it's going to give me a value of true on the left side if I deselect it it will say false now the first thing I'm gonna do is I'm gonna add some custom formatting along with these check boxes now what we're going to do at this point is first I'm going to adjust the width of this column next so let's select these cells and then go to home conditional formatting and select a new rule so I'm going to select this option use a formula to determine which cells to format and then under this section let's select cell a3 now I want the columns to remain an absolute reference but for the rows I want it to be a relative reference so I'm going to take out the dollar sign in front of the 3 and then go to format and for the background color under the fill tab I'm going to choose a light blue color and...
