the compounding crisis of covid and kobe 19 along with the economic crisis following that and climate crisis racial equity issues and you know some of the executive actions i'm going to sign today are going to help change the course of the cove crisis and we're going to combat climate change in a way that we haven't done so far and advance racial equity and support other underserved communities we're going to rebuild our economy as well and these are just all starting points and we're going to in the process of rebuilding the economy do what i said throughout the campaign and while running that rebuild the backbone of the country middle class and so there's going to be a lot of focus on that and i think some of the things we're going to be doing are going to be at 19 strategy the president signed 10 executive orders to jump start efforts to accomplish his goal of 100 million vaccinations in his first 100 days now some key points announced today a mask requirement for interstate travel on public transportation guidance and resources to help schools and day cares reopen federally supported vaccination centers expanding the pool of people who can administer the vaccine and reimbursing states 100 percent to use their national guards to help covet relief efforts our national strategy is comprehensive it's based on science not politics it's based on truth not denial and it's detail president biden facing steep obstacles in his plan including uncertainty over whether congressional republicans will help pass his 1.9 trillion coronavirus package democratic congresswoman ayanna presley of massachusetts has repeatedly called for recurring direct payments to americans she tweeted this week after biden revealed his slightest damage plan that the people deserve demand and require two thousand dollars in recurring monthly survival checks now with the victories of john ossoff and raphael warnock for the georgia runoff elections democrats will soon have 50 seats in the senate and kamala harris now has a tie-breaking vote senator markey tweeted on january 4th i want recurring two thousand dollar survival checks in the hands of the american people so do sixty-five percent of americans we can and we must get this done if you guys didn't know president joe biden wants to pass 1400 stimulus payments but several progressives in congress are pushing for two thousand dollars to must checks and nothing less than that support a two thousand dollar or fourteen hundred dollar stimulus checks now buying also defends why stimulus payments should go to employed americans now that's because there are many workers who haven't lost their jobs but have lost hours had their wages cut or have had to step back from work to take care of their families had their wages cut or had to step back from work to take care of their families according to biden this group likely represents millions of workers who will not be eligible for unemployment benefits that are included in the expanded weekly amount of stimulus relief a policy advisor a policy advisor told cnbc there are millions of families out there facing economic hardship regardless of specific access to unemployment insurance as a result we should make sure that the households are stabilized everybody i would like to know what you think in the comments down below do you believe that on especially when you're talking about a figure that is as big as nearly 2 trillion dollars and so we'll have to see what sort of concessions they give to those hold out republicans who who might be asking for something that's not even related to you know direct economic stimulus but i think you know the president-elect will rely on financial experts um as we've been told from officials who have said uh that there really is no time to waste that you know you heard a little bit of him saying that in the piece there that it is our moral obligation because if we don't put in this investment now which is what he's calling it he said you know the the situation will only become much worse now for the social security information according to the motley fool social security is meant to help ensure financial security for seniors but it is not designed to pay tens of thousands of dollars in monthly benefits as a result there will be a as a result there will be a cap on the amount of money any retiree can receive now for example in 2021 the social security wage base limit is 142 000 those who won't make those who make more will not pay social security taxes on any extra income above that limit and they also won't get credit for any extra income when benefits are determined we do the president-elect and his team are facing some questions about whether the plan for 1400 stimulus wait until their full retirement age for those who become eligible for retirement benefits in 2021 the age is 66 years old in 10 months by waiting by waiting to claim benefits up until age 70 retirees
