hello today I'm going to be talking about how to transfer a vehicle title please note this video was made in the summer of 2019 things may have changed since now this video is also focusing on transferring vehicle titles in the state of Georgia however a similar process should apply to the state that you live in now you found a car that you love and you're ready to buy first make sure you look at the title the front of the title should have information accurate to what the vehicle is and what the seller has told you be sure to check that the sellers name on the title matches the sellers name on the driver's license it is also important to look at the vehicle identification or the VIN number on the title make sure that this number matches the same VIN number that's on the vehicle now that you've seen all of the information on the front of the title is consistent with what the seller has told you it's time to look at the other sections of the title this section here will list any liens on the title hopefully there are no liens on the title if there are discuss this with the seller this next section will tell you if the vehicle is salvaged rebuilt or the title has been replaced if the title has been replaced this isn't that big of a deal this simply means that the previous owner or the previous previous owner lost the title and applied for a replacement if the title says that the vehicle is salvaged this might be a big red flag salvage titles mean that the vehicle must be rebuilt which may be an expensive process a rebuilt title means that the vehicle was once salvaged and has now been rebuilt and is legal to drive again generally rebuilt title vehicles are not worth as much as clean title vehicles in order for a title will be clean there must be no liens this space must be blank and the back of the title must be blank as well so hopefully you have a clean and clear title ready to be filled out the back of the title has these following sections today we're going to be only looking at the private sale section it is important that you completely fill out the private sale section at the date of purchase in a blue or black ink pen please try not to make any mistakes on the back of the title as these can incur charges at the DMV if you do make any mistakes on the title simply cross a single line through them and write the correct information above it this will give you the best chance at the DMV for not incurring any charges the only information that the seller must fill out at the date of purchase is printing and signing their name the rest of the title you should...
