Send subscriber initial
Hey guys. My name is Tim Schmoyer, and it's Wednesday, which means it's time to give you guys some YouTube tips, ideas, suggestions, advice, things like that, like we do every Wednesday here at Video Creators. I have a tip I want to give you guys that will solve a problem. A lot of you guys have been asking me, Tim, how do we send emails of our new videos to our YouTube subscribers? Because I don't like the subscription feed on YouTube, or the sub box is always breaking, and people aren't getting actual notifications of my new video uploads. So I'm going to show you guys today, here are two ways that you can send email notifications to your YouTube subscribers about your new videos. Number one, this one's actually the easiest. If you just instruct your viewers to go to your channel where they're going to subscribe and click on that little gear icon next to the Subscribe button, they see this drop down box. It shows them their subscription preferences. And all they have to do is click that first box, which says, send me updates. The email notification that they get looks like this. There's a big picture of the thumbnail that they can click to go watch the video. The full description text is there. Unsubscribe preferences. All that is there in that email. They can also manage all of their email subscriptions to YouTube channels simply by going to youtube.com/subscription manager, and from there, subscribing and unsubscribing from email notifications for these various YouTube channels is as easy as simply clicking that little box yes or no, checking it or unchecking it. There is a downside to this method, though, guys, and that is that these emails that YouTube sends goes to the Promotions tab in Gmail, not straight to the inbox like I know all of us would prefer. So let me give you a second option instead, and this is one that I use here on this channel. At the end of all my videos, perhaps you see this little eBook I show visually. It's called The Secret to Building your YouTube Audience, and I say download it for free at videocreators.com. And when people go and do that, they sign up for my email list. Once they confirm that they are on my email newsletter-- which is those of you guys who are Video Creators insiders, I give you guys all, like, behind the scenes stuff. I give you secret things that I don't talk about here. I'm always trying to give more value to you guys there that I don't fit into videos here on this channel. So subscribe if you're not there. But what happens when you're on that email newsletter, then I have your email address and I can just send you videos directly. Now, that's not how I use that email list personally. I try to do added value that I'm not putting here on the channel. But for those of you guys who just want to own your own audience and not just keep it all in YouTube's hands and actually have the email addresses of the people who are subscribed to your channel so you can send them other things besides just videos and other correspondent things like that, like a newsletter or whatever. You can send them lots of-- you can use-- I'm losing my train of thought. You can do a lot of different things with an email list. So the way to do that, guys, I personally use mailchimp.com. I highly recommend them. There's a link to them in the description below. I'm not sponsored by them or anything. That's just who I use, and I recommend them. And if you go with this method, I recommend that you give the viewers something that's valuable to them in exchange for signing up for your list. So if you're doing, like, a cooking channel, maybe you're going to give them, like, 30 of your favorite recipes. Or maybe if you're a beauty channel, you're going to give them, I don't know, your top ten tips for mascara. A perfect example would be a bonus video or secret video or more in-depth video about your story if you're vlogging. Or if you're a gamer, maybe it's like your top ten most epic whatever type of stuff. And it's just an unlisted YouTube video, but they get access to it when they sign up for your email list. I'd love to hear from you guys in the comments below. If you do have an email list for your channel, how do you grow it? What tactics and advice and tips and strategies would you recommend for someone who's thinking about getting started with this type of strategy? And if you're one of those people who's thinking about it, definitely make sure you take some time to read the comments down there. I know you'll learn a lot of valuable stuff from them. Also, if you guys aren't a Video Creators insider, you should be. You'll get a free copy of my eBook, The Secret to Building Your YouTube Audience. The link to do that is in the description below this video also. I love to send you guys weekly things like I've talked about here. And if this is your first time here, I'd love to have you subscribe to this channel as well. Every Wednesday, I give you guys some YouTube tips, ideas, suggestions, and advice, things like this. Tomorrow I'll do some YouTube Q&A with you guys. On Thursday, we take a look at all the updates and changes happening on YouTube. And guys, I do all of this because I really believe that a lot of you guys have messages that need to spread and the world needs to hear, and I really want to help you guys grow your YouTube audiences and your channel so that the people who need to hear what you have to say can simply and easily find you, hear your message, and hopefully have their lives be changed as a result. So thank you for letting me be a part of helping you guys do that. Subscribe, and I will see you guys again tomorrow. Bye.
