I think I finally got the answers but man it just about put me to sleep America likes to think it's very much bigger better and badder than any other nation on earth but are we the most exciting place to live not necessarily for most of us who are lucky enough to be able to travel once in a while you'll know there's a lot more going on in other parts of the world in fact you might even say that most of the u.s. is pretty boring especially in the States we're gonna talk about now of course the YouTube commenters are gonna come out in full force with you're an idiot I love where I live it's fun here have you ever left your mom's basement well no matter what you think I'm the one doing the research and I say these places are boring we even use science taking into account number of nightlife venues bars and arts and entertainment the most importantly the type of people who live in these states we determined that states with low population densities and with high numbers of old people and married people with kids are boring it seems about right so try and stay awake while we painstakingly look at the most boring States [Music] we begin in the very very very boring state of Maine what's interesting here is that Maine is the only coastal state on our list as you can imagine most of the boring states in America probably won't have beaches but Maine does what makes Maine so damn boring first off Maine has the second-highest number of old people in the country and as you know old people are boring they go to bed early don't play video games and hate loud music but what's interesting about Maine is that it's also the state with the least number of households with kids that means that most to Maine is basically a bunch of old people living together in cabins eating lobster all day long or whatever Maine people eat lastly Maine is the thirteenth least densely populated state if you've ever been to Maine it's pretty isolated for long stretches grab your rocker and hold on Minnesota because we picked you as the ninth most boring state in the nation why more than half the populations married for starters and more than one in four households in Minnesota is stuck at home with kids on Friday nights to put that into perspective in a fun state like New York only 44% of people are married and only 23% of households have brats running around who can even think about going out on an exciting date when they have to find a babysitter at the last minute know they're stuck at home watching it's know wishing Netflix would finally put all eight seasons of Golden Girls online what about fun Minneapolis and st. Paul have a lot to do I guess but first some real fun it would be snowshoeing to Caribou coffee in the morning then slapping on the car chains to drive down a target to pick up some frozen moose hey of Montana are pretty much one big nursing home if your biggest concern is getting to IHOP for the sunrise special then Montana's for you have you ever flown over Montana it's pretty lacking in everything and tried driving across Montana it never ends Montana is so boring that you can't wait to get to North Dakota and that's saying something seriously there aren't even any billboards to count you just stare out the window forever and ever but if you like driving fast Montana's the place to be you can drive like 120 on the highways and nobody'll care for a long time you could actually drink and drive but they change that law a while back things were much more exciting in Montana back in those days wake up Utah comes in as the seventh most boring place you can possibly live in America the Beehive State that's lame leads the nation for a number of married households with kids you can sure bet that after 8 p.m. most nights its lights out for the entire state Utah's also the 11th least densely populated state - a lot of people in Utah don't even use swear words people on Utah were like shut the front door oh heck no TF means the frick in Utah part of the problem is Utah's boring laws it's like Utah's run by your parents when you were 13 years old there's strict drinking laws all over the state and you can even get a $50 fine for throwing snowballs the Frick what are you getting trouble if you get grass stains on your pants to lighten up Utah some people in Utah will say just because it's isolated and not very diverse and you can't drink on Sunday and you can't throw snowballs and you can't swear it's not boring yeah whatever Utah guy porn porn everywhere Iowa's just so fun I made that song up everybody says they like my scene so much thought I'd keep it going Iowa is all mom jeans and flip phones actually some of the cooler Iowa women wear ripped mom jeans here in Iowa 52% of populations married good for the fifth highest rate in the nation don't tell me married people are fun they're not and a lot of people in Iowa are old too I was actually surprised to see that I was only the 15th least densely populated state because I've been there and it's pretty much corn corn corn look what happens when you google things to do in Iowa now people in Iowa will say they like the open spaces whatever face it you'll never ever hear anyone say that are going on vacation in Iowa not for spring break not on their honeymoon not ever there was a farmer from Kansas and he was really boring our next stop on our snooze fest across America is in the great state of Kansas in Kansas 3 and 10 people are stuck at home with their spouse and kids and the sunflower state is the tenth least populated place in the country there are long stretches in Kansas that are so boring that pulling over to see the world's biggest ball of twine sounds like a ball now a lot of you are gonna pile on and say just because I have kids and I'm married I'm not boring to that I would say yes you are boring there's nothing wrong with that though Kansas people if everybody ran around having fun partying meeting new people every night who would raise our future generations our tornadoes and thunderstorms exciting Kansas has lots of those and there's probably some Kansas by running around from the police at this very moment that's exciting right and while they have college basketball most of the professional sports teams like the Chiefs and Royals are next door in Missouri and if you have to go to Missouri for fun you know your state must be lame there's no place like no there is not except our next state Wyoming is just so square it's actually a really large state but there's hardly anybody there after Alaska Wyoming has the least number of people per square mile in the nation you can literally take off driving in Wyoming and be on a major highway at night and not see anybody for an hour it's so boring and isolated it's actually kind of scary Wyoming residents are also second Utah for the most number of married boring stay at home and stare at their phones all night couples did you know in Wyoming it's illegal to wear a large hat into a movie theater that's like the only cool part about Wyoming is the funny hats so many rules for many people in Wyoming Walmart is the only thing to do there are three malls in the entire state and only two escalators in Wyoming Wyoming sounds like a teenage nightmare if you're a teen at Wyoming watching this cheer up at least you don't live in Nebraska Nebraska has the fourth most number of married households and the eighth most number of households with kids it's also the ninth least populated what's surprising and what keeps Nebraska from winning this whole boring battle is that Nebraska residents are relatively young compared with the rest of the country is that because the old people left or did they just die of boredom sure Omaha and Lincoln can be fun sorta Omaha's a little rundown and Lincoln's quite boring for a state capitol the rest of Nebraska is lame to the Oh check it out somebody made a map where they did a Google autocomplete for every state look at Nebraska and don't forget about mano y nebraska population one south dakota is really boring there's nothing to do if you live there that's too bad I feel so bad for you our unstimulating circuit through America makes it second the last stop and the big giant boring uninteresting unexcited state of South Dakota there's the saying in South Dakota there's nothing to do there but drink that just might be true South Dakota is the fifth least densely populated place in the country it's eight in number of married people and one in five residents is older than 60 cows outnumber people five to one in South Dakota you stop for gas in South Dakota a hundred miles from home and you see people you know will be there an expert in both car care how about a search for Chinese food well you have two choices twin dragon and twin dragon buffet what if I wanted Mexican food holy crap they have a grip of elta patios in South Dakota maybe it's not so bad there wake up welcome to Snoozeville America Idaho is the most boring place you can live in the whole country is that a shocker looks like we might have just nailed this one oh snap I found this on Google what makes Idaho such a boring place first off more than half the population is married at 55% Ida has the second highest rate of hitched couples in the nation on top of that more than a third of the population has kids at home that means an exciting night for many Idaho families is trying to figure out who broke the iPad finally there's only 19 people per square mile in Idaho so even if you want to hang out with somebody there's nobody around you can bet Tinder's probably an empty wasteland No seen it boring there you go why do you think Idaho ranks first in the nation for a number of people who drink wine so they can fall asleep and forget that they live in Idaho now some people will say that if you're a boring person then you'll find almost any place you live is boring and that's just our point sure there are some exciting people in some of these states and if you're creative you can find ways to stay entertained but overall these are the states but the highest number of residents who don't leave the house very much where there's the least number of things to do places like Idaho are pretty there's some really down-to-earth people who live here too but when it comes to stimulation well stay away from these states ain't nothing much to see here at all you're still awake congratulations you made it now you're a little bit smarter or dumber but at least you're entertained for a while now get off the couch and quit being so boring yourself in the
